As Allahpundit would say, “Important!”

Muswell Hillbilly on October 23, 2008 at 10:34 AM

I’m sorry but that put a huge smile on my face. Pure Americana, and I appreciate his sentiment. Give me more Ron Howards and less Joy Behars.

Dr. Manhattan on October 23, 2008 at 10:35 AM

Oh darn. He had to take away time from directing his Nixon smear piece. Shucks, I was looking forward to seeing mind-bogglingly inaccurate reproductions of the Nixon-Frost interview which, ironically, can be seen in their entirety on YouTube. Too bad the trailer for the movie will have far more hits than the actual footage. But hey, Nixon was evil. It’s not important to know what was actually said, just what Hollywood wants you to think he said.

MadisonConservative on October 23, 2008 at 10:35 AM

That is the stupidest thing I have ever seen.

Disturb the Universe on October 23, 2008 at 10:36 AM

I guess it’s one way of letting people know you are still alive and available to be hired.

Who cares what some entertainer says? What, am I supposed to think a lifelong comedian qualifies to be, say, a senator?

jgapinoy on October 23, 2008 at 10:37 AM

I’ll pass on this one, Allah.

SIT ON IT

Beo on October 23, 2008 at 10:38 AM

I agree. All celebrity endorsements should be like that; LAME!!!!!!!!! I would think that would work against Obama. But don’t tell anybody I said that. Let them think that’s good.

RWLA on October 23, 2008 at 10:39 AM

People defend this crap by calling it satire, but there’s nothing in anybody’s speech that even remotely mocks anything about Obama.

So no, this is not satire. For all intents and purposes, these are endorsements…really, really bizarre endorsements.

jimmy the notable on October 23, 2008 at 10:39 AM

AP, I don’t want to see this crap. As much as I like Opie and Andie, I’d rather see a McCain/Palin endorsement.

Vince on October 23, 2008 at 10:40 AM

This is all well and good, but I’m still waiting on the all-important Cousin Oliver endorsement.

That is the stupidest thing I have ever seen.

Disturb the Universe on October 23, 2008 at 10:36 AM

More stupid than The View?

I just want to know why we need four minutes of Ron Howard rambling on about how he’s never done this kind of thing before and isn’t your typical left wing Hollywood type. Methinks the idiot protests too much.

highhopes on October 23, 2008 at 10:41 AM

Where the f*ck is Joanie? Up your nose with a rubber hose Ron Howard.

“Register and vote with your heart and mind and with courage and vision”…right after telling us that Obarfy is super-dooper and painting Palin as some dumb Moose hunter.

Sorry but if you want people to vote smart, you usually don’t try to infest their head with your own bias beforehand.

Speaking of heads, Opie, shave yours.

Bishop on October 23, 2008 at 10:43 AM

made it to 1:50. Don’t want to waste any more time on this. The “funny or die” has been consistently not funny. But I’m sure were going to see our clicks go to them at regular intervals. cha ching.

wise_man on October 23, 2008 at 10:43 AM

Ah, so “Happy Days” must refer to 1977-1980, when we lived under an internationally weak, foolish president with horrible economic policies. And they want to repeat that time.

Ralph Malph and Potzie carried that stupid show.

ManlyRash on October 23, 2008 at 10:37 AM

I agree. Why is this here? Because of its “entertainment whimsical” value? I don’t care. I stopped watching after a minute.

Too bad Chachi didn’t make it in there, probably because he’s a Republican.

You know, enough a lot of people are saying that it is going to be wonderful with Obambi, maybe we need to reconsider? all these people in hollyweird cannot be wrong, can they? Has Barbara Streisand endorsed yet? maybe I’ll wait for her.

I’m tired of this “past eight years” crappola. The worst thing about the past eight years has been too much spending. Will BO spend less? Hahahahahahaha

Ron. Andy. Henry. Shut the farg up…. please.

Sheriff Taylor I can understand, but I’m disappointed in Matlock.

RedWinged Blackbird on October 23, 2008 at 10:49 AM

They just jumped a pool full of sharks. Is there an intrade on when President Obama’s approval rating drops below 30%, because that day is coming.

Mr. Joe on October 23, 2008 at 10:49 AM

Besides, Happy Days is the show that created a colloquialism which commemorates a shift to absurdity and mediocrity.

Now those same guys are telling us to vote Obarky? You just jumped the shark, again.

Bishop on October 23, 2008 at 10:49 AM

When intrade is a better investiment option than blue chips in the stock market, we are in trouble.

Mr. Joe on October 23, 2008 at 10:50 AM

Did you notice the fonzz saying he took a chance 8 years ago? I thought that was ironic.

FlatFoot on October 23, 2008 at 10:53 AM

Yeah, that was relatively amusing… but as with all Obama endorsements (celebrity or otherwise) it lacked ANY substance or reason WHY we should vote for Obama.

It’s about time we quite this whole capitalism, democracy will of the people crap and moved on to the beauty of socialism, will of the Baracko savior, super high taxes and NO MORE FREE SPEECH!!!

BKennedy on October 23, 2008 at 10:59 AM

It was cute.

But, as usual, there is no substance! “We believe we have the opportunity to elect an extraordinary president…” Based on what, exactly? His stellar record? Or is it the “hopenchange” shuffle?

kutabeach on October 23, 2008 at 11:02 AM

Clint Howard, Ron’s little brother, is a conservative. Since he brought it up, I’d like to ask Ron to name the Republicans he has voted for. On Happy Days, Richie Cunningham endorsed Adlai Stevenson, so at least he’s consistent.

Terrie on October 23, 2008 at 11:02 AM

The way I see it, none of these guys have had a hit in years. (Opie’s last attempt at a hit was Davinci Code I think.) I think hollyweird has-beens think that coming out for Obama is somehow going to revive their careers. I think they are sadly mistaken, and their attempts to mesh our quaint memories of yesteryear with today’s scandalous, unscrupulous politicians are going to hurt their past successes.

So sad. I don’t even want to watch the reruns on TV Land after this.

ErinF on October 23, 2008 at 11:03 AM

Shut up and act/sing/direct. I could care less about any entertainer’s political thoughts.

And, once they cross that line from entertainer to political endorser, they go on “the list”.

tru2tx on October 23, 2008 at 11:04 AM

Disturb the Universe on October 23, 2008 at 11:05 AM

No reference to Murder in Coweeta County, a made-for-TV movie in which Andy Griffeth portrays a white racist who murders a black guy and is ultimately arrested by the local sheriff, played by Johnny Cash. Strange casting.

RedWinged Blackbird on October 23, 2008 at 11:08 AM

Ah, the clip was cute. It was a hoot seeing those beloved old characters again.

On the other hand, it was also sad to see/hear that the actors behind these beloved old characters are basically nitwits.

I mean, out of all the reasons to vote for Obama, the “McSame” meme is undoubtedly the weakest and lamest.

And somehow I think the values espoused on those two shows (Andy Griffith and Happy Days) are far, far from the values espoused by liberals and democrats.

That all said, I stopped watching Ron Howard movies right before he raped Dr. Seuss with his Grinch travesty (really, changing the ENTIRE POINT of the book??!!?!?!?!)

Religious_Zealot on October 23, 2008 at 11:10 AM

More Obama endorsements from celebrities who took advantage of the free enterprise system until they got rich and could afford to endorse socialism to ease their guilt. Doubt if they will have to give their money back. After all, what’s a few more percentage points in taxes when you have all those legitimate business expenses.

Mr_Magoo on October 23, 2008 at 11:10 AM

Is it time for Jon Voigt to dawn his old Joe Buck costume and do a Midnight Cowboys for McCain skit?

Disturb the Universe on October 23, 2008 at 10:42 AM

Better, perhaps more powerful: his character from “Coming Home,” from the chair, donning his Marine blues again and delivering an impassioned speech about a real wounded American vet from ‘Nam, akin to the anti-military speech the movie actually ended with.

Captain Scarlet on October 23, 2008 at 11:12 AM

tomas on October 23, 2008 at 11:12 AM

I can see Fonz promoting abortion, but I may never think of Mayberry the same again.

Once again actors consider their liberal agenda and promote a communist for president. Ron Howard as an independent begging votes for the most liberal senator? Now that’s funnier than shooting moose. How about Fonz thinking he heard Michele O is brown sugar, and not race huger.

Hening on October 23, 2008 at 11:13 AM

I don’t care if it was cute. There basic premise is a lie. Democrats were most responsible for teh economic meltdown and I would way a lot of teh blame on the difficulties in conducting the war right on their lap also. Following these idiots advice will only make it worse.

Boycott hollywood, even if it’s cute.

The only bad thing about the last 8 years were the times when President Bush acted too liberal.

Abby Adams on October 23, 2008 at 11:16 AM

And why am I not surprised “Richie Cunningham” would support Obama? After all, they each have forgotten brothers. I mean really, where was Chuck Cunningham??

(I have a theory that the 50s era Milwaukee resident Chuck Cunningham went on to become Archie Bunker’s pal “Stretch” Cunningham, but I digress…)

Captain Scarlet on October 23, 2008 at 11:16 AM

this message brought to you from the real inner hollywood bubble.

jimmer on October 23, 2008 at 11:17 AM

I mean, out of all the reasons to vote for Obama, the “McSame” meme is undoubtedly the weakest and lamest.

Religious_Zealot on October 23, 2008 at 11:10 AM

It’s not just the weakest and lamest – it makes zero logical sense.

For years, liberals told us McCain was the one “good” Republican. Joe Biden said it himself! That he’d run as McCain’s running mate.

For years and years, liberals pointed at McCain as somebody “different.” His nickname’s “Maverick,” for the love of God. A word defined as “somebody different.”

Then he gets the Republican nomination … and he’s “McSame?”

Even liberals must recognize their own meme’s basic stupidity. THEY were the ones who labeled him as “different.”

Professor Blather on October 23, 2008 at 11:18 AM

So, in order to get change, we have to rehash the past?

Torch on October 23, 2008 at 11:20 AM

Only when Gumby and Fred Flinstone endorse Obama will I begin to waiver.

rplat on October 23, 2008 at 11:20 AM

You would think that all of these folks would recognize the inherent McCarthy-ism in Obama’s frequent employment of the race card to shut everyone up…

And I am shocked, SHOCKED!, to see Andy Griffith shillin’ for O!

Musta been having an, ahem, senior moment

But Ronnie and Henry are hollywood libs all the way…

Still, the video was amusing; I just wish that the Fonz would have had the intellectual honesty to recognize just how big a wuss O! is, and would have suggested that hesit on it!

RocketmanBob on October 23, 2008 at 11:21 AM

The Fonz jumps the shark again. But I agree with Allah, other than the “Sarah Palin is loose” comment, pretty tame and lightly humorous stuff.

I guess Opie’s decision to support Obama came from working with all of those black actors who were on The Andy Griffith Show and Happy Days.

Oh wait. Both shows were white as snow.

So how did his lame reborn character come up with the dream of voting for someone like Obama someday?

And I’d like a list of the “Republicans” that you say you voted for.
Judging by this video, it is clearly apparent that you’re still using peanut butter and jelly to bait hooks as no rational, reasonable, logical human being would ever think of voting for his BOness let alone enticing others to vote themselves and their nation into destruction.

Y’know…it’s always amazes me when our Lefty friends talk about the “divisiveness” of the “last eight years”, all the blame going to Mr. Bush…while the work in that direction by the Left is never brought up.

Within three months of his inauguration, Mr. Bush’s family was the subject of “That’s My Bush”, an opus from those political geniuses who gave us “South Park”.

Mr. Bush has been the subject of movies and plays which were premised on his assasination.

Foreign criticism of Mr. Bush has been mined from malcontents overseas as frequently as it has been from those closer to home.

Every effort by Mr. Bush’s administration has been tarred with the “racism” brush, even when prominent Democrats have been involved.

…and the Democrats skate on any responsiblity for the “divisiveness” they themselves have created…and have profited from…including the treasonous utterances of Reid, the bilge of Pelosi, and anti-troops pronouncements of Murtha.

They get a pass…and Obama’s enablers hope to skate their messiah right into the White House on the pass….

…if Mr. Obama wins, it will be another instance of proof of Mr. Lincoln’s maxim…you can fool some of the people all of the time….

Puritan1648 on October 23, 2008 at 11:38 AM
