I had seen pictures from the footage but never realized that McCain had actually been interviewed. Somehow I thought the only thing he ever said was his name and rank.

I agree to a point, but I think the reason they hates us is because we force them to look in the mirror and we stand in the way of their attempts to radicalize the country.

Actually, the most radicalactivists among them will probably be some of the first to vanish. As the machine of socialism begins to consolidate its power, history indicates that no activists are tolerated. The gay rights, black power, code pink, Cindy Sheahan types are too prone to causing trouble for the Stalins and Maos of the world. Or maybe this is just a sort of poetic justice.

I can’t help but wonder though, how curious it is that suddenly we have all these die-hard McCain supporters in the audience. You see, I was here supporting him during the primaries, when everybody was calling him Juan McCain and McShamnesty and all that crap. Just wondering, you know.

I separate John McCain the senator from John McCain the naval aviator. He was not my first choice to get the GOP nomination (nor was he my second nor my third). Every time he says “my friends,” he reminds me of Juan Hernandez. And I also have a beef with him ever since he voted in favor of that bailout bill.

But… you will never hear me speak ill of his military record.

I don’t think Obama could do that. I think Obama would be looking for an angle to work. I don’t think he is radical in the way that Ayers is, or anti American in the way that Wright is, I just think he is opportunistic and self serving. The real Obama is all about him.

Ah, the French and Vietnam (Indochine…). You think Nam screwed up this country politically and culturally, you should take a look at France. France and the US have much more in common culturally than you’d think, then and now.

I’ve spent more than a few months over the past few years visiting and mostly taking the time to speak to the older generation of folks, (i.e. grew up in the late 50′s to 60′s). The majority attitude amoung the then working class that I spoke to was pretty much “we should have won, but our government allowed itself to be bullied by a small minority of leftists”. Sound familiar?

I also spoke to a lot of younger folks (some relatives, some not) and it was a complete waste of time…80% are hard core leftists who aren’t interested in a real political discussion or the consequences of “anti-globilization” or “anti-this or that”. They hate Sarkozy for no other reason than just hate (SDS?). Even the 20% “conservative” are only interested in greater State ecomony control to the greater glory of La France.

As an aside, for all the reputation of the French, I noticed (in Paris!) that the average Parisian is much much worse dressed than your average American. Hard to believe, but you gotta trust me on this. I was there again this summer, and taking the shuttle from CDG into Paris was about 1.5 hours and for the first time I noticed how truly shabby Parisians dress! Sure, plenty of hot ladies and such to break the pattern, but on the whole, pretty bad.

So in that clip McCain says north vietnamese doctors saved his life and that he was treated well. Is that true?

As a retired 20 year Navy Vet I am positive that John McCain is a hero. I would use him as a role model for my children any day, unlike Prez wannabe BO.
Anyone who defends his country in the military has my vote as a hero, especially all of those Viet Nam vets who all of you left-wing pussies spat on and called baby killers.
I am thoughly disgusted in all of you and would challenge any of you to go somewhere like Iran or Cuba or Venezuela and say the same things about their leaders and see what would happen.
But since you live in the USA and people like John McCain and myself have fought for your freedoms, you can say all of the crap you want without fear of retribution, even if you don’t deserve it.
