Video: The obligatory “Palin protesters versus Colorado cops” clip

A quickie to clear the mind and the palate on this slow news Tuesday. No one was arrested because the cops had to rejoin the motorcade, but they’re looking for suspects.
After you’re done, have a look at this — which I’ve seen flagged by no one except Ben Smith, who, as a commenter notes, treats it as an almost quaint example of New York culture — and ponder the cable news reaction if some righty group ran a similar graphic of The One.

You don’t see too many Republicans pulling these kinds of shenanigans due to the fact that we have jobs and don’t have time to throw our bodies in front of vehicles early in the day.

That was great.
Although these “protestors” were treated far too gently. I would have preferred to see more blood and broken bones.
What exactly are these jackasses protesting, anyway? She’s the Governor of Alaska. They’re in Colorado.
Do they think their crappy, unqualified candidate might blow the election? Me too.

Where is the taser, nighstick, or water cannon when you need it? Heck just give em some american made front bumper to teach a lesson. :)
Hammerhead on October 21, 2008 at 2:16 PM
Yeah, but protesters are usually greasy and gunk up the running gear. Then you have to spend an entire day at one of those car washes with the pressure sprayer, and your fingers get all crampy from squeezing the trigger.
You have to weigh the pros and cons.

Liberals are petulant children. Why is it only Liberals who behave this way and why can’t mature Liberals make this observation and then ask themselves the same questions?
DerKrieger on October 21, 2008 at 2:17 PM
If they want to help Obama, they need to be throwing themselves in front of Biden’s motorcade.

…which calls for baton action. Let’s see some.
MadisonConservative on October 21, 2008 at 2:23 PM
People (not here on HA) think that the cops were too rough on the protesters for no reason. Think about this, they were trying to stop the motorcade in a specific location. Bad juju happens when you allow someone to dictate where and when to stop.
On a side note, did you know that every time you punch a hippy in the nose, an angel grows wings.

LOL. Barry the Vampire Slayer. This could actually accrue to Palin’s benefit, as it may draw in the critical hematophage demographic – although I suspect her unwavering Christian faith may be a deterrent to some of them.
ManlyRash on October 21, 2008 at 2:31 PM
I remember writing a piece in high school about this idiot called Brian Wilson, who sat on train tracks in Concord protesting US arms shipments to Nicaragua. Well, he got hit by a train because he didn’t get off the tracks and ended up losing his legs and having a portion of his skull removed. These protesters remind me of him, idiots who don’t understand momentum.

Good. I hope the cops beat the stupid off of them.
The bad part. The cops will probably be on administrative duty pending an investigation. We need to allow the cops to do their jobs. If they need to use force, especially on scum like this, unleash hell.

OT, sorry: Rush just said the Obama campaign is investigating Joe the Plumber, and they haven’t found “anything substantive” on him “yet”. Did I hear that right? The CAMPAIGN is investigating him? I knew his flying monkeys and the media were digging in his dumpster, but…Obama’s own campaign admitted they were too?
capitalist piglet on October 21, 2008 at 2:36 PM
You have to soak the moonbats longer in buttermilk to remove the tire tracks, but mashed moonbat on pancakes is a delicacy.

Limerick on October 21, 2008 at 2:38 PM
You kind of misunderstood the discussion – that comment was by a caller, who Rush quickly cut off and explained that it isn’t the place of Obama’s campaign to “investigate” ANYONE. However, he didn’t make it clear whether or not he actually knew/believed the Obama campaign was the one doing the investigating, if he was just using that term as his usual application of the MSM as an “extension” of the Democrat party/Obama campaign, or if he was simply borrowing the caller’s terminology.

Stick them in jail and make them sweat attempted assassination charges. They do this because they are allowed to get away with it. It’s like that code pink leader that rushed Palin at a really or the one that got into the face of Sec. Rice. Both of them should have been charged with attempted assassination. Some may think it harsh but one of these days that will be what is going on and nobody will move until it’s too late. Let me also make it clear that I feel that same about protestors doing this to any political figure.
jmarcure on October 21, 2008 at 2:42 PM
I love the motivation these officers have… I think police hate protesters no matter what their “cause” is… police are very protective of motorcades, there is something inherent in the vulnerability of the objective, it puts them on edge, from what I see they could have been a little less forceful. the solidarity of the “police line” was broken when they just started diving in to the pile…

And they’ve used the same amazing reasoning skills to reach the conclusion that Obama is the better choice for president. See why we think Obama voters are morons? They are clearly lacking a sense of self-preservation. Voting for Obama is the equivalent of throwing yourself in front of a large moving vehicle. I just have a problem with them trying to drag the rest of us under the tires as well.

But potentially hazardous to your health – you just don’t [want to] know where its been.
In the days of suicide bombers – you can’t allow these people close to their targets no matter what. Especially when we have news organizations like MSNBC giving press credentials out.
People who rush a target – no matter who they are, need to be taken down HARD and potentially FATALLY – just as of they were in a car rushing a checkpoint in Baghdad.

Not just momentum – security. If they thought the motorcade would stop and thus give attackers, including possibly unseen assailants, a chance to strengthen their position, they’re dangerously delusional.

L.N. Smithee on October 21, 2008 at 3:38 PM
The police did an excellent job. The first one goes up to the knuckleheads holding the sign nearest the sidewalk and pulls them and knocks them down. This causes the moonbats on the other end to move in that direction, when they are knocked down by additional officers from behind. It must be a tactical move they are taught to do.
Again, good job, officers.

I simply don’t understand the reason/motive for attempting to stop a motorcade.
Sure, you don’t like Gov. Palin.
But how does that translate into the need for you to stop her motorcade?
Again and again, the far left shows that they aren’t interested or care about the rights of people they disagree with. They simply want them to be gone.
