With one exception, the lowest moment on election night will be finding out that this galactic tool won by 25 points.

That one exception? The first time I hear someone use the term “Senator-elect Al Franken.” Click the image to watch.

John Murtha / Bill Russell Poll – 12th Congressional District of PA

John Murtha (D) is trying to hold off a challenge from Bill Russell (R) in the 12th Congressional District of PA. This is a seat that was once considered safe for the Democrats but is looking like it may be moving to a toss-up. There has been little polling done in the district since the challenge was not expected to have much of a chance. But Murtha’s continuing to lose popularity in parts of the district and may be in danger of losing a seat he has held for over 30 years. PTT’s polling currently shows this rate at a statistical dead heat with Bill Russell actually having a slight advantage, at 47.4% to Murtha’s 44.3%. There are still a number of undecided voters and the difference is technically within the margin of error. This is very good news for Republicans trying to pick up a long-held Democratic seat.

He was supposed to lose then, as well.

NeoKong on October 20, 2008 at 8:29 PM

This guy is slime. One time I went looking through his campaign contributors and the pork he was slathering himself with and it was appalling. President of XYZ and wife of said president giving obscene amounts and company XYZ getting $$$$ in return in pork. I would throw his a** in jail if I could, it was really that bad.

Cardiganfox on October 20, 2008 at 8:30 PM

Well, before we give up on Murtha, he says he knows how to get our forces from Okinowa to Iraq in one sortie. So obviously he’s a freaking military genius.

hawkdriver on October 20, 2008 at 8:30 PM

I’d never condone beating the crap out of somebody – especially some old nasty skanky fart like Murtha – but with BOR acting the way he has lately, maybe he could dress up like Murtha and we could pretend.

John Murhta belongs in a pair of depends and sent to a “retirement home” where he his family will never visit him………

………… he doesn’t even realize the damage he did and the propaganda gold mine he gave Al Qaeda with his “killed civilians in cold blood” remark. How much longer did the war go on by his, and others, like Harry Reid, “the war is lost” comments just for POLITICAL gain? How many US and Coalition soldiers died because our enemies took Murtha’s words, showed them to a bunch of impoverished, non-educated, islamofacists, and recruited scores to join the battle?

…………. Oh, he is going to “revise” his remarks. Yeah, that puts all the arms, legs, eyes, and heads back on that were blown off.

My disdain for this human piece of fecal matter knows no bounds……

The Death-Threat Debate

http://www.newsweek.com/id/164512/output/print

During a heated moment in his final presidential debate with Sen. John McCain, Sen. Barack Obama noted the anger of some supporters at rallies for McCain’s running mate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin. “All the public reports suggested,” Obama said, that people shouted “things like ‘terrorist’ and ‘kill him’.” Making a death threat against a presidential candidate can be a crime. But even before Obama cited “reports” of the threats at the debate, the U.S. Secret Service had told media outlets, including NEWSWEEK, that it was unable to corroborate accounts of the “kill him” remarks—and according to a law-enforcement official, who asked for anonymity when discussing a political matter, the Obama campaign knew as much. Now some officials are disgruntled that Obama gave added credence to the threat by mentioning it in front of 60 million viewers. At this point in the campaign, said one, candidates will “say anything to make a particular point.”

As my father used to exclaim “GOD ALMIGHTY!” I say why can’t these polititians just leave people the hell alone damn it! Yeah so I have family in Gibsonia PA. just outside of Pittsburgh. BY the way if you ever visit this beautiful little city be sure to ride the incline to the overlook at three rivers stadium. My now deceased brother his wife and four kids.
I traveled there numerous times and even spent the summer there once. So what because there is a concentration of white people living their life as they choose something is wrong with that. Ha Ha there is strength and unity and family and religion there! Ha Murtha these are just working CLASS people who send their kids to school and expect them to learn somthing. Who have community day in the summer and wood working shops on their property and the like. These Leftists bastards want to desolve this Americana from the face of the earth. These people have tradition and their own culture. MURTHA YOU ARE NOT ONLY A RACIST BUT AN OPPORTUNISTIC LOUD MOUTH BLOWHARD GRAFT TAKING SCUMBAG!

madmonkphotog on October 20, 2008 at 9:12 PM

Murtha said that just five to 10 years ago the entire area was “redneck.”

Well, I am really glad he cleared that up.

What a moronic thing to say to back away from the original statement! I agree it’s time for this one to retire.

Cicero43 on October 20, 2008 at 9:19 PM

Murth presents an object lesson for all of us. We’ve all seen the polls where people have such a negative view of “congress” but like their own people. Well, we all need to have the courage to throw scum like this out of office, regardless of party. These tools ARE the problem.

Because the same poll numbers that say Congress is filled with a bunch of corrupt SOBs who need to be kicked out of office go on to say “except for my guy who has been a pretty good egg.” It’s the power of incumbency.

I lived close to his District in Western PA when I was alot younger and still have some family around there. I think why he keeps getting re-elected is because of the Union vote, and many of his constituents have the “just pull the lever for the guy who’s been doing it forever” attitude. Plus he gets alot of Pork thrown to his district. Now remember, he is close to W.VA. Home to Robert Byrd who been a Sen since Washington crossed the Delaware..(W.Va has the nicest Interstate highway system in the US, thanks to Sen Byrd) Same mentality in Johnstown PA. Just keep voting him in.
But it wouldn’t suprise me to see him lose this one. Just on his views of the troops in Iraq.
BTW, Fireblogger. Nice blogsite. (31 yrs on the job) I’ll stop by and leave you a message one of these days.

Losing the election, Congressman?

After you freely and willingly insult your own constituents, you then dare to call them “rednecks”, and then pretend that nothing happened. First, the Marines; now, the people you’re supposed to represent…

I’m sure many of them won’t take your put-downs lightly.

Heck.

Obama’s a redneck.

Without the neck.

profitsbeard on October 21, 2008 at 1:09 AM

Murtha has now called his constiuent(s):

1) A murderer (Marine LCPL Justin Sharratt) who killed “in cold blood.” As he has yet to say otherwise or apologize, I guess Murtha thinks he still is (despite Sharratt being cleared of all charges).

2) Racists. Oh, that’s right. Murtha apologized leading off with, “While we cannot deny that race is a factor in this election…”

3) Rednecks. Only they are not all rednecks now, just the old ones.

The more I hear out of Murtha’s pie hole, the more I wonder if he is describing himself, letting a guilty conscience spill out. Think about it. Is Murtha just an old redneck racist who, back when he was a Marine, killed somebody in Vietnam in cold blood?

Sergeant Tim on October 21, 2008 at 2:27 AM

Murtha is a prime example of why those in government for decades remove all doubt that they don’t have the ability to serve those who elect them. If the people of Pennsylvania re-elect this old fool then they will prove they are the racist rednecks he says they are. The people of Pennsylvania will prove whether they are human trash or not.

Sorry. We Pennsylvanians are afraid of change. No. No. No. It has only to do with the color of money. We’re afraid that someone else wouldn’t give a good gull dern for the people he or she represented and therefore not fight for them in Congress.

In other words, like the rest of our great nation, we have come far in our views of race relations yet still too many people are dumber than dirt when it comes to understanding how our Republic works.

pilamaye on October 21, 2008 at 9:47 AM

I said it before that Murtha is a piece of sh&t that doesn’t deserve to be on this planet but he is right when he talks about Pennsylvanians. I grew up in that State and split my time evenly between Philadelphia and various locales in the Republican-T. All areas of PA are racist. Philadelphia is the most hateful, racist city in the country. The racism of the black majority in that city is only matched by the racism of the whites outside of Philly. PA will be closer than people think between Obama and McCain but Murtha will win handily. He has the machine, the money and years of experience in buying votes.

I call Murtha a lackey and an opportunist who has no business being a seventeen-term Representative from PA. PA doesn’t need it and, certainly, the remainder of the U.S. doesn’t need it.

In fact, NONE of these a-holes (Dems, Repubs, whatever) deserve a pension even after they’re done with elected office.
