I would not be surprised if those people and their stupid Muslin/Socialist bumper stickers are really democrat operatives, trying to create bad press for McCain people.

I really like what Colin Powell said. It shouldn’t matter if Obama is Muslim or Christian. It’s the height of ignorance to assume that just because somebody Muslim, there somehow sympathetic to terrorism.
Ric on October 20, 2008 at 3:26 PM
Exactly. We don’t need innuendo and religious bigotry to defeat Obama. We can just look at his policies, and gauge that he would be terrible for this country. The McCain rep was great in that video.

Which is not to say that all muslims are jihadists, but still.
I am still waiting for the muslim groups to step forward and condemn terrorism, as well as pro western muslim groups to step forward…
hippie_chucker on October 20, 2008 at 3:31 PM
My, that’s perceptive.
Muslims supporting McCain cause a couple of bigoted dingalings to slink away in shame, and all the trolls can say is “conservatives are a bunch of stupid bigots.”
Obamanoids tend to be more like the guy in the red shirt: willing to hit the opposition with any slur they like.
And let’s remember how tolerant Osama Obama and his goons are of dissent….
MrScribbler on October 20, 2008 at 3:31 PM
I suppose you are a great scholar of Islam. The problem is radical Islamists, not Islam in general. Ever catch the movie Obsession? It features Daniel Pipes, who even make the point that it’s radical Islamists that are the issue and the majority are moderate, peaceful people. Zalmay Khalilzad is Muslim.
amerpundit on October 20, 2008 at 3:31 PM
Uh, Obama a Socialist? He is for “shareing the wealth” and his science advisor has said that if elected they will immedialty declare Carbon Dioxide as a dangerous gas under the EPA, so they can start to regulate it WITHOUT the Congress having to do anything… so… TOTAL control of the economy, with wealth redistribution… sounds Socialist to me.
Islamic background? He was, for five years, between the ages of 5 and 10, in a school in Indonesia, where he was enrolled as a Moslem. His Father was Moslem… we don’t know about his mother, but its hard to imagine she remained a practicing Christian in that Moslem household… and he did take classes in the Moslem religion…. so… Moslem background? Argueably true.
So, just where is that statement incorrect?

“Obama is a socialist with an Islamic background”
Pretty much played straight down the middle. No quibbles. He is a socialist, and he does have an Islamic background.
It’s possible to derive an array of inferences from those two simple facts, some rational, some not so.
Obama should be disqualified due to the fact he’s a big gubmint socialist – a platform inherently antithetical to America.
However, I’m pretty sure that nobody cares about the constitution anymore….
LimeyGeek on October 20, 2008 at 3:32 PM
OT, slightly:
Shep Smith was flogging the RNC chairman on FNC asking, “Are you accusing Barack Obama of having some kind of tehrrist feelings?” and “To repeat the question sir,…”
The RNC chairman just kept repeating: No that’s not what I’m saying… this about Barack’s judgement and obfuscation.
Grrr…. when Glenn Beck came over from CNN, couldn’t this have been worked out as a trade???
CNN: Please say, “Red Rover, Red Rover, send Shep on over!”
silverfox on October 20, 2008 at 3:33 PM
Obama is not a Muslim. If he is/was, I don’t really care. There is no worldwide Islamic movement to take over the world (yet.)
Obama is a Marxist-Socialist. That is not a “conspiracy theory” or “smear.” It is a fact borne out both by his past associations and employment as well as a great deal of what he has said – oftentimes in unguarded moments – during this campaign. And there is, and has been for some time, a definitely campaign by Marxist radicals to spread Socialism, Communism and other collectivist ideologies across the globe.
A vote for Obama is a vote for this movement. There is no way around it.

I’m on board with calling him a socialist. He is one, by definition of his proposed policies.
I don’t believe there is no proof or foundation for calling him an Muslim. If he was one, and converted, that would be apostacy. I just don’t believe it.

Ugh.
These people are the equivalent of the code pinkers. They only serve to undermine the campaign, and they’re annoyingly wrong to boot. They’re cretins who latched onto a mass email and never let go despite the fact that it was disproven.
The cretin label also applies to anyone here who helps perpetuate the image of conservatives as desperate to peg their opponent as a Muslim.
MadisonConservative on October 20, 2008 at 3:36 PM
Ask Jeremiah Wright, and quit being dense.
MadisonConservative on October 20, 2008 at 3:37 PM
And even if he was, this is the least of our worries. A secret closet muslim would be checked in his secret closet agenda somewhat by the fact that it was a secret.
But Obama is definitely a socialist (”Spread the wealth” is the public admission of said socialism) in league with other socialists in Congress. They will have no qualms about pushing forward a socialist agenda which will do emense damage to America.
darii on October 20, 2008 at 3:37 PM
With respect, neither you, nor Colin Powell (who I once served under) seem to know a thing about the Muslim religion.
It is a basic tenent of that religion that the Church has jurisdiction over the State. That Sharia law MUST be enforced… and in fact SAYS specificly it is OK to lie to infidels, in the name of spreading the Islamic religion.
So, taking an oath to defend the US Constitution, while having a hand on the Koran, is like making a promise with your fingers crossed.
Oh, and as to Powell, he is a stark raving idiot. Iraq is in the mess it is in today, because HE pulled the plug on Desert Storm. At the time we let the Republican Guard survive, and IT then put down the pro US rebels whom we had promised support.
Romeo13 on October 20, 2008 at 3:37 PM
I’m believing more and more these people, the ones shouting Obama is a muslim, are Democrats trying to cause problems.
Enoxo on October 20, 2008 at 3:37 PM
Yes and no. Muslims number a billion worldwide. While only a fraction of this number is engaged in direct violent confrontation with the west, international polls and news videos of mobs celebrating the 9-11 attack or screaming for the death of Israel are sufficient to convince me that a significant percentage of the Muslim population are sympathetic to what their own Koran actually teaches.
ManlyRash on October 20, 2008 at 3:37 PM
I have to disagree. The violent islamists are only the tip of the iceberg.
But, let me put Churchill’s words out for you (The River War, 1899):
The problem is not with the “extremists (who enjoy some 60%+ support in the muslim world) but with the ideology/culture itself.
progressoverpeace on October 20, 2008 at 3:38 PM
Reading the comments in this thread I wouldnt be surprised if they were Republicans sadly.
Being a Muslim is apparently a bad thing to a certain percentage. Ironically these are likely the people who get offended when people crap all over Christianity.
Dash on October 20, 2008 at 3:38 PM
Obama was certainly exposed to Muslim beliefs and culture when he was a child in Indonesia; but, frankly, I’m a heck of a lot more concerned about the Christian church he attended as an adult. Religion has nothing to do with it.
Y-not on October 20, 2008 at 3:39 PM
Absolutely, hippie_chucker! Nineteen men flew planes into our buildings. They were not white, they were not black, they were not red, they were not purple.
They were muslim and they were YELLOW!
We have a right to question the motives of a man that says that he wants to “spread the wealth around”. Unless you sniff glue for a living or are a democrat, acorn supporting, liberal…..THAT SCREAMS SOCIALIST.
Oh, and BTW, if voting AGAINST the socialist/Ayers loving/Wright following/muddled past Obama means that I am a bigot and a racist…well, then SIGN ME UP!

wise_man on October 20, 2008 at 3:39 PM
No. Islam, in general is a problem. Islam is the formalization of desert arab culture. If you don’t think that culture is a problem, in and of itself, then I don’t know what to say to you.
I have to disagree. The violent islamists are only the tip of the iceberg.
But, let me put Churchill’s words out for you (The River War, 1899):

Christianity doesn’t advocate the genocide of an entire race or conversion of the world by the sword. Dummy.
ManlyRash on October 20, 2008 at 3:40 PM
O isn’t a Muslim, but he’s sympathetic to their plight in a way that IMO makes it hard for him to command troops to kill them, that to me is a real danger-not this Manchurian Candidate stuff.
The socialist angle speaks for itself. When you’re raised by your grandparents, who were big C Commies….that’s how your worldview is shaped. Spreading the wealth is what purse snatchers do every day…

The man will tear this country apart and half of you think we should be kissing his ass ,be polite and roll over when we get raped by a Democrat Washington.

It’s something that could have been edited out. And we’d never see that as it was. Editing by the media, what they show, what they decide what not to show, is a very powerful tool to inform and misinform.
wise_man on October 20, 2008 at 3:43 PM
With regard to my saying “religious bigotry”: Yes, it is exactly bigotry to say, “He’s a Muslim, therefore we can’t vote for him.” That’s like the stupid people saying “Romney’s a Mormon, so we can’t vote for him.” Or the people who won’t vote for a Catholic, or won’t vote for someone because of whatever religion they adhere to. That’s called bigotry.
There are plenty of good reasons not to vote for Obama. Trying to persuade people not to vote for Obama just because “he’s a Muslim” is stupid and bigoted. You won’t convince me otherwise.

Glad to see that Revrum Wright Church of Hatin’ Whitey is Obambi’s best defense against any questions about his other religious faith’s “Kill all the infidels” doctrine in place since about 700 A.D.
No wonder Obambi found working with Billy Ayers was a real blast. What a fine bevy of guttersnipes with which Obambi has co-mingled during his short, sleazy south-Chicago political career.
