Yesterday, Sarah Palin sat down for an interview with CNN's Drew Griffin. What came out of that interview is a textbook example of media twisting facts and taking something totally out of context. Below is an exerpt from that interview.

CNN: "Yeah. Governor, you've been mocked in the press. The press has been pretty hard on you, the Democrats have been pretty hard on you, but also some conservatives have been pretty hard on you as well. The National Review had a story saying that, you know, I can't tell if Sarah Palin is incompetent, stupid, unqualified, corrupt or all of the above."

Palin: "Who wrote that one?"

CNN: "That was in the National Review, I don't, have the author."

Well, Mr Griffin, the author was Byron York, and here is what he really said October 20th in the National Review (I have included the full paragraph for context):

"Watching press coverage of the Republican candidate for vice president, it’s sometimes hard to decide whether Sarah Palin is incompetent, stupid, unqualified, corrupt, backward, or — or, well, all of the above. Palin, the governor of Alaska, has faced more criticism than any vice-presidential candidate since 1988, when Democrats and the press tore into Dan Quayle. In fact, Palin may have it even worse than Quayle, since she’s taking flak not only from Democrats and the press but from some conservative opinion leaders as well."

What is CNN's motto-"The Most Trusted Source in News"? Was this just an example of Mr Griffin's incompetence-or was this a deliberate twisting and misrepresentaion of the facts? Will CNN apologize to Obama and the public? Probably not.

Is there anybody out there who still believes that the news media (with the exception of Fox News and talk radio)is not totally committed to helping Barak Obama win the election? Perhaps you think that once Obama is in the White House, the media will become his adversary, will "speak truth to power" and all that. Wrong. The media, if Obama is elected, will spend the years of his administration acting as his defender. Why? Because they share Obama's ideology. The media today is nothing more than an arm of one political party-the Democrats.

Is that good for democracy?

But she <strong>oughta </strong>say it, word for word! She ought to say that because of The One's inexperience, we're going to be tested, etc. She ought to, and dare the media to report it (unlike the Biden quote).

Don't fret it Sarah ... look at the bright side. You got all those SWELL clothes the RNC bought you to parade around in when you return to Wasilla Nov 5! You will be the best dressed woman in all of Alaska also, by golly.

Running for President of the Senate has been good, at least clothing wise.

Re: Action Lines for Final Campaign Weeks

Okay, people, this is it! We're into the home stretch, and looking great, thanks to your tireless efforts. An awful lot of scary stuff has come at us since the debates, but you've done a beautiful job of watching Barry's back, and he really appreciates it. Hell, everyone around here knows we should have been buried after the sub-prime crisis hit - Joe even thought we should work on a tearful resignation speech and approach Hillary about taking over as the candidate. The big lug even called her and asked if he could stay on as V.P.! Sure, Joe takes a lot of ribbing around here, but we all know those huge Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac donations were a gun aimed right at Barry's head, and you guys and gals turned it right around and pointed it at the Repubs! That was some serious jiu-jutsu... or is that judo... I always get those two mixed up. Anyway, here are your action lines for the final weeks of the campaign:

1. We've put together a damage control system for the next time Joe goes off the reservation. We're going to need the cell phone numbers of your floor producers and lead camera techs to make it work. Tell your people that if they're filming a Biden interview, and they receive a text message from campaign HQ with the kill code, they should cut Joe's mike, or "accidentally" switch the feed to something else, until we send the "all clear." We're going to start with "SLING BLADE" as a kill code. We haven't thought of an all-clear code yet, although Michelle O has offered some colorful suggestions.

2. Some of you have expressed concerns about Barney Frank turning up on TV and giving interviews about fiscal policy. It does seem like a little much to shove him in the voters' faces like that - I mean, they're dumb, but they're not stupid, right? Barry agrees it would be better if he laid low until after the Big Day. Barry promised him that after he's elected, he'll spend a couple million of those juicy new tax dollars on Krugerrands and let Barney take a treasure bath. That should keep him happy.

3. We realize the wing-nut bloggers have sort of forced Bill Ayers into the news, but we should be able to minimize the damage with a few more "nobody cares about Ayers" pieces. Axelrod says he'll get some more blog comments posted on the big righty sites to that effect. Someone from NBC asked if it might be helpful to do a big, slobbery "human interest" story on Ayers, like you guys usually do on Barry. Negative, negative, negative. The less said about him, the better. To the gal from CBS that asked if Barry really plans to put Ayers in the Department of Education: what are you worried about? You people all send your kids to top private schools, am I right?

4. We got a call from Chicago that a reporter was recently seen there... kind of had us worried a bit, until we ran a background check and found out the guy was just in town to visit his relatives. I don't want to see any of your people anywhere except Wasilla, across the street from that plumber guy's house, and wherever Barry happens to be standing.

5. Time to start tightening those polls up a bit. We need the base to feel anxious and eager to vote, not fat, dumb, and happy. CBS - you've been going overboard, kids. Where are you taking those polls, your break room? Let's get McCain within, say, one or two points. Balance that out with some more "Obamacans" - crank it up to about 20%-25% of Republicans saying they'll vote for the Big O. See if Chris Buckley can get you a list of "lifelong Republicans" you can poll. We want that Obamacan number up, to keep the wing-nuts feeling defeated. Yes, they DO read the poll internals, God love em.

6. Effective immediately, the old action lines about Colin Powell are null and void. New line is that he is America's greatest military hero. Anticipating the follow-up from MSNBC: yes, greater than John Kerry.

OK, that about wraps it up! Invites to the victory party going out next week. Axelrod thinks you should try calling Florida early again, before the Panhandle voting booths close - yeah, I thought it was a little obvious too, but what the hell, it's been eight years. You can always claim it was an honest mistake, based on an early tidal wave of excited young Obama voters. Andrea Mitchell asked about writing Michelle's biography - sorry babe, we already gave that plum away to Peggy Noonan, but we'll see if we can set you up with the kids for something after the inauguration. Remember, no wearing Obama/Biden buttons on the air, until after Election Night is completely over! Love you guys!

Barak says we are "bitter clingers" and Biden says "Barak will be tested" by a "manufactured crisis." Both statements belie what the Democrats really believe because both statements are made to private audiences of big donors when the understanding was no cameras or microphones would be present.

Call it pillow talk.
