It’s not fundamentally sound — he hits high, not low, and there’s no attempt to wrap him up — but as “ineligible personnel inexplicably and egregiously interfering with play” clips go, it’s a keeper. Insert it in the lowlight reel between Terrible Terry Tate’s hit on Palin and that cop taking down a bicyclist in New York.
The SEC claims it’s perfectly innocent, that the ref got crossed up in trying to get out of the way. I say: Check out that forearm action. Exit question: What happened here? And is it relevant that the ref used to be a linebacker for Kentucky?

Victim of a bad camera angle. Who directed that shot, Charlie Gibson?

What was the point spread?

mr.blacksheep makes a very good point. To the extent that the media are unofficial, but nevertheless de facto referees, or umpires in our election process, we have seen a lot of strikingly similar plays throughout this year.

That looked WAY too deliberate to me. He got ready, put his forearm out, and hit the QB. I think the ref’s reaction after the hit was telling. It looked to me like a “I got you, you sumbitch”.
