If we must be subjected to celebrity endorsements, may they all be like this.

The three of them know as much about politics as they know about brain surgery.

RBMN on October 23, 2008 at 11:37 AM

Everytime a lib here in NC starts losing ground in an election they bring out “Ole Andy” to save them. Boggles my mind — that show sucked.

srhoades on October 23, 2008 at 12:12 PM

good. non condescending and even classy… but I’m still voting McCain no matter what Opie Cunningham says

DarianCounts on October 23, 2008 at 12:22 PM

yawn

Y-not on October 23, 2008 at 12:22 PM

Yes. True Americanna. And that being said, Obama would have been arrested in Mayberry for being a communist, and the Fonz I knew would have beaten up anyone with a name like Barak Hussein Obama.

warriorlawyer on October 23, 2008 at 12:26 PM

That’s not so good, Al.

YYZ on October 23, 2008 at 12:29 PM

Well, this is the right way to do it, if you’re gonna do it. The Opie stuff made me laugh.

Malpaso on October 23, 2008 at 12:29 PM

WHAT A BUNCH OF PUKE

HEY RON, YOU NEED TO TALK TO BIDEN ABOUT HAIR PLUGS.

PLUG YOUR LAME’O MOVIES NOT YOUR POLITICS.

Kini on October 23, 2008 at 12:30 PM

We’re not just talking about jumping the shark, we’re talking about the people who INVENTED jumping the shark.

I just remembered that he’s also been in several Adam Sandler movies, including Waterboy, Little Nicky, Click and You Don’t Mess with the Zohan. Not exactly blockbusters, but he’s been working.

Although, interestingly enough, Adam Sandler is a McCain supporter, I think.

Rick on October 23, 2008 at 12:33 PM

Yeah I fear change. I fear changing into a Socialist Welfare State. I fear it a lot.

ronsfi on October 23, 2008 at 12:35 PM

Man, I almost hurled when he was getting his nose hair trimmed…

Wyznowski on October 23, 2008 at 12:36 PM

As I recall it, Richie campaigned for Adlai Stevenson, just to get a chick, who later dumped him when he lost

ToddonCapeCod on October 23, 2008 at 12:42 PM

Andy is a Democrat? Say it ain’t so! He is one of my few Hollywood heroes…. :-(

Tim Burton on October 23, 2008 at 12:43 PM

Can we arrange to have Obama spend 10 minutes in the Mayberry jail with Ernest T. Bass?

BuckeyeSam on October 23, 2008 at 12:53 PM

As I recall it, Richie campaigned for Adlai Stevenson, just to get a chick, who later dumped him when he lost

ToddonCapeCod on October 23, 2008 at 12:42 PM

True, but on the same show Fonzie endorsed Ike (“I like Ike. My bike likes Ike,” I believe was the quote. Very Joe the Plummer-ish, if you ask me…)

jon1979 on October 23, 2008 at 12:55 PM

They should have shown Opie and Andy convincing Goober, and Richie and Fonz convincing Potsie to cast their vote for BO. That’s the only type of person I could see being swayed by this nonsense.

Who beleives that Ron H. or Henry W. really voted for Bush/Cheney in 2000?

coloradoranchhand on October 23, 2008 at 1:01 PM

I thought it was funny.

Obama wants my guns & that ain’t NO JOKE.

omnipotent on October 23, 2008 at 1:04 PM

The Andy Griffith Show is an all-time classic.

That said, I’m surprised Griffith is a Dem, and even more surprised he’s endorsing Barack “Lonesome Rhodes” Obama.

Barry wouldn’t even make a good deputy.

snickelfritz on October 23, 2008 at 1:04 PM

Preach it!

srhoades on October 23, 2008 at 12:10 PM

…no…not preachin’….

…I’m just one of the sinners, here in a back pew, wanting to hear the whole story get told.

It’s like we’ve had one side of a telephone conversation reported to us as fact, ignoring the other side, equally guilty.

Sure, Mr. Bush’s screwed the pooch…but who was holding it’s head?

Puritan1648 on October 23, 2008 at 1:09 PM

Wow, Andy Griffith supports Obama? Who knew.

That was fun to watch though — and it was gracious in a lot of ways.

Richard Romano on October 23, 2008 at 1:15 PM

Color me unimpressed. I don’t care who endorses Obama, I’m sure as hell not voting for socialism.

Tom Blogical on October 23, 2008 at 1:34 PM

You know, there was a reason why all those shows were cancelled, nobody cared to watch them anymore.

Torch on October 23, 2008 at 1:35 PM

Fonzie jumped the Cuda!

epluribusunum on October 23, 2008 at 1:36 PM

Ron Howard, little innocent Opie, opining how he votes for Democrats and Republicans. Wow. What a swell homey kinda guy. Well, that may or may not be true, but one thing that is 100% fact is that he has donated over $100,000 to Democrats, and Democrats Only.

Andy Griffith. That veritable font of kindness and wisdom. That fatherly figure with the infallible character. Well, that may or may not be true. But one thing that is 100% fact is that he has also donated exclusively to Democrats.

And last but not least… AYYYYYYYYYY Henry Winkler (aka: Arthur Herbert Fonzarelli – aka: The Fonz). The epitome of cool. The apex of suave and deboner. Well, that may or may not be true. But what is 100% fact is that he has donated over $30,000 exclusively to… Democrats!

So, the lesson here, kids, is that while Opie, Sheriff Andy, and The Fonz would have you believe with this Funny or Die video that they’re the voice of reason and that their advice and tidbits of saintly wisdom is what’s right… they ALL have an agenda that is 100% committed to Democrats, and Democrats only, regardless of what is truly right and saintly.

*this is a great website to see how and where all the celebrities and political candidates and other people who have the benefit of MASS MEDIA and large sums of money put their money in politics… as well as the average Joe.

FlatFoot on October 23, 2008 at 1:41 PM

Opie is a good man, but his reasoning for endorsing The One comes across as shallow.

Why does he assume that McCain would repeat the same policies as the Bush Administration? Last time I checked both candidates are distancing themselves from Bush and proposing to tweak and scrap his policies. Opie does not say. He’s still going on about his wigs.

Opie says that Obama would move our country in a different direction and be a great leader, but what makes him say this?

Besides its shoddy logic for “that One,” where is the humor here? Are we suppose to be laughing at Opie changing wigs, or the cheap shot at Palin?

Frank T.J Mackey on October 23, 2008 at 1:43 PM

Didn’t President Bush give Andy Griffith the Presidential Medal of Freedom? Nice way to say thank you, I guess…

warrenmr on October 23, 2008 at 1:44 PM

Did fonzie just call Sarah Palin loose?

i had a douche chill watching that…very cringe inducing

coondawg on October 23, 2008 at 2:02 PM

Thats not the Sherriff Taylor I knew.

Besides will someone please remind Ron, Andy and Henry that President Bush and Vice President Cheney are not running in this campaign.

warrenmr on October 23, 2008 at 1:44 PM

Did you get a look at Andy? I’m not sure he remembers where he put it.

manwithblackhat on October 23, 2008 at 2:12 PM

If endorsements are any indication of whom to vote for, well then the fact Iran, Hamas and Hugo have endorsed THE ONE that should be reason enough not to vote for Obambi!

I am personally waiting for the OBL endorsement of Obama out of curiosity to see how the MSM will spin it!

It should be a no brainer for anyone with half a brain, if your sworn enemies are endorsing a candidate I would go with the other candidate, but then again I’m making the assumption the left have half a brain!

Oh and I met Henry Winkler back in the 70′s when he was a celebrity, I remember he was very short in stature (I was in 6th grade and was almost as tall as he was) and now I know he is also short in intelligence!

[screaming] NNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

apacalyps on October 23, 2008 at 2:38 PM

One word……

Oy.

LibertarianConservative on October 23, 2008 at 2:49 PM

I hope Barry appreciates all these white people making complete idiots of themselves for his sake. Something tells me he doesn’t and never will.

UnEasyRider on October 23, 2008 at 3:20 PM

It’s not ok with Winkler that Palin has killed a moose, but it is ok with him that B.O. approves of killing babies…because Bush was bad? Uncool. Fonzy needs to go back to school. The idea that the 50′s were a more innocent time just died for me.

Numenorean on October 23, 2008 at 3:34 PM

Were any real fish hurt in the filming of this??

jeffersonschild on October 23, 2008 at 3:49 PM

If we must be subjected to celebrity endorsements, may they all be like this.

Agreed.

That actually gave me the warm fuzzies.

No yelling, screaming or demanding…just giving us his honest opinion.

That’s how you do it, Hollywood liberals.

The Ugly American on October 23, 2008 at 3:58 PM

Wow! If nothing else, they sure did good with the makeup! (except for Andy – he is looking really old, but I hope I look that good at 82!).

AP:

You missed the best possible line about this:

Didn’t Fonzie jumped the shark a few decades ago?

Debbie Schlussel on October 23, 2008 at 4:55 PM

OOPS. I meant “jump the shark” (not “jumped”).

Debbie Schlussel on October 23, 2008 at 4:56 PM

Ever notice that the libs always use the, “I’m not speaking as a Democrat of a Republican. I have Conservative friends. Blah blah blah.”

Yuk, it just made me feel old.

Rose on October 23, 2008 at 6:47 PM

He didn’t give one single thing Obama would do, not one reason to vote for ‘the one’. It was all Bush is bad, change is good. What exactly, outside of the fact that Obama isn’t Bush, does he like about Obama?

Mulligan on October 23, 2008 at 7:06 PM

I feel sick. Not Andy Griffith, too!

This will sound judgmental, but he’s supposed to be a Christian man, and imo, no true Christian can vote for a man who has voted against the Born Alive bill, or a man who is at his heart, a Marxist, on and on. What kind of southener has he morphed into? Lord, he should know better.

Funny, I will take Ron’s advice at the end and I will vote with my “heart, mind, courage, and vision”, that’s why I’m voting MCCAIN!

I’m so disgusted right now.

Aslans Girl on October 23, 2008 at 7:34 PM

srhoades and Flatfoot, I had no idea about Mr. Griffith. What a huge diappointment. Glad I didn’t know it until today because I wouldn’t have been able to enjoy the reruns of one of my favorite shows of all time, The Andy Griffith Show. I may never be able to watch them the same way again.

-Aslan’s Girl

Aslans Girl on October 23, 2008 at 7:51 PM

NOOOOOOO!!!!! Say it ain’t so, Andy! My family will be devastated.

CP on October 23, 2008 at 9:33 PM

This has been quite a year for disillusionment. First Mary Ann is a pot head and now Opie and Andy are socialists.

deewhybee on October 23, 2008 at 10:16 PM

So Opie says he’s desperate. Liberals are desperate! They lie, cheat, steal and hurt people in order to get what they want. But then again they support a candidate who is a liar, cheater and a friend to terrorists, so what can one expect.

ochiltree on October 23, 2008 at 11:28 PM

Yes folks, ole Andy down here in NC is active every political season to do TV and radio ads for Dems exclusively. He and Howard never supported a Republican that I ever heard of. Don’t fall for their down home BS.

Boycott all of Hollywood.

If you wouldn’t give your money to Obama, why would you give it to people who do.

hawkdriver on October 24, 2008 at 2:53 AM

I suspect that “Andy Taylor” would vote for McCain, but Andy Griffith the Hollywood actor has, as mentioned above, has always been a Democrat.

I still like him though.

ZzzzDad on October 24, 2008 at 3:06 AM

Ok, so we vote for the most deceitful candidate, to get a government we can trust?

liberal logic
