“These people are going to try and shred her after the campaign to divert blame from themselves… A number of Gov. Palin’s staff have not had her best interests at heart, and they have not had the campaign’s best interests at heart.”
*
“She is a diva. She takes no advice from anyone. She does not have any relationships of trust with any of us, her family or anyone else.
Also, she is playing for her own future and sees herself as the next leader of the party. Remember: Divas trust only unto themselves, as they see themselves as the beginning and end of all wisdom.”
*
“If you measure tension as the interaction between principles and staff who actually have some authority and are trying to win the election, then we’re fine. If you want to report based on the musings and resentments of hangers on and people who like to pretend they’re in the know then you can probably come up with anything.”

Damn.
Did anyone on our side say anything memorable today?
MrScribbler on October 25, 2008 at 10:04 PM
Meh. Not impressed. It’ll get worse in the coming days as the Obama campaign internal data reveal the grim truth. Folks, just be ready for it…these guys are going to pull out all the stops. No holds barred. Fight to death.
McCain will win. Then we deal with the turncoats.

Senator McCain and Governor Palin are grown ups. Since I believe nothing I read in the press I have no problem not believing this.
Elizabetty on October 25, 2008 at 10:09 PM
Oh, quit the finger pointing…
Seriously folks, this election was lost at two places… after McCain won the nomination and right after the convention… those were the best two opportunities for McCain to move the party where he wanted(or needed) to win… for instance, even before the stock market crash everyone(except Team McCain) was talking about “pocket book issues”… where the hell were the policy pivots?… instead it turned into a mashup of Dubya and Dukkakis

I’m a BIG Mike Medved fan/listener. I agree with most of his comments on his show that I listen to every day.
I was a little surprised from the piece that he wrote in TownHall a couple of days ago, and have been mulling it over in my pointy little head since then.
It’s all just causing me to get out my handy roll of duct tape, and wrap it even tighter. (hence the pointedness).
But, this fight is not over. Keep talking to your friends and family and strangers, to get the word out and keep us from falling into the Obama trap.
Over.

Nine days left and I suspect it will become exponentially worse each day. By Friday, before The One does his pilot TV program for the weekly (nightly?) “Praise by to Me” reality show, I suspect we will be blessed with a CNN/NYT poll showing Senator Obama leading by a 63% to 35% spread. This huge lead in the poll will be attributed to McCain’s combination of selecting Sarah Palin and his refusal to admit the racist nature of his campaign combined with Senator Obama’s genius, soon to be announced, plan to save our economy.
As for me, I’ve already voted for McCain and have volunteered to provide transportation for McCain voters and make phone calls.

These need to be more patient and her family as supportive as possible. The pressure she’d under must be taking a huge toll not to mention all the garbage the libs keep putting out about her family. Anyone, no matter how strong, would be showing some cracks and she’s showing surprisingly few. Lighten up Palin people!

No ninja, fight the last couple of elections, why don’t you? It’s not over yet. And if we lose, we’ll see how accidental the timing of the credit crunch was. Or rather, of the oil price spikes that occurred a few months before. Just a hunch.

I don’t know what’s going to happen in a week and a half, but thanks ManlyRash for keeping me off the window ledge. I do know this much, the media are just making stuff up. I saw a report that said Obama was well ahead in West Virgina. Obama got just 25.67% of the vote there, in the Democratic Primary. 3 out of 4 democrats voted against Obama. All I hear out of the media is the equivilant of, “Well, there was this other buyer who seemed very interested, said they’d be back tomorrow, but if you want this used car, we can wrap it up right now.”

Damn straight, and it seems to be what is missing from the analysis. With all the shiite being heaped upon the GOP this year, a wilted Chia Pet (which Odummy damn near is) should be up by twenty points over McCain right now.
It’s a mixture of Oahole’s fat ego, Biden’s stupid mouth AND Sarah Palin which have kept Mac in this race, mostly Sarah Palin though.
I still say and will continue to say that these pollsters have things waaaaaaay wrong, there are states which will go McCain which are going to surprise the hell out of a lot of people and drive him to victory.

Sorry, I still have hope for an upset victory…
It’s called self-criticism…
There shouldn’t be any finger pointing and blaming… but people need to look back and see the lost opportunities…
Palin deserves no blame herself… in hindsight, Bloomberg would have been the best choice IMO… the Palin pick should have came with substantive policy pivots towards the middle class…
McCain pretty much deserves all the blame… he’s ran a tight-ship without a rudder… that’s about how you explain everything Republican these days… messy control freaks…
ninjapirate on October 25, 2008 at 10:37 PM
I really don’t like hearing all this acrimony between the Palin and McCain teams. It reminds me too much of the conflict between the Edwards and Kerry people, which really didn’t help their campaign.

Don’t forget that Obama’s campaign comes right out of the Chicago thuggery playbook. It’ll get worse over the next week so don’t believe any of it. Besides believing it isn’t going to change anything. We still get to vote and it’s the vote that counts – the ONLY thing that counts.
Mr_Magoo on October 25, 2008 at 10:41 PM
At this rate by November 1st there will be reports of open gunfire between the factions.
This is all just so much Washington cr*pola. No wonder these a**hats hate and actual people love Palin so much, she is not interested in playing their stupid game. Everyone inside the Beltway is more interested in getting their next dinner party invitation than in helping the nation. They’d rather get an invite to a cocktail party even as Al Queda is blowing up the building than miss out.

We are in a huge battle and we are going to pull through and persevere.
To hell with the MSM.
They will come down hard and use “sources” to make up any story they want. We must stay positive and use common sense.
As trubble said, West Virginia will not go to Obama it doesn’t make sense. Those bitter clingers in Pennsylvania and in a shocker, New Hampshire will go for McCain.
I can not believe that Ohio, Missouri, Florida, and North Carolina will go to Obama. That is a bunch of crap.

I remember with wistful nostalgia the last few months of the Reagan presidency, even though Bush the elder had beaten Dukakis. I sensed that the high watermark of modern history was slipping away.
In comparison, Bush the younger is more like low tide, but somehow — and I pray that I am wrong — I suspect that I will look back wistfully on these last weeks before the election with a Republican in the White House and ManlyRash in the cheering section as the good old days.

Mr_Magoo on October 25, 2008 at 10:50 PM
I heard a soundbite a few minutes ago on a local radio news program. Osama Obama was babbling about “McCain/Bush” again, and said McCain’s claim to taking his own path was like “Tonto talking back to the Lone Ranger.”
Can you imagine if McCain had said that? Headlines (”McCain Disses Indians!”, and calls for him to withdraw from the race. But The Messiah’s Teflon coating is holding up well….

Just want you all to know that Mrs Magoo who was a registered Republican but was sort of curious about Obama told me she is voting McCain/Palin. She has seen through the empty suit. I take some credit but Obama himself gets most of it.
Also my dad said several moths ago that he thought Obama was a “very good speaker” but about a mnonth ago told me didn’t trust Obama.
I made a vow to myself months ago that if I could inform two voters – even if they were family members – I would have influenced the outcome of the election. It’s not too late for all of you to do the same. Talk with friends and family members. Don’t get in their faces but just find out where they stand and go from there. Never give up.

If the amount of email I keep getting from the Obama campaign is any indication – they are scared. They are begging me to call people, drive to other states and otherwise get out the vote for Obama. For a campaign already writing their inauguration speech these sure seem like desperate measures.
ctmom on October 25, 2008 at 11:02 PM
AMEN! Fred Barnes going on about “Obama’s flawless – FLAWLESS! -campaign” and shaking and fidgeting like a wind-up toy monkey drumming the drums. Turncoats are those so-called Republicans who either trash McCain/Palin or flat-out endorse Obama.

If there is to be a “Sarah Faction” after the election, count me solidly in that faction.
Certainly not with the ‘neocons’, who I blame for the screwups of the past 8 years, and counting.
We will need real Conservatives to clean up a Baracky mess. The Colin Powell sorts, the Huckholios, the Giulianis, those we will not need. Flush ‘em all.
If McCain loses, it’s the fault of McCain, and the media who selected him. NOT because of Sarah Palin.
