Why take the chance at all? Why not just elect the man that sends a message of strength and tenacity to both enemies and allies abroad?

Because at least when America is attacked, we’ll all have free gubmint healthcare to treat us and a $300 check to start replacing the thousands we lost in our investments.

And Kennedy dealt with a rational enemy in 1961. What kind of signals would Barack Obama send the apocalyptic Iranian mullahcracy in his drive to hold a summit with no preconditions with Mahmoud Ahmadinejad? Would they also see him as a weakling and start a war with Israel as a result?

Yes. Israel will have to fend for itself if Obama wins.

The best answer came from Bolton when he appeared on H&C the other night: Colmes was whining about how Osama Obama (rightfully) wants to talk to the enemies of America, and Bolton replied, “what is he going to say?”

That’s the nut of the whole thing. An inexperienced, Marxist fool whose mind has to have been clouded by his associations (Ayers, Odinga, et al) won’t have much to say other than the same frothy platitudes about “hope” and “change” he has been mouthing on the campaign trail. Moreover, having weakened the military — as he has said he’ll do — and sent a clear message by cutting and running in Iraq, he will already have telegraphed his “punches.”

We’ll soon find out, won’t we? The trolls of the nation seem set to get their way, and have as president a man who will plunge the nation into a modern Dark Ages (yeah, I know, that’s racist) of capitulation, financial ruin and totalitarianism.

I would disagree, but only in that Obama’s lack of a paper trail only obscures what a catastrophe his policies will always be. I don’t think he will get any better with age.
Dave wants to paint a picture of a crazed psychopath hiding behind the doormat, but the reality is Obama has been selling doormat and toady to the rest of the world. Our enemies are not going to “test” him, they are going to try to take advantage of the weakness he is advertising. 9/11 was not a test of Bush, it was an attack on the people of the US to take advantage of a weakness of the US people that the Clinton years had convinced bin Laden was there.

Review McCain’s military career. It consisted of much more than sitting in a jet fighter on the deck of a carrier. Obama has no military experience – at least Kennedy commanded a PT boat in the war. Nevertheless, Kennedy’s foreign policy was a disaster (Bay of Pigs, Vienna Summit) mitigated only by the fact tha we barely managed to avoid nuclear war (Missile Crisis).

McCain is an older, wiser man with considerable political experience and wisdom. Obama is a young neophyte with less national political experience than Kennedy had.

McCain has made it pretty clear by now that his foreign policy will be a Reagan redux. His long tenure in politics left a voluminious paper trail that anyone can peruse to understand how he thinks.

Obama has no paper trail. At all. Hs transcripts, theses – even his medical records – are all sealed. Other than what he has said in public during his campaign and told us in his 2 books, we have no idea how or what he tinks. The man is a complete cipher. What he has told about about his foreign policy intentions makes it clear that he’ll be a Jimmy Carter redux.

And we all know how well THAT went, don’t we?

Sorry, Dave. Unless you are being wilfully obtuse, even you have to admit that our enemies would much rather have Obama in the White House than McCain.
