It's a smart move. He should assume he will win Florida and North Carolina by small margins already and put most of his effort into winning Ohio and Pennsylvania. If McCain can take Ohio and Pennsylvania he will be in position to get the electoral votes needed for him to win

early voting in NC so far is heavy Democrat, hopefully the acorn voters are dumb enough to mark straight ticket Dem, because that isn’t a vote in Presidential race if they do

Considering the problems we are having counting and verifying the popular vote nationwide on a single day across the country, there’s an argument for keeping the electoral college but going back to having the states pick electors by other means!

CK MacLeod on October 21, 2008 at 2:15 PM

Yes, exactly. The Founders were deathly afraid of mass democracy and the effect it would have on the Republic. Events seem to be bearing them out. The Electoral College, vestigial though it has become, is our last bulwark against mob rule.

Heard somewhere today that in the primaries, Obama's lead was typically overestimated by 7 points. Don't know if it's true, but if it is, and if the trend is also happening now, this race is closer than we think. Furthermore, we don't know the racial make up of these polls either. If they are oversampling black voters, that's going to skew the numbers too.

Anyway, though I don't believe it's real, let's hope the Bradley effect is more real this year than ever before in the history of elections.

WHAT ABOUT IOWA???

If Iowa is such a lock for Obama, why has McCain been there recently...

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2101526/posts

And why was Obama scheduled to go there this Thursday?...

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB122455278869552829.html?mod=googlenews_wsj

The internal polling MUST be good news for the McCain camp. All over the map.

Something is going on here.

I can feel it.

And, it's not a tingly feeling shooting up my leg.

That’s because there are a lot of them available down at the local McCain/Palin store … there are no Obama yard signs to be found anywhere and has been that way about the same time Palin’s unfavorables started to sink like a stone.

Monkei on October 21, 2008 at 4:50 PM
There are plenty of Obama signs around too, but believe me, I live in a VERY Democratic area. If there are that many McCain/Palin signs out in my neighborhood, Obama is in trouble.

McCain’s in Bucks County, where I live, today and Cindy was here yesterday with Rudy Giuliani. Today’s local paper has a huge headline and photo of Cindy at a rally yesterday, saying “Cindy Wows Crowd of 1000″.

I have said it over and over and over again. PA is in play. There are significant reasons Obama lost to Clinton by 17 points and not all of them are related to people loving Clinton

My friends, John McCain is no Hillary Clinton. If McCain is putting all his marbles in PA ... then he won't have any marbles at the end of the day.

Turn out the lights ... the parties over.

It makes more sense to vote for John McCain.

And therein lies the problem. Common sense has taken a back seat to Comedy Central.

McCain's in Bucks County, where I live, today and Cindy was here yesterday with Rudy Giuliani. Today's local paper has a huge headline and photo of Cindy at a rally yesterday, saying "Cindy Wows Crowd of 1000". That's looking out from all the newspaper boxes in this area today. Great, free advertising. There will be more tomorrow from McCain's news-making new speech today.

I have 20 houses in my development, and 10 of them have McCain signs in front of them. There were only 2 Bush-Cheney signs in 2004. McCain is really popular here; Republicans are not as conservative socially but very conservative on fiscal and foreign policy. I can't tell you how many people I meet who tell me they never liked Bush, and some did not even vote for him, because - of all things - his stance on stem cell research! But they are voting for McCain.

Obama lost Bucks County badly in the primary. There are a lot of PUMAs here too.

I stopped by HQ for a bumper sticker and was told they have volunteers and phone bankers aplenty. I just got contacted by the campaign for the GOTV effort, which will be huge here. If McCain can win Bucks County, he definitely has a shot at the state.

Dude. I've been traveling across PA for the last couple of days. I was in Lebanon last night. Tonight I'm in Morgantown. So far I've seen 3 Obama signs and hundreds of McCain signs. Either all the Obama supporters are closet supporters or the pollsters are going to embarrassed as hell on November 5.

According to G. Gordon Liddy, without a doubt and I agree, the CNN and other MSM polls are being rigged. Just like they were when Hillary Clinton was running again Obama, the media MISINFORMED the public using the polls and Hillary won the state in that contest at the time. The poll takers were embarrassed.

It may be that John McCain is far out ahead in most of the states -- and that is why the poll-takers are asking some really strange questions. There's also the Bradley effect -- one that could give John McCain as much as a 4 to 5 point advantage in every state.

People love Sarah Palin. Just recently she drew 22,000 people at one campaign stop. And, thanks to Joe Biden; Obama is now, more than ever, seen as very inexperienced. Add to that the Colin Powell fake endorsement -- one coming from a guy whose lying started the Iraq war. And, by the way, what ever happened to Obama's refinement of his Iraq policy? I guess he was too busy entertaining Germans and Frenchies who don't even speak English -- did they even understand what Obama was saying? I think not.
Obama was so enthralled with himself that he chose NOT to visit our American troops at a German hospital -- Obama's just not very patriotic.

It makes more sense to vote for John McCain. McCain is honor, integrity, proven leadership and, above all, a well respected patriot.

God bless America.
