The Northern Alliance Radio Network will be on the air today, with our six-hour-long broadcast schedule starting at 11 am CT. The first two hours features Power Line’s John Hinderaker and Chad and Brian from Fraters Libertas. Mitch and I hit the airwaves for the second shift from 1-3 pm CT, and King Banaian and Michael Broadkorb have The Final Word from 3-5. If you’re in the Twin Cities, you can hear us on AM 1280 The Patriot, or on the station’s Internet stream if you’re outside of the broadcast area.

Today, Mitch and I will undoubtedly spend plenty of time on the debate, but mostly we’ll talk about the phenomenon of Joe the Plumber. We’d love to talk to other plumbers, too. Own your own business? Talk to us! We’ll also talk about the media reaction to Joe, and wonder where all of these Lois Lanes have been while Barack Obama’s background went unreported.

Be sure to call 651-289-4488 to join the conversation! We’ll broadcast live video and streaming audio of the show:

Plus, be sure to join a live Ustream chat during the show. Be sure to register at Ustream to participate in our raucous live-chat sessions. (And if the log-in prompt doesn’t come up in the chat box below, use this link instead.)

OT: Obama NH Event Scraps National Anthem

No Obama rally is complete without a few celebrity sightings.

Actor Justin Long, co-star of “Live Free or Die Hard” and the popular “I’m a Mac/I’m a PC” commercials was spotted by the middle schoolers and posed for photos. Actor John de Lance, better known as “Q” from “Star Trek: The Next Generation,” was also present.

Not present, or at least not singing the National Anthem at the rally was Londonderry senior Zach Bencal.

Bencal, who sings the anthem for a number of school events and is actively involved in local community theatre, had been contacted by the Obama campaign to sing the anthem. He agreed to do so, then was told later in the evening the anthem had been scratched from the program. Bencal said he was told by the campaign the decision was a simple programming change to make room for another speaker.

“I guess it just wasn’t meant to be,” Bencal said.

Sandra Abrevaya, communications director for the Obama campaign’s Manchester office, confirmed the choice had simply been a last-minute scratch from the rally’s program, which included the Pledge of Allegiance.

We regret the miscommunication with Zach about today’s event but we are pleased that several other New Hampshire residents were able to speak at today’s event, where thousands of voters in both parties gathered to hear Sen. Obama discuss his plan to bring the change we need to Washington.”

First: Scratching the National Anthem for a speaker? When did the National Anthem get changed into an opera? They couldn’t spare the minute and a half?

Second: I can’t believe the Q Continuum is in the tank. Oy.

Third: So did they scratch both the Pledge and the National Anthem? I guess that’s what we get for a “citizen of the world.”

Andrew Sullivan explains why Barack Obama is so conservative:

“Obama’s skin color has obscured a pretty basic fact about him: he seems to have had a very conservative private life as a public figure. His marriage and family life have been much more traditional than John McCain’s – someone who admits to promiscuity and adultery and divorce. Unlike McCain he’s a long-time regular church-goer.
Sullivan twists himself in knots

And what church would that be Andrew? Obama’s Church for Twenty Years

But if you raise issues about Obama’s church, you are racist.

You cannot make this stuff up.

Barack Hoover Obama is creating a consistent reference point or justification somewhere from the past for his tax increases that he calls tax cuts. Obama tells Joe The Plumber “remember how it was for you 15 years ago” IGNORING the very means that advanced Joe’s life economically: YEARS OF TRAINING AND DEDICATED HARD WORK.*

As McCain distinctly pointed out in debate, Barack Hoover Obama should have run against George W. Bush 4 (or even 8) years ago since Obama’s current campaign rhetoric is stuck on the non-candidate Bush. But because those days are long gone, it is stupid to keep referencing that past moment as the present. It only shows how out of touch Obama is with the current campaign with the contemporary opponent McCain.

*BTW, it was the person to whom Joe was apprenticed, not Joe’s, whose sole responsibility it was to submit the paperwork to complete Joe’s apprenticeship. Joe has no right to submit his own paperwork that credits his work and skills accomplished by the certified professional to whom Joe was apprenticed.

Ed, your show’s sponsor, Thompson Construction, could instruct us of that business’ preference between the written tax programs, Obama’s vs. McCain’s.

Dirty negative politicking example is the hacking of Palin’s personal email account and Obama’s refusal to repudiate the guilty perp, the son of the Democrat legislator, imo, MUCH WORSE THAN THE WATERGATE BURGLARY AND COVERUP.
