“I can give you at least four or five scenarios from where it might originate,” Biden said to Emerald City supporters, mentioning the Middle East and Russia as possibilities. “And he’s gonna need help. And the kind of help he’s gonna need is, he’s gonna need you – not financially to help him – we’re gonna need you to use your influence, your influence within the community, to stand with him. Because it’s not gonna be apparent initially, it’s not gonna be apparent that we’re right.”

What does this highlighted bit mean? He’s talking with campaign donors, not a specific segment of people, right? So what does he mean by “influence the community”?

This is the weirdest part of what he said. What the heck is he talking about?

In any event, I don’t think the metrosexual look that appears to be so popular in Obama’s Hyde Park is really going to intimidate the Taliban, Vladimir Putin or Hugo Chavez.

In other words, it’s not about who you’d rather have a beer with, but who you’d rather have standing behind you in a bar fight?

I only hope we can prevent the Dems from successfully blaming this on the GOP come 2012 when they make the claim that things are so bad because they’ve been trying to clean up from 8 years of Republican mismanagement.

McCain’s ad this morning (in Philly area):

“The past eight years have not turned out too well, haven’t it? I am going to make the next four years better.”

WTFFFFF? Is this the final payback for McCain’s failed 2000 run? Just when you think finally you can vote for this guy, he comes out and makes it SOOOO VERY HARD to pull the lever for him.

I understand what Albright means in her argument — that any change of administration would tempt America’s enemies to test the new President to see how far they can go. However, Biden’s comments went much further than that. He pointed to the inexperience of his running mate as a special incentive for creating a crisis, and that his response would probably look unsatisfactory:

Both Biden’s and “not so’s” comments reflect too much time inside DC. This is the kind of stuff that should be discussed as part of private national security discussions- not as fundraisers or in the national media (though not so pretty much had to for damage control purposes).
