Quote of the day

“Now, don’t get me wrong. I’m not one of those people who think the media has been too hard on, say, Gov. Palin, by rushing reportorial SWAT teams to Alaska to rifle through her garbage. This is the Big Leagues, and if she wants to suit up and take the field, then Gov. Palin better be ready to play. The few instances where I think the press has gone too far – such as the Times reporter talking to Cindy McCain’s daughter’s MySpace friends – can easily be solved with a few newsroom smackdowns and temporary repostings to the Omaha Bureau.
No, what I object to (and I think most other Americans do as well) is the lack of equivalent hardball coverage of the other side – or worse, actively serving as attack dogs for Senators Obama and Biden. If the current polls are correct, we are about to elect as President of the United States a man who is essentially a cipher, who has left almost no paper trail, seems to have few friends (that at least will talk) and has entire years missing out of his biography. That isn’t Sen. Obama’s fault: his job is to put his best face forward. No, it is the traditional media’s fault, for it alone (unlike the alternative media) has had the resources to cover this story properly, and has systematically refused to do so.”

I think you have missed the problem entirely. The conservative movement is a true grass-roots effort. Whatever gains it makes are from a disjointed effort by many thousands of people like me that each chip in a bit. Every once in a while somebody like Reagan (or maybe Palin) comes along to galvanize us into a force. They give voice to the many things that we all think.
The political left is organized. They start with community groups to get their vote out and take much better advantage of their voter base. The left fears a big turnout more than anything because that implies that more of the conservative or moderate people actually showed up at the polls. I feel this is what drives the many articles that imply that the race is not close and all but decide already. They are discouraging the voters that are not such a sure thing. This makes their turnout efforts and organization more of an impact.
The answer is to organize ourselves. Not on the Internet, but as a strong and viable political force. We need our own community groups and turnout efforts. They should start in the conservative strongholds to gain the most traction as the left does. This will greatly offset their advantage.
Another great advantage of this approach is that we will also see that there are many more conservatives that we thought. It will also give us a place to discuss our ideas and develop strategies that fit our communities. It is the place where news can be vetted and pressure can be brought on the outlets that are unfair as well as the advertisers that support them.
I honestly feel that unless we get more organized from the bottom up we will eventually lose this battle to the superior organization that the left has. They will divide and conquer us by making us think we are outnumbered even though it is not true.

This is key, but at the same time, we must always remember our most important principles hinge on the concept of the rational individual in the abstract. We must not fall into the same mass politicization trap that the left has–the subjugation of the individual into the group or collective.
It must also be understood that this will take time–a great deal of time. Patience and perseverance are key here. The struggle to retake our education, our culture, and the media might not be won in our lifetimes–we are beginning a struggle that might have to be carried on by our children and perhaps even our grandchildren. Give the devil their due–the 60s radicals such as Ayers and Van Dohrn understood this well. Also, we will face far greater obstacles than the 60s radicals because they know the playbook and they will be far more thorough and ruthless about crushing dissent–both through direct and indirect means–make no mistake about that.
If Obama wins–and remember, that’s still a BIG IF–then we might well find ourselves at the beginning of a very long dark tunnel. What light we find will, for a long time, be dim and light that we ourselves provide. But first, let’s do what we can to prevent this from happening–let’s stop Obama NOW through the ballot box on November 4.

If Obama is elected, The RINOS will Get the Government, they Deserve. I just wish I wasn’t living in that Country with their earned Government. I get some PEACE of MIND knowing, that the RINOS would reap what they have sown. The RINOS know Sarah Palin isn’t Stupid, that is the club they use, they are elitist, corrupt elitist, that would rather we all suffer under a Obama/Biden Administration. Under some of the Worse financial conditions in our Country’s History (Because for them, it is Me First, not Country First) They would rather have socialism take root, then say Let a Proven Reformer, any where near the White House. Why are the RINOS against Sarah Palin…it is easier to figure out why they are not for her. It has nothing to do with her intelligence. There is an old saying, keep your friends close, and your enemies closer. This is the reason why I am an Independent. Voting McCain/Palin 08!

You know, this is not a parenting forum, and in any case I really don’t need your entirely unsolicited, and astonishingly presumptuous advice on how to raise my child. Like, gosh, it never would have occurred to me to sit down at the dining room table and eat dinner together as a family without your sage suggestions.
Next you’ll be telling me how to set my thermostat and to be sure my tires are properly inflated.
My advice to you is to shut up before the image of a horses’ ass is indelibly etched in my mind whenever I see your name here at Hot Air.

I can imagine just what kind of rude petulant children you must have as well as their behavior in public. YOU decided to take a general comment personally — in other words YOU look for reasons to be aggrieved.
Now you have a REASON to be rude to someone (at least in your mind). It also gives ME a very good basis to make a judgment on the types of values you REALLY convey to your kids.
Regrettably, your limited reading comprehension coupled with your desire to be a victim in an internet thread make it glaringly apparent that rational discussion is not your cup of tea.

Looking for another Reagan is not going to be the answer. Reagan represented a set of values commonly held by a lot of people. You won’t see another Reagan until the grassroots renew those values at large.
If your opinion is that another Reagan is the only answer I think you will always be waiting.
Bradky on October 25, 2008 at 10:52 AM
Wow. Not only are you a closeted moderate with “conservative views”, and not only do you appear to be virulently anti-gun to the point of continuously mocking others who suggest people exercise their second amendment rights, but you’re so vindictive you attack other posters’ families.
You’re a parent and you’ve been haranguing others with insults. Sure, you don’t let them watch South Park(one of the most conservative shows on television, I might add), but I wonder how you would react if someone was talking to your children the way you are talking to others.

Oh, so it is okay that they dig through her garbage but not Hussain Obama’s?
You only get scrutinized by the machine if you are a Republican.
Can anyone produce a valid birth certificate for the Messiah?
Why doesn’t some one dig that up?
TheSitRep on October 25, 2008 at 11:22 AM
What an arrogant twit! It’s so typical of meddling liberals to make idiotic comments and then blame the reader for having poor reading comprehension skills. Has it ever occurred to you that it is your writing and thinking skills which need improvement? Let’s review shall we?
You said:
I responded like this:
Your response?!
I then went on to explain to you that it is not my child who is at risk, but the children of parents who have no idea what they’re in for when they send then off to be “educated” by people like Ayers, Dorhn, and Khalidi. Being the clueless dunce that you are, you ignored that and proceeded to dole out even more parenting advice to me – which makes you a horses’ ass.

Read the entire article. You’ll find that Malone states that what was wrong here is that the media did not do the same thing to Obama and Biden–his main contention is that the media has deliberately shirked its duty in objectively reporting the campaign.

Excuse me, Malone states that the media shirked its duty in that it has not objectively reported this campaign
Clarified to avoid confusion.

It has been dug up, but some people are still suspicious. Personally, I’m more concerned about fraudulent voting and fundraising on the part of the Obama camp.

Rock on. Time to get off our computers and in the faces of first, the drive-by media. We need to mobilize and develop a strategy of exposing the lies, omissions, and subliminal negative reporting so prevalent in today’s MSM.
I stopped at our local McCain/Palin campaign office to pick up yard signs, etc., and was asked if I’d be interested in joining our local Republican Women’s Association. I said “you betcha.” Let it start with me.
