Will they keep it light, or will Lorne and co. gratify the wettest wet dreams of HuffPo and dKos by sandbagging her with some sort of “Don’t vote for this woman!” ambush? Either way, the long-awaited confrontation between the ‘Cuda and the woman who claims she’ll have to leave Earth if Palin wins makes it worth watching. Weigh in below. While we wait, food for thought from Fred Barnes:
In the weeks after the convention, she was limited to two major TV interviews. When she did poorly in one–the Katie Couric interview–Democrats and hostile columnists unloaded, calling her unqualified to be vice president. There was little contrary evidence in the press by which to judge her or defend her.
I asked Palin whether she’d do things differently if she could repeat those weeks. She answered by silently mouthing “yes.” When two aides–we were on a McCain-Palin bus with staff and security–said “yes” aloud, she chimed in, “Yes, yes, yes, yes.”…
Now, despite her political talent, Palin’s future is unclear.

She’s got the rhythm!

WOOOOOO!
That DirectTV ad is saddeningly creepy, considering that little girl has been dead for 20 years. But I guess Craig T. Nelson isn’t getting enough Incredibles money.
Jim Treacher on October 19, 2008 at 12:30 AM
When I say OBAMA you say AYERS!
OBAMA!
AYERS
lol glad I didn’t change the channel ;)

“When I say ‘Obama’, you say ‘Ayers’!” Wow. She was such a good sport through that whole thing. Definitely worth waiting through crappy sketches for.

Actually Chevy Chase did it first but I’m old and know that.
I was going to watch this later but walked through where someone was watching. That was funny.

I’ll say this though – I LOVE the way Gov Palin dances… she has moves! :-)

Hey, could those of you who think is great kindly stop insulting the people who aren’t amused or have reservations? It’s really irritating. Everybody’s entitled to their opinion.

DAMMIT!! I turned over to Gutfeld and missed it. Somebody recap?
Purple Fury on October 19, 2008 at 12:28 AM
Palin was introduced and played it that she didnt want to do the skit they agreed to. So Amy Poehler did her bit which was a rap/hip hop song. I think those skits were vaguely amusing 20 years ago, now not so much.
Dash on October 19, 2008 at 12:31 AM
I watched the whole hour. Nothing was funny. It was so bad I thought a Billy Mays commerical might make it more interesting.

That said, I enjoyed her Weekend Update appearance much more than the opening. She clearly endeared herself to the audience.

We absolutely need to turn this into the new “Wassup!!”
ClintACK on October 19, 2008 at 12:31 AM
Crowd cheered for her, though. This being NYC, I figured they’d whack her with a campaign sign…
SCI-FI on October 19, 2008 at 12:32 AM
Palin can really groove. She was great in that regard.
Too bad it was to lyrics that were making fun of her.
She didn’t get to make many jokes herself.
Palin didn’t have to do this. It was a mistake.
gumble on October 19, 2008 at 12:32 AM
LOVED that one !!
Man, she’s gorgeous..nothing like the REALthing !
pambi on October 19, 2008 at 12:32 AM
I’d rather she didn’t demean herself, but, sadly, not everyone thinks doing SNL is demeaning. She comes across as a likeable good sport. If it stays where it is, net win. If all the SNL idiots stab her in the back in MSM comments next week, loss.
boko fittleworth on October 19, 2008 at 12:32 AM

Don’t be so danged critical.
She was just on there to show the viewers she is not the Devil Incarnate as portrayed by the press.
She did that. She came across very relaxed and showed she has a sense of humor.
Elizabetty on October 19, 2008 at 12:32 AM
Yeah, I kinda had an LL Cool J “Mama Said Knock You Out” feel. She was a good enough to laugh at herself.

There is a bit of “Sarah Palin replaces Tina Fey” tonight, which is good.

Jim Treacher on October 19, 2008 at 12:33 AM
That was great. I liked how Todd kept on “gangsta” pointing to AK on the map. Sarah really couldn’t do much more tonight. She just got to NYC this afternoon. One real skit is enough. SNL got great ratings and Sarah did just fine. Now it’s time for her to get back to work tomorrow….
IR-MN on October 19, 2008 at 12:33 AM
As I told you…she did fine.
ManlyRash on October 19, 2008 at 12:33 AM
Gov Palin was on again?…I turned it right when that woman beater & drunk started speaking trash about President Bush!…the first “skit” with Gov Palin was priceless!!…Alec Baldwin with Gov Palin,..”My favorite Baldwin Brother is Stephen”..lol..”I wont be taking questions!”…screw’em,..MSM not worth the toilet paper Alec Baldwin wipes his butt with!..: o )
christene on October 19, 2008 at 12:33 AM
Oh come on. She did great. Let’s see Biden or Obama play along with equal class if they were in the same situation. The worst that can be said is that she is a good sport but seriously, she’s way better at delivering her lines and she was genuinely funny.
Beats the hell out of “fart face”.
Guardian on October 19, 2008 at 12:33 AM
Okay, thanks.
Jim Treacher on October 19, 2008 at 12:33 AM
I don’t think it was ridicule. It was funny – and Sarah looked gorgeous and like she was loving it. She showed she has a sense of humor – and it was FUNNY.

can i make a point here? we’re all politically astute here. but study after study shows that 86% of the electore have no f***ing clue what’s going on … they’re uninformed. a bunch of those 86ers will like this stupidity. people will vote for obama just because they think he’s cool.
palin did well – and additionally had the guts to walk on the set which hasn’t been kind to her. This helps.
darkegop on October 19, 2008 at 12:34 AM
Sarah rocked it pretty good but the rap lyrics were lame and the skit was framed in a way to ridicule Sarah and conservatives.
The rap song should have been about how liberals will react when His Nothingness loses on November 5th.
Now that would be comedy gold.
DeweyWins on October 19, 2008 at 12:35 AM
She opened the show, too.

mccain was awesome at the roast dinner the other night. and palin was great tonight. too bad they haven’t been loose like this through the entire campaign.
darkegop on October 19, 2008 at 12:37 AM
I bet Tina Fey won’t want to portray Sarah anymore. Future comparisons of them won’t be in Tina’s favor. Sarah is so much prettier. I thought the rap skit was hilarious. And Sarah looked relaxed and like she was having fun.
Sue on October 19, 2008 at 12:38 AM
I predict a 5 point jump in her favorables and a 1 point jump for McCain as a direct result of this appearance. With ONE condition; the media coverage has to contain minimal spin. Just having SOME favorable Palin coverage out there should help things.
malan89 on October 19, 2008 at 12:38 AM
I have news for some of you young’ns, those rap lyrics might as well be in Farsi for old farts like me. She went to the mockers and said mock-away. Class. All class.

The nutroots aren’t exactly known for their toleration of different viewpoints. They were even calling Hillary more evil than Bush until she pretended to support the Obamessiah.
Speedwagon82 on October 19, 2008 at 12:39 AM
you’re right sarah – i think the mindless uninformed masses will like this
darkegop on October 19, 2008 at 12:39 AM
If SNL really wanted to be funny they’d be tearing Barry and Biden new ones every week.
For example, a spoof on how the media doesn’t care WHAT comes up about Barry; they won’t investigate.
Barry a serial killer? Who cares! Kum-bye-yah!
ex-Democrat on October 19, 2008 at 12:39 AM
The clips should show up here shortly, according to the ad.
flip on October 19, 2008 at 12:39 AM
Do you think Obama would allow himself to be mocked like that? He didn’t really have a choice at the Alfred E. Smith thing, but do you think he’d let SNL do it?
Relax, kids. This is a net win.
Jim Treacher on October 19, 2008 at 12:40 AM
Keep it positive at elast teh SNL crowd didnt go the cheap route and do something silly like run a creationist skit with 1,000 year old dinosaurs. (Sacing tht for Matt Damon ?)
William Amos on October 19, 2008 at 12:40 AM
The two regular clowns from SNL couldn’t take their eyes off the cue cards/tele prompter… Josh Brolin was awesome.

Ugly on October 19, 2008 at 12:40 AM
Trust me.
Sarah Palin just got a huge boost in her favorables.
This was really, really good for her.
I confidently predict that the crowds at her appearances are going to spontaneously begin shouting “Ayers” back every time she says “Obama.”
It’s going to become a thing — and more than any smoking gun (yes, even the “shared an office for three years” and “he babysat their kids, fer Pete’s sake” the stupid, stupid, “I say Obama, You say Ayers” line is going to stick the association).
ClintACK on October 19, 2008 at 12:40 AM
Oh, I take my last comment back, because I lol’d at the Wahlberg clip.
Spirit of 1776 on October 19, 2008 at 12:40 AM
The bottom line is she will have a net increase in votes from being on SNL.
That was probably the only reason she did it. She knows the more she shows up in different venues the more votes she will get.
Elizabetty on October 19, 2008 at 12:41 AM
You’re awesome, Lim. Old Fart? Not a chance!!!!!!
pullingmyhairout on October 19, 2008 at 12:41 AM
Gov Palin looks fantastic so far: poised, strong, confident…not AT ALL the empty bubblehead Fey portrayed her as…I was against this, but dangit if Sarah didn’t do ANOTHER thing right…she is FANTASTIC.
JustTruth101 on October 19, 2008 at 12:41 AM
To add to some positive vibes:
I was at the Woodbridge, VA McCain rally today and he was on fire!
He’s been GREAT ever since he kicked that marxist’s arse at the debates.
The crowd was GREAT…..2 hours to get in….thousands and thousands of people.
The CNN Express bus was there and it was all I could do not to go up to it and flip it off.
At one point the crowed was chanting, “liberal media” after McCain said something about the media.
We are energized!!!
Let’s roll!

ManlyRash on October 19, 2008 at 12:42 AM
That would be awesome. If you guys listened closely there was even a Rev. Wright line! (Paraphrase): “Forget Rev. Wright, I’m the preacher tonight”… heeheehee…
Pasalubong on October 19, 2008 at 12:42 AM
Treacher. You’re exactly right. I don’t know why people are being such lame asses here.
Plus, the people who are going to decide this election are the mindless boobs who haven’t so far decided between two completely different candidates.
THOSE people will think “Palin’s cool” because of this appearance.
Question: do you think SNL figured she’d embarass herself trying to dance? Becuase she didn’t – she looked great.

Now it’s a “Fart face” skit? It’s totally lame. Were they trying for “The Terrance and Phillip Show” from SouthPark? ‘Cuz even that is waaaay funnier.
.
Some relatives in Ireland sent me this email about the ELECTION:
.
“…Here in Ireland, can’t figure out why you people are even bothering to hold an election in the States.
.
On one side:
you have a pants wearing female lawyer, married to another lawyer who can’t seem to keep his pants on, who just lost a long and heated primary against a lawyer, who goes to the wrong church, who is married to yet another lawyer, who doesn’t even like the country her husband wants to run!
.
Now…On the other side:
you have a nice old war hero whose name starts with the appropriate ‘Mc’ terminology, married to a good looking younger woman who owns a beer distributorship!!
.
Glory be to God! What ARE ya lads & lassies thinkin’ o’er there in the colonies?
