Joe the Plumber: “I’d be up for” running for Congress; Update: “Scared for America” if Obama wins

From today’s Ingraham show, again via Breitbart. He’s got the lingo down — note the casual reference to the “liberal media” — but his answer to the question of which lefty journalist he’d tolerate being on a desert island with is a near-DQ. Although admittedly, I have no better suggestion. Among male journalists, at least.

Exit question: Is Ingraham for real in offering to help? Are our readers? Marcy Kaptur’s a 12-term incumbent and the most senior woman in the House. She routinely wins with 70 percent of the vote. Find a new district, Joe.

Update: He is sort of “between jobs” right now.

Update: Like I say, the man knows how to speak conservative:

“When I was face to face with him, my honest first impression was that I expected something more. I had heard so much about ‘his presence’ in the media that I was surprised to find that he seemed very average,” Mr. Wurzelbacher wrote in a live online chat on The Washington Times Web site.

“My gut feeling as he answered my questions? I was scared for America,” he wrote in response to a reader who asked “When you were face to face with Obama, what were you thinking and how did it feel?”

“work requirement now”

Yes, & KP is angry with McCain for “forcing” BO to add that. Heh.

jgapinoy on October 24, 2008 at 6:43 PM

Think about it Joe. Why abandon an honorable profession to live and work among whores, liars and thieves?

Fletch54 on October 24, 2008 at 6:44 PM

“There is a movement afoot to draft you to run for Congress,” Ingraham said. “Joe, let me tell you something: you decide to run for Congress, and I’ll help you with your PR, I’ll help you do your ads, I mean, I’ll volunteer to help you.”

Go Joe! WTF else do you have to lose the Media hasn’t already done to you!

GO JOE, GO!

upinak on October 24, 2008 at 6:45 PM

Well he is already vetted…

You might think about paying your taxes first, Joe.

Monkei on October 24, 2008 at 6:49 PM

Become a community organizer for a few years and you could run for President.

Bishop on October 24, 2008 at 6:50 PM

Come on Joe! We need him in congress. He is a conservative, and explains conservatism better than some of the republicans in congress and the senate. As I donated to Russell, I will donate to him as well. Hopefully he will run.

jencab on October 24, 2008 at 6:51 PM

Run. More power to him. It’s not like the job is that hard, really. Can use more common sense and judgment. The details are easy to get with all the think tanks etc.

Spirit of 1776 on October 24, 2008 at 6:51 PM

You might think about paying your taxes first, Joe.

Monkei on October 24, 2008 at 6:49 PM

Why are you so worried about his taxes? Don’t you have enough to worry about yourself?

You know, a job, a place to live, food, paying for your internet?

upinak on October 24, 2008 at 6:52 PM

Is Ingraham for real in offering to help? Are our readers? Marcy Kaptur’s a 12-term incumbent and the most senior woman in the House.

So is Murtha. And I’d be willing to bet she agrees with Murtha’s recent baloney.

No, I’m not ready to support Joe, because I don’t think an encounter with the MSM is a qualification for office. Is the GOP that desperate for candidates?

misterpeasea on October 24, 2008 at 6:52 PM

The biggest cesspool in the country!

Go for it Joe the Plumber. Think BIG!

Saltysam on October 24, 2008 at 6:53 PM

I would enthusiastically support Joe the Plumber for Congress. He is most certainly change we can believe in.

Where/When can I send money?

Dr.Cwac.Cwac on October 24, 2008 at 6:56 PM

This would be a path towards getting over $250,000 a year in income.

frankj on October 24, 2008 at 6:58 PM

Even if he wins, Joe should keep the plumber gig and show up on the floor of the House wearing his plumber’s uniform. Pelosi would be pissed.

Cicero43 on October 24, 2008 at 6:58 PM

Laura has a great show. And I enjoyed her book Power to the People. Joe would definitely face some tough times if he runs for congress.

Then you can start cleaning up the biggest sewer in the world . . . the U.S. congress..

rplat on October 24, 2008 at 7:03 PM

He should start with Sen McCain’s homes plumbing contract.

sanjeevn on October 24, 2008 at 7:06 PM

Joe could work at Rangel’s rental properties, I hear they need upkeep. Bonus: Rangel has trouble paying his own taxes.

“My gut feeling as he answered my questions? I was scared for America,”

Well now McCain is going to throw Joe under the bus.

“I have to tell you, he is a decent person and a person that you do not have to be scared of as president of the United States. I admire Senator Obama and his accomplishments. He’s a decent, family man, a citizen that I just happen to have disagreements with.”

CanadianGuy on October 24, 2008 at 7:35 PM

I heard him on Laura Ingraham today and he said he also asked Obama about a flat tax and Obama said spomething about a 40% flat tax….. 4 out of 10 working days for the Federal Fncking government!

Really, we need more “Joes” and less attorneys. So far the “attorneys” have bankrupted the nation, but kept their jobs.
That take real skill to bankrupt the strongest economic force in the world.

Ronnie on October 24, 2008 at 7:59 PM

Monkei:

Considering the fact that Obama’s campaign treasurer is behind on his taxes and no one cares why do you give a damn about this man’s taxes? He is not hurting you, his taxes are none of your damn business.

Chances are he did not even know he was behind. Happens all the time.

Terrye on October 24, 2008 at 8:14 PM

I saw this over at Wizbang, it makes me a little scared:

The Corner points us to HR 808, the Department of Peace & Non-Violence. It’s a new cabinet level the Democrats are proposing. I’m not kidding. This is going to be huge. And expensive. And oppressive. Take a look at some of the offices:

* Office of Peace Education and Training

* Office of Domestic Peace Activities

* Office of International Peace Activities

* Office of Technology for Peace

* Office of Arms Control and Disarmament

* Office of Peaceful Coexistence and Nonviolent Conflict Resolution

* Office of Human Rights and Economic Rights

Terrye on October 24, 2008 at 8:19 PM

Ronnie on October 24, 2008 at 7:59 PM

You can hide other peoples money in freezers, criminally take money for quid pro quo deals that finance’s your property, call yourself a representative of the people, and you don’t need a license for anything.

Rovin on October 24, 2008 at 8:19 PM

That’s ok. I’m scared for America too.

vcferlita on October 24, 2008 at 8:23 PM

I’d really like to know why is between jobs right now. A blogger at stoptheaclu (http://www.stoptheaclu.com/archives/2008/10/16/ny-times-source-on-joe-the-plumbers-license-doesnt-have-a-license/) maintains that Joe was ending the end of his mandatory 5th year as a licensed apprentice. His boss was licensed as well.

angelat0763 on October 24, 2008 at 8:31 PM

…but his answer to the question of which lefty journalist he’d tolerate being on a desert island with is a near-DQ

However, by picking Cooper, he immediately picks up the Log Cabin vote.

misterpeasea on October 24, 2008 at 6:52 PM

Surprise, surprise. You are on the outside looking in and wrong on just about every issue. I’m shocked. I’m part of “the GOP” and I think that he might do a good job. Let the people decide. He is, after all, completely vetted, thanks to the media.

Too bad that “the DNC” is so desperate for change that they picked an unvetted candidate that isn’t qualified to be president.

I live in Kaptur’s district. Toledo is hurting and has been hurting bad for a long time. Guess which party has been in power at the city and county level for a long time.

Here’s a hint, it starts with a “D” and ends with a “rat”.

Run Joe, run!

rbj on October 24, 2008 at 8:55 PM

Part of me says, “Go for it, Joe!” and the part says, “Joe, do you really want to go into that snake pit?” The thing is, we need to return to the concept of the citizen-legislator–the man or woman who goes to Congress, serves a term or two, and then returns home and to his/her family and business or profession.

I used not to be a supporter of term limits, now, I say, Bring ‘em on!

Bull. I get a little thing every year called a property tax bill in the mail. I look at it, bitch about it and then pay the damn thing.

In Joe the Plumber land you simply don’t pay it until you are damn well ready to pay it and then bitch about all the taxes you already “don’t” pay.

In Terrye world, you just enable people like this who don’t pay … as long as they are right wing wackos that agree with you.

Monkei on October 25, 2008 at 12:18 AM

My earlyier posting in a comment, to Godisnowhere, is awaiting moderation in the NYTimes.

The only way the GOP can win this one is by stealing the election again. And you’d best believe people will take to the streets if that happens.
— Godisnowhere
Darlin’ Godisnowhere,
1. We country folk, believe in prayer…..and we pray , that the grim outcome you predict, would never happen.
2. We believe in back-up….that’s where our, love of the 2nd Amendment, comes into play. We all have guns, and know how to shoot them, just like our Sarah. We will not hesitate to use them, if necessary.
3. You elitist liberals, should be very afraid. You are easy to find. You’re mostly, in large cities, on the seacoast, with your backs against the sea. You will be unable to stop us from overruning the cities. We know we won’t have to defend, San Francisco or New York. Your kind of men would never protect their women.
4 So, that leaves Detroit and New Orleans where all the blacks live. We know they will fight, because , all you Democrats have brainwashed them for so long. It’s a travesty for what BO and his ilk have done to the black family. The Democrats should be in leg-irons for perpetrating this carnage. They wanted Enron management’s heads. This is far worse.
So, I want you to understand. We are your worst nightmare. The Baptists are Coming! The Methodists are Coming! The Catholics are Coming!
We are willing to die, to keep America falling into the traitors you are. Are you willing to die for your country? Didn’t think so. All you can do, is wave a white flag of surrender. Never on our watch.
We are a million Sarah Palins.
We are a million Joe the Plumbers

What’s he supposed to say? “I’m really thrilled about the prospect of the guy who tried to destroy me becoming president. Or who, if he didn’t have any part in it, did absolutely nothing to stop it.” I admire Joe for not throwing in an F-bomb or seven.
