Video: Jeri Thompson nukes Colmes, defends Palin’s wardrobe expenses

posted at 4:20 pm on October 24, 2008 by Allahpundit

Worth linking for three reasons: (1) to promote the Team Sarah phone bank; (2) to remind people of just how unfair the media’s smear of JT as a halfwit “trophy wife” was; (3) to feel the blast from the atomic snark she drops on Colmes at the beginning. Good lord. I think I would have started to cry.

Exit question: Jeri for Congress? We’ll be down to, oh, 170 or so House seats by 2010. With so many GOP incumbents turned out, the way is clear for fresh faces…

That was better comedy than last nights SNL.

She is great. I would love to see her in congress.

Gotta love the hypocrisy here. Colmes says that Obama’s association with a domestic terrorist is a distraction from the real issues, but he’ll push the attacks on her clothing.

I love seeing Colmes b*tch-slapped!

What we need to know: does he like a good slap now and then?

BKennedy on October 24, 2008 at 4:45 PM

She is unfairly hot. Every time Jeri Thompson smiles, a new conservative child is immaculately conceived in middle America.

Clearly, the answer is to redistribute her beauty to the less-fortunate ugly liberals.

Flyover Country on October 24, 2008 at 4:46 PM

I remember reading an article about the Obamas during the primaries that talked about Michelle Obama’s large collection of Jimmy Choo (an expensive designer whose shoes run upwards of $450 a pair) shoes, and her large collection of diamond jewelry. MO also made that comment when the first stimulus was proposed that $600 was nothing, just another pair of earrings. I wonder how many “soccer Moms” are running around in $450 shoes, or wearing $600 earrings, or for that matter, how many of them live in a huge house with a 1,000 bottle wine cellar (purchased with the assistance of a convicted felon political fixer for hundreds of thousands below market price), like Michelle Obama does? And unlike Sarah Palin, you know Michelle won’t be giving back all the expensive clothes, shoes, jewelry, make-up, etc., that she’s received during the campaign.

lorien1973 on October 24, 2008 at 4:29 PM

I saw this last night, and she was dynamite. I loved the shoe fettish crack. Given Colmes’s general creepiness, the crack probably hit close to home.

Meanwhile, Obama counters with women such as Claire McCaskill and some whiny member of Congress from Minnesota.

I could listen to Jeri, Janine, Palin, Elizabeth Dole, and Kaye Bailey Hutchinson for hours.

Hey AP, if we’re down to 170 house seats by 0′10, and Barry wins, it’ll be too late for any GOP newcomers.

The political scenario has changed dramatically since ‘94. The decks will be stacked. ACORN’s voter fraud racket is just the tip of the iceberg.

Hell, they used Fannie Mae to melt down the economy and steal everyone’s 401K money while we were in charge. Imagine what they’ll pull if they control all three branches.

If you’re right come 0′10 there’s probably only 3 options.
Hunker down in a Gated comnmunity ostracise yourself from politics and hoard your money. Vote with your feet and check out the friendly confines of Latin America. Arm yourself and prepare for Civil War II.

(2) to remind people of just how unfair the media’s smear of JT as a halfwit “trophy wife” was … Exit question: Jeri for Congress?

Oh please, AllahPundit. You and Michelle Malkin were the fiercest ones on the blogs to smear Fred Thompson over the “silly hat” crap. And now you’re going to actually post that it was unfair for the media to smear his wife? Whatever. I have yet to see you, Michelle Malkin or Bryan Preston apologize for the ’silly hat’ nonsense and remind people of how unfair it was of you all to smear him over that.

I’ve defended you – and still take your side now – over your pessimism schtick, but that nonsense that you, Michelle Malkin and Bryan Preston pulled over the “silly hat” incident was as despicable as some of the stupid smears the mass media has done to Palin. Those threads were actually the first time I had seen you, Michelle Malkin and Bryan Preston all actually participate in the comments section of a post, not just make a post on the topic.

Today you will hype Jeri as being smart and a possible candidate for Congress, and then, when/if she runs, and makes a “silly hat” comment, you and Michelle will be right back here smearing her, saying she has made such a horrible, horrible comment, that will ruin her campaign.

BL@KBIRD on October 24, 2008 at 5:02 PM

And now you’re going to actually post that it was unfair for the media to smear his wife?

No, I’m not going to do it “now.” I’ve done it before, more than once, when the media was beating her up over this.

Allahpundit on October 24, 2008 at 5:03 PM

Whoa– that was a snark bomb (and an awesome one, too)! I think Parker, Noonan, et.al have their knickers in a twist because, like Tony Blankley said, it’s people (women) like Sarah and Jeri that are going to rebuild the conservative movement– real, intelligent working women with families who are not so insecure about their smarts that they have to pen pseudo-intellectual columns every week to impress other dorks and namby-pamby men with no lives.

Pasalubong on October 24, 2008 at 5:03 PM

Skeleltor’s question was stupid. The campaign had to buy nice, expensive clothes from Saks and Nordstroms precisely because Governor Palin prefers to shop from places like Wal-Mart.

If Governor Palin shopped at places like Nordstroms and Saks, she’d have a closet full of camera-ready, tailored, designer clothes of her own that she could have brought along.

Why are conservative women so much more beautiful that Libs? – TheSitRep on October 24, 2008 at 4:56 PM

Undeniable Truth of Life #24 – Feminism was created so as to permit unattractive women easieer access to the social mainstream. Ditto for liberalism. And when it comes to conseervatism, even physically unattractive women exude a powerful inner beauty. Thus: Margaret Thatcher.

ManlyRash on October 24, 2008 at 5:08 PM

No, I’m not going to do it “now.” I’ve done it before, more than once, when the media was beating her up over this.

Allahpundit on October 24, 2008 at 5:03 PM

Okay, good to know.

So it’s not okay for the media to call her a trophy wife, but it is okay for you, Bryan Preston and Michelle Malkin to say that Fred Thomson cannot be President and his campaign is toast, because he makes a “silly hat” comment.

Sorry, as you can tell, I am still majorly annoyed over that incident with you three. I lost a lot of respect for all three of you over that. (yeah, I know, not that it matters, just sayin) Yes I still read the sites, obviously, but that woke me up to just how petty and fickle people who blog can be, just as the mass media is.

Let me put it to you this way: Cindy McCain, Sarah Palin, Jeri Thompson vs. Hillary Clinton, Michelle Obama, and Jon Edwards. Nuff said.

Tacitus_SGL on October 24, 2008 at 5:21 PM

I saw this live and she was very good; but she really whiffed a slow pitch that Colmes served up. Dipstick was mocking Palin for saying that the VP’s job was to “run the Senate”, and Jeri let it pass. Damnit people, that is exactly the only job the VP has. Article I, Section 3: “The Vice President of the United States shall be President of the Senate, but shall have no vote, unless they be equally divided.” WHEN Palin becomes VP she could decide to go down there every day to gavel their sorry asses into session. The fact that historically they choose a “President Pro Tem” to run the place in the VP’s absence does not amend the Constitution to suit Mr. Colmes or the other MSM idiots. (This issue was also one of the big ones Biden tripped over in the debate, but which was ignored like all the others.)

I’m not a big fan of Hannity’s, but if it weren’t for Hannity, Colmes wouldn’t be on television.

If Hannity would stop repeating the talking points that he develops for each subject (and then never changes over many months) and offer some slam-dunk analysis, I’d say Colmes is to Hannity as the Washington Generals are to the Harlem Globetrotters. As things stand, it’s too often left to sharp guests like Jeri, Newt, Rove, and some others to play the Globetrotters to Colmes’s Washington Generals.
