ABC: Mahoney used mistress to “entice” donors

Tim Mahoney has more problems than serial adultery, according to ABC News.  The Democratic Congressman demanded that his mistress sexually entice potential donors to his campaign, and wanted her to engage in a menage a trois “for his enjoyment”:

Current and former members of the staff of Congressman Tim Mahoney (D-Fla) say he has yet to come completely clean about his multiple affairs, abusive behavior and alleged ethical lapses. …

But a document obtained by ABC News reveals new allegations of threatening behavior and sexual harassment toward a female staffer, that go far beyond Mahoney’s public confession, including claims that he urged one of his mistresses to serve as a “tease” for big donors.

The former Congressional staff member, Patricia Allen, was paid $121,000 by Mahoney after she was fired and threatened to sue.

The information comes from a demand letter sent by Allen’s attorney in the lawsuit Allen filed against Mahoney for wrongful termination.  Allen alleged that Mahoney made her attend fundraisers and demanded that she “tease c**k” to bolster donations.  ABC says that “current and former staffers” say that these allegations are substantiated by recorded phone calls, presumably made by Allen.

If so, the House Ethics Committee should expel Mahoney, regardless of the election.  It’s difficult to imagine a more degrading and abusive way to treat staffers than to demand sex (and threesomes) and to more or less pimp them for donations.  Of course, in doing so, they will have to ask how much of this the Democratic leadership in Congress knew, and when they knew it — and that may turn this into the same kind of scandal that unseated Mark Foley, Mahoney’s predecessor, and gave Democrats the majority in Congress.

So don’t expect the Ethics Committee to do anything before the election.  They’re hoping Mahoney disappears through the election before they have to answer those kinds of questions.

It’s only about sex and has no relationship to how he would do his duties as a representative of the people. Totally different than the sealed Ryan divorce papers in Illinois which mysteriously got unsealed when Obama was running against him.

People knew about this stuff and still worked for the man?

What does it say about their ethics that they were aware that their boss was a creep but continued working for him.

How this isn’t on the front page of every paper, blog and headline story of the evening news? If an email from Foley can warrant that much attention then this should …

I guarantee you that Clinton is in awe of Mahoney. After all, getting serviced by interns pales in comparison with the kind of fundraising this guy was doing. Makes Foley’s creepy e-mails appear downright boring.

Doesn’t this smell a lot like the Ryan fiasco that Obammy was a part of…. remember Jeri Ryan and her divorce and how the sordid stuff was leaked by none other than OBammy surrogates…… what goes around comes around…… Democrap!

Capt Ed: you just don’t understand, do you?

This is a Democrat who did this!

Thus, this is not:

a) newsworthy, not one iota..
b) worth one single inch of column space in the NYT, WashPo, LAT, etc.
c) worth one single second of airtime on ABCNBCCBSMSNBCCNN…
d) since it does not violate, in any way, Democratic ethics & morales and values, it is not wrong!

Please, understand the “rules”, before you try to generate news or outrage!

Even if he carried every toss-up swing state (Nevada, Montana, North Dakota, Missouri, Indiana, North Carolina, and Florida) and Pennsylvania, he still would lose. He has to flip Ohio and Virginia (both now leaning blue).

Please tell me that the people of Mahoney’s district aren’t even considering re-electing this scumbag. Please Please Please tell me that Mahoney’s constituents aren’t so friggin’ jaded that they can overlook this story.

It may not be true, but please tell me so anyway to help cushion the fact that the predominate “demographic” in my Congressional District put William Jefferson on the ballot under the premise that a corrupt black man is the only one who understands them and their needs.

I swear to God that, on my Wilmington, Delaware AM radio station, I just heard some Democrat ad that talked about “personal methane reclamation.”

I really wasn’t listening closely, and I don’t think there was any specific organization mentioned. Obviously it was about global warming, but “personal methane reclamation?”

Allen alleged that Mahoney made her attend fundraisers and demanded that she “tease c**k” to bolster donations.

What does this mean, “tease cook?”?

“Aw come one baby, don’t be holdin’ that spatula up that way. I know you want to make me an omelette, I can smell the garlic and onions…..oh, ok, here’s a check for 10 grand…”

max1 on October 24, 2008 at 2:28 PM

Betcha Mahoney will get reelected, and the Democrats won’t do a thing to him.

They’re moral relativists. As Evan Sayet would put it, they are militantly indiscriminate. Ethical standards, like morality, are tools to be used against opponents, not actual constraints on behavior. If they don’t have to be ethical, they won’t be ethical.

That’s just the ethics committee. What’s stopping the press from covering this story?

This is tawdry, even for Democrats. I feel sorry for his family, but to be fair, his wife must have known what he was like when she agreed to marry him. It seems as if he’s been off the straight and narrow for years…I commend her for ridding herself of him now. Will he win re-election? That will be quite an interesting race to watch.

I’ve decided that I’m running for Congress!!! Sex, mistresses, menage-a-trois, a democrat-controlled congress… I’ll just remember to not say anything on the phone that can be recorded.

marklmail on October 24, 2008 at 2:51 PM

This story seems to say that this man’s behavior started before he was even elected. What did Raum Emanuael know and when did he know it. Is that the stuff they used on the Republicans two years ago? It wasn’t just that Mr. Foley was a creep but that all the Republicans knew it and let it continue.

Cindy Munford on October 24, 2008 at 2:54 PM

Why are we worrying about such trivial things as how this twerp and Comrade Edwards are spending campaign money on mistresses when Palin is shopping! She has new clothes, and you have no outrage! What is wrong with you people?

The MSM double “standard” makes me sick.

Every once in a long while I give ABC credit for just mentioning anything negative about a democrat. They’re not totally forgiven for “business as usual” – particularly when Terry Moran is on camera – but at least they ventured where CBS & NBC would never go. Possibly ABC reliazes that this is actually newsworthy albeit we’re only talking about one congressman out of 435 that the left can afford to lose.

There is also I guy who represents Florida that has a home in Maryland where his wife lives and children go to school but he has been using his In-laws address in order to represent his Florida district. It was recently announced so he is now renting an apartment in the area. I think he will keep his seat. Ridiculous.
