How did people get dirt on Joe the Plumber?

How did so much information about Joe Wurzelbacher’s taxes and licensing get out to the public so quickly? Officials in Ohio want to know the answer. They apparently suspect that state and local government systems got exploited in order to attack Joe the Plumber:
State and local officials are investigating if state and law-enforcement computer systems were illegally accessed when they were tapped for personal information about “Joe the Plumber.”
Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher became part of the national political lexicon Oct. 15 when Republican presidential candidate John McCain mentioned him frequently during his final debate with Democrat Barack Obama. …
Public records requested by The Dispatch disclose that information on Wurzelbacher’s driver’s license or his sport-utility vehicle was pulled from the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles database three times shortly after the debate.
Information on Wurzelbacher was accessed by accounts assigned to the office of Ohio Attorney General Nancy H. Rogers, the Cuyahoga County Child Support Enforcement Agency and the Toledo Police Department.
It has not been determined who checked on Wurzelbacher, or why. Direct access to driver’s license and vehicle registration information from BMV computers is restricted to legitimate law enforcement and government business.
The accounts used to access the information at the BMV and tax records all came from government agencies. This information is only supposed to be accessed for legitimate investigations, not just for curiosity, and certainly not for political purposes. Who in these government offices would have wanted to investigate Wurzelbacher, and for what legitimate reason — within hours of a presidential debate in which he played a significant part?
Answer: no legitimate reason exists. This explains why so much dirt got thrown at Wurzelbacher so quickly. At least one person, and almost certainly more than one person, decided to rifle through government records to discredit Wurzelbacher. That explains how they knew about his brief association years ago with the Natural Law Party; someone must have gone through the voter-registration records.
Thanks to the Tanning Bed Media, the effort to smear Wurzelbacher worked. No one questioned how this information got out, or who might have been behind its publication. The media, which still hasn’t bothered to report on Barack Obama’s association with the quasi-socialist New Party in Chicago, happily printed all the dirt they could find on Wurzelbacher instead.
Thirty-five years ago, a group of Plumbers did the same kind of thing in a presidential election, and it changed American politics forever. This smells of the same kind of Nixonian tactics.

And the Tanning bed media is still strangely quiet about Michelle Obama’s relationship with Dohrn, and her role in sending Obambi’s mistress to Martinique.
To say nothing of allegations that Tim “Family values” Mahoney was trying to pimp his mistress to $$$ contributors or Barney Frank’s boyfried at Fannie Mae etc.
Too bad you can’t sue for journalistic malpractice, because that’s probably the only thing that will get them to change.

What is it about Obama that attracts what appears to be the felons, the mis-fits, the extremists and the borderline mentally ill? His whole campaign is thick with them. I read a article about David Axelrod in the newest issue of Nat Rev. and even he sounds like a fanatic, albeit an intelligent and intuitive one. In passing though, that article also said that many of the people Axelrod has shepherded into office have been failures or close to it(Deval Patrick was mentioned). Personally, I think Obama is next on his failure list should he get in.

There are some nasty, slimy Democrats in Ohio. They didn’t need direction from the Obama campaign to start digging up the dirt on Joe. These are the same people who slimed Ken Blackwell all through the 2004 election, and ran one of the dirtiest campaigns of all time to get Ted Strickland elected Governor against Blackwell in 2006.
The Democratic Party has completely taken over by a gang of thugs who will do ANYTHING to win elections. And as long as the media are waving the pompoms instead of investgating and calling out the corruption, they will get away with it. Pat Caddell called this back in 2000 during the Florida recount, and it’s only gotten worse. This is what we are up against now if we want to take our country back; we are up against people who have no morals, no integrity, and no intention of following any rules even if they write them. It’all about gaining power, by any means necessary.

A better observation might be is anyone NOT underhanded. Anyway, not touting or anything, but do recommend the article by Mark Hemingway. This makes at least two ‘Watergate’ style plumber breakings so far. (The breaking in of Sarah Palin’s email and the access of ‘dirt’ on Joe the Plumber). The only difference now is the electronic nature of the break-ins rather than actual ‘black bag’ operations. It took just one to bring down Nixon. And these two instances have seen the light of day BEFORE the election. Remember it wasn’t the actual break in that did in Nixon (he didn’t know about it) it was what he and his subordinates did AFTERWARD.

I feel like we’re going to win this thing. Obama hasn’t sealed the deal with $600 million and the endorsement of ALL of the TV networks and Newspapers. To me the scariest part of this is that time and time again we see AGs and law enforcement officials, people we think are upholding the laws, breaking every last law! In MO we saw prosecutors and sheriffs threatening citizens if they made an ad that contained “lies” about Obama. This is exactly the same type of deal in OH. It is to scare the hell out of people and to have a chilling impact on free speech. Look at what happened to Michelle Bachman! No free speech for Republicans!
After McCain wins we MUST begin the fight of our lives on our own soil. We MUST weed out of every system anyone that would be willing to commit acts like these. We MUST give confidence to those who support Conservatism, but are afraid to become active in taking America back. We MUST elect strong Conservatives to be Mayors, Judges, Sheriffs, and school board members. Heck, we should strongly support Conservative Animal Control people! Our movement to regain control of this nation is going to have to be from the bottom up, and moves like these in OH and MO just prove that to protect our rights we are in desperate need of starting at home where free speech is apparently in grave danger.
And lastly, we must remember them in our prayers. They need just as much protection from evil as any group of people out there other than our military. We tend to elect these people, and then forget about them. That is until things like amnesty, and drilling comes up. We need to pray daily for them and for God to protect them from temptation. If the world wants to hold Republicans to a higher morality standard then we need to step it up in the morality department. We need to live what we preach, and pray those that represent us do as well.

For the most part you are exactly correct. But some of these issues do get reported accurately by the MSM. The dynamic that sickens me is that those who support Obama and know that he is duplicitous in most every area of his record and especially about the truth of his vile associations etc, are gleeful that he is getting away with the lying.
They want Bush and conservatives to be disenfranchised as no other group has been disenfranchise in the course of human history. And in the case of the huge amount of militant blacks (read Michelle Obama) who are voting for Obama on race alone, they insist they are still being screwed over as they were during the days of slavery and they want to jackboot whitey’s face in the mud until he dies a humiliating death.
These are immoral people who as far as I am concerned, are collectively the whore of Babylon. In other words, the followers of the anti-Christ.
csdeven on October 25, 2008 at 12:16 PM
It is simply unacceptable for Obama to keep getting a pass for his associations with radicals and being one himself. Honest, hard working individuals are now being looked upon as the enemy of the state in the eyes of the ignorant people who blindly follow Obama campaign rhetoric. We are ten days out and I have no clue what else I can do to defeat this radical. He may win, but we can keep fighting every minute of every day.

I would run an ad not attacking his opponents but the plumbers, with the angle that John McCain will fight for you
Voice over: A few weeks ago a guy named Joe asked Obama about his tax plan and Obama said
It’s not that I want to punish your success. I just want to make sure that everybody who is behind you, that they’ve got a chance at success, too… And I think that when we spread the wealth around, it’s good for everybody
Since then a lot of people have heard about Joe the Plumber and some people have improperly gone into government files releasing private information about his taxes and family
John McCain has fought for the dignity of all citizens. John McCain has fought to protect his fellow Americans from bureacrats who have forgotten they serve the people.
It is not just about Joe the Plumber, it is about a government that works for the people and respects the rights of all.
Citizen voice over: I don’t know anyone more qualified to defend the rights of American citizens in Washington

Two different people.
Democratic Ohio Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner is providing cover for the voting fiasco.
Ohio Attorney General Nancy H. Rogers is the official mentioned in the Columbus Dispatch article. Offhand, I can’t recall her party affiliation, but I suspect that she’s a Democrat. That said, she replaced a predecessor, Marc Dann, who resigned in absolute disgrace for conducting an affair and running an AG’s office comparable to Animal House. Rogers, an Ohio State law school prof, was asked to step in to bring some amount of credibility to the office. I think she’s merely finishing out Dann’s term and then heading back to academia. So we’ll see.
It’ll be an interesting set of state elections in Ohio next time around. Dann was a disgrace as AG, and I suspect that people are going to want Brunner’s head on a stick–if not now, very soon.

America has a right to know who is trying to suppress ACORN, dash hope and stop change. Lord Obama will ensure the public has key information about these people that’s needed to justify what is done with them next.
Under this program, Bill Ayers will be appointed to pay his debt to society as head of the new Department of Reformed Education, or “Dept of Reeducation.” His top goal will be to make sure that everyone going through the process embraces the change that Americans need. A few people have mentioned that this is “Clintonian”, and I agree. Which is why I don’t understand at all this enfatuation that some people on the Right (Ace and the ‘morons’ at Ace of Spades HQ) have with the PUMAs. Does anyone believe that Hillary and the Clinton Machine would not have been doing the exact same thing here? Someone already mentioned their FBI files. And of course, it was Hillary who espoused socialism first (she said something like “we’re going to take from you and give to others who need it” or something like that… basically the same “spread the wealth” comment as Obama), which was why we were all freaking out about trying to find someone to defeat Hillary in 2008.
So I find it laughable that some people on the Right seem to think we have some sort of alliance with PUMAs. We don’t. Hillary and her Machine are simply sore, because Obama beat her at her own game. Hillary is no better than Obama and I don’t understand why the Right seems to think we have anything in common with PUMAs and Hillary. She is just as bad, corrupt and as much of a ruthless thug as Obama, only she’s not Black.
I have no doubt in my mind that her Machine would have smeared Joe the Plumber like Obama’s people have been doing. And I have no doubt that her Machine would have worked to steal the election against John McCain as Obama’s people are doing.
Hillary and the PUMAs look good now, only because Obama is our enemy, instead of Hillary. I’ve seen commentors and blog authors over at places like Ace of Spades HQ and The Jawa Report wondering what our differences are with the PUMAs and ‘why can’t we all just get along’? I just shake my head at the stupidity and naivety of these questions. Just like the mass media is our enemy and we shouldn’t try to ‘just get along’ with them, so too are Hillary and her supporters. Hillary and her supporters would be pulling the same voter registration fraud, the same voting fraud and the same thug tactics that Obama and his minions are doing, had she won the nomination. To think otherwise is to deny the past operations of the Clinton Machine.
We on the Right are never going to defeat this crap until we finally acknowledge that these people are our enemies. We need to stop giving them the benefit of the doubt and start calling them out on their BS.

They ought to look to see if there were leaks in the various agencies. That kind of information trafficking needs to be stopped.
On the other hand this kind of information could have been gleaned by going to a private data mining company. For a fee you would be surprised what they can find. All the searching legitimate, as the data that is supposed to be locked up is available on other legal documents freely given by the person being searched.

This story is the second-best arguement I can think of for not wanting medical records to be digitized, as many politicians of both parties have advocated (along with Google).
I recently attended a conference on child abuse issues (called the Dependency Summit in Florida) in which a presenter said quite plainly that if you think there is such a thing as privacy anymore, you are wrong.
I agree.

Can you sue the government for breaching the law and violating your “right to privacy”? I hope so. It would be nice to see Joe qualify for Obama’s tax increase by getting $5 million from the State of Ohio.

Um, I can think of a few reasons why. Can I have your job, media?

Let me get this straight …
Democrats are FOR violating the privacy of Republicans.
And against violating the rights of terrorists?
Hmmm.
Terrorist’s Rights Party anyone?

Obama sure has some people with great moral integrity working for him.

Thinking that the last two elections were stolen and the democratical candidate should’ve won will do that to some people.
That’s one of the many reasons I want McCain to win, all the pop-pop-pop of exploding heads on the lefty sites on the internet.

With every passing day, the smelly Obama plane is increasingly explained.

By the way, Saturday Night Live is disgustingly stupid and certainly not funny tonight. I tuned in for the second time in something like four years, and the show is hideous.
They just “performed” some song and dance bit promoting BO and now have some idiot dressed up like a “Robot Call” denigrating McCain.
And just before that, they flashed a large, full-screen annoncement (part of “the show”, not a commercial) displaying the BO campaign logo.
SNL at one time used to be funny. Palin’s guest appearance last week was wonderful. Now the show is returned to its lowest pond scum stupidty…it’s just terrible.
So, this is how the stupid Leftwing behaves today. Words escape me at this point, the show is abysmal. Tonight’s broadcast opened with a “skit” about a guy ringing a doorbell on Halloween, a neighbor announcing he was “a sex offender” threatening ‘trick or treat’.
What a ridiculous waste of broadcast resources.

If there is just one thing I have done, it is to stop trusting anything the MSM has to say about anything. I no longer trust news services like the AP, and I certainly do not trust anything to come out of sources like the NYT, NBC or any of its affliates, nor do I no longer trust anything that comes out of the Tribune company. I am now very selective as to who I get my news from, and if I have to rely on sources like Fox News, or independent sources like here or at Drudge Report, or even WorldNetDaily, then so be it. But as far as I am now concerned, the MSM can go straight to hell.
