[...] Aside from all this, Colin Powell went on MSNBC’s Meet the Press to make an argument for why he was REALLY supporting Obama. According to Powell, it wasn’t because they shared liberal views or that both are black, OH NO, it is because of his “strength of character” and that he is a “transitional candidate” who’s charisma will win over our enemies. Excuse me? Powell then goes on to say that, “because of his ability to inspire, because of the inclusive nature of his campaign, because he is reaching out all across America, because of who he is and his rhetorical abilities, you have to take that into account, as well as his substance, he has both style and substance, he has met the standard of being a successful President, being an exceptional President” and that is why he is supporting him. What does that even mean? Nowhere does Powell mention Obama’ experience, nor his ability to handle the tough issues facing America, not even his strong leadership capabilities which will be needed in confronting the country’s enemies, most notably Vladimir Putin, the former head of the KGB and now undisputed leader of Russia. I guess that is why Joe Biden warned us yesterday eh? [...]

<blockquote>Joe Biden handed the Republicans a gift yesterday, and they’re taking advantage of it quickly.</blockquote>

They darn well better. They need to do the media's job and expose the true thinking of these liberals. America at large would not like very much what they are all about - the rose colored glasses need to be shattered.

Unfortunately, you're right. I probably should have taken my logic one step further, vis-a-vis the UN. This whole thing reminds me of the last episode of South Park, where Wendy threatens to beat Cartman's @$$ over his idiot behavior regarding breast cancer. Cartman goes crying to Wendy's parents, who forbid her to fight. Principal Victoria finds out about the situation, and encourages Wendy to beat the hell out of Cartman anyway. No such voice of reason exists on the world stage.

<blockquote>Why is this race even close? Obama is the most unqualified boob to ever run for president, and BIden just says the stupidest things. Again I ask, how can this be close? - Tommy_G on October 21, 2008 at 10:21 AM</blockquote>

Drive-By Media. If they were doing their jobs, Obama wouldn't even be running for president now but likely would be under indictment. It is what it is and there is no point moping over it.

Instead, look at it from another perspective: Obama has been campaigning for this office for over a year. He has a well-oiled campaign machine that has spent nearly half a billion dollars on rallies, GOTV efforts, television, radio and print ads. The Drive-By media is completely in the tank for him as is all of Hollywood.

And yet - just two weeks away from election day - his poll numbers are either steady or dropping from the five point lead he has over McCain. And THAT is based on an oversampling of Democrat voters.

The current Battleground Poll has Obama at 48% and McCain at 47% - and this does not factor in the Bradley Effect, which automatically reduces his percentage between 3% and 5% at a minimum.

He is sinking and he knows it. He will grow desperate in the next two weeks and will do anything to recover lost ground. Unfortunately, the harder he attacks, the deeper he will sink. His network infomercial nine days from now will backfire. Joe the Plumber exposed Obama for he socialist fraud he is and that message is beginning to resonate throught middle America.

Throughout all of this the Drive-Bys will pedal their Obama Bikes furiously on his behalf, with glowing coverage and ridiculously lop-sided polls, but the harder they pedal, the slower his campaign will go.

On November 4 John McCain will win handily.

Why is this race even close? Obama is the most unqualified boob to ever run for president, and BIden just says the stupidest things. Again I ask, how can this be close?

</blockquote>
Why? Three sets of three letters, all of which contain a 'B' and a 'C' and anyone with a TV can see for free.

Ok, so McCain didn't get the Powell endoresement. He did, however pick up one far more useful:

He was endorsed by the running mate of his opponent!

This sounds like something Sarah would love to run with!

I hope this isn't over and I suspect its not. But If we should lose, we may just have to accept that America, at least the majority of our citizens, have forgotten too much. We have had almost non stop growth since the 80's. When people talk of the poor in America today they are mostly talking about people who have multiple dvd players, are overweight, and at least one video game system.

People my age (under thirty five and I will be there in the next few months) and younger just have no concept of what scary is. Most don't remember the cold war when it was a WAR. Obama may be that reminder, just like Carter was,to educate them.

Maybe an international crisis early in his Presidency will wake people up from their hope and change chanting before he can enact his socialist agenda. Its a long, long shot I know. I am not one of those saying an Obama win is good for the party in the long run. But if he wins, it tells us how much we have forgotten.

I would prefer Chavez pulling something stupid to Iran, but maybe thats not possible. But 9/11 did completely shatter terrorism as a police matter for a time. I can't believe it wasn't enough, but maybe we need more. But I do believe there still is a line that we wont cross as a nation.

Our problem as a nation is our short term memory. An Obama win, as even Biden says, could change that real, real quick.

<blockquote>Should Obama rethink JFK-Khrushchev?

http://www.swamppolitics.com/news/politics/blog/2008/05/obama_should_rethink_jfkkrusch.html

“Khrushchev’s aide, after the first day, said the American president seemed “very inexperienced, even immature.” Khrushchev agreed, noting that the youthful Kennedy was “too intelligent and too weak.” The Soviet leader left Vienna elated — and with a very low opinion of the leader of the free world.”

I think the point here is not that US Presidents should care about enemy leaders think of them, but rather that these leaders have nothing else by which to judge a new, young US President with no record.

The enemies of the US know John McCain and how he would likely react precisely because of his long record of public service. This is a good thing and the McCain camp should hammer this point.
