WSJ: Fear the coming liberal revolution

What will a Barack Obama presidency mean? It will almost certainly give Democrats an undivided government, their first since 1993. In that period, Democrats tried nationalizing the health-care industry — and that was under the direction of a DLC-sponsored moderate President. Under Barack Obama, the Wall Street Journal predicts a return to 1965 … or 1933:
If the current polls hold, Barack Obama will win the White House on November 4 and Democrats will consolidate their Congressional majorities, probably with a filibuster-proof Senate or very close to it. Without the ability to filibuster, the Senate would become like the House, able to pass whatever the majority wants.
Though we doubt most Americans realize it, this would be one of the most profound political and ideological shifts in U.S. history. Liberals would dominate the entire government in a way they haven’t since 1965, or 1933. In other words, the election would mark the restoration of the activist government that fell out of public favor in the 1970s. If the U.S. really is entering a period of unchecked left-wing ascendancy, Americans at least ought to understand what they will be getting, especially with the media cheering it all on.
Some will say that the Democrats deserve a shot at undivided government again, since the Republicans had four years of control over both chambers of Congress and the White House in the Bush years. (Democrats controlled the Senate from 2001-2, thanks to Jumping Jim Jeffords.) Many Republicans, myself included, would gladly agree that the GOP didn’t use its opportunity to change the governing philosophy in Washington, but merely adopted its worst power-hoarding practices. That lost opportunity doesn’t mean the Democrats would make the same mistake.
Read the entire WSJ editorial. They note that in 1933 and 1965, liberal Democrats fundamentally abused the nature of government and its relationship to the economy in ways we still have not corrected. What changes can we expect in an Obama administration?
- Nationalized health care
- Union supremacy and a boost of cash to the Democratic Party
- Massive tax increases and redistributionism
- Curtailed free-speech protections
It’s not a pretty picture.

Add to that one of the first priorities in the new Congress will be the passing of the ‘card check law’ that will rapidly increase union membership resulting in more money available to unions through dues and more backing for dems.

Question: when is the entitlement issue going to “crash sown”? The first Baby Boomers have just begun to retire this year.
Wait a sec: the year in which the first wave reaches 65 is in… 2012.
Can a Democrat supermajority handle the entitlements crash? It can’t, and they know it. They know that their children, who have now become accomplices to their scheme by supporting Obama, and their grandchildren, are going to pay for this. Those in Generation X have been very aware of this, for a long time. And they will probably pay the heaviest price of a Baby Boom Generation that never quite “grew up.”
It’s going to get very interesting when the generational war commences, beginning 2012. A McCain defeat this November could well become the Republican’s “blessing in disguise.”

If it starts in 2012 then it will not be Obama who has to deal with it but whoever gets elected in 2012, no? Also, people that close to retirement are more likely to vote for entitlements. I would think the 2012 and 2016 vote will be dominated by the senior population, the same ones who have been blocking any attempt to fix social security and vote predominantly for democrats.

“It’s not a pretty picture”, you wrote. And you and I, as small time blogger, will get hit early in The One’s reign. Our country has gone through what may happen before with President Adams and the Alien and Sedition Act and President Wilson and his misused Sedition Act., but the times are much different and technology offers more avenues to control our citizenry.
I suggest that if elected Mr. Obama will rule as an authoritarian socialist with the Patriot Act firmly under his control; I fear that Mr. Obama, if elected, will take advantage of the fear in America and go Chavez like to the determent of our republic; all the while having the media and elites applaud the need for such actions and encouraging compliance. Sort of like most of those who have seized unlimited power in the past have had their civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well funded as the military available as Mr. Obama showed he wanted when he ad-libbed that statement during a June, 2008 speech.
I don’t believe Americans would have the stomach for opposing such a perversion of our country; that would require sacrifice. They would be willing to relinquish freedom for security. It would not be the first him in the world’s history.

Quite possibly. All bubbles have to burst sometime…but the timing on this one is pretty funny for it to be a coincidence.
I doubt we’ll ever know for sure this side of eternity. Any person or persons with enough economic and political muscle to pull the plug at will were surely smart enough to hide their tracks and hide them good.
Personally I suspect a big connection to Obama; someone who either personally wants him elected for their own gain or wants the big 0 in so the US will be too impotent to interfere in something else they’ve got cooking.

I don’t think people understand the story. It takes quite a bit of digging to get the context because the API site organizes their articles by most-viewed rather than by chronology, and posts sometimes have the same format as actual API articles.
When I was following the Kenya riots API was one of the few sources of eyewitness accounts. There were articles and comments from both sides of the conflict. As of a little over a week ago, the articles were mostly pro-Obama.
Then last Tuesday Jerome Corsi was detained by what had to be Odinga people (because Kibaki folks knew of his planned press conference and had OK’ed it)That was a widely-aired news story and I think API wondered what was up.
On Oct 14th API posted an article from israel e news, askikng whether the Berg suit would really matter. Within half an hour another post by texasdarlin gave even more documentation showing the reasons why Obama’s eligibility for being president is suspect.
At the same time, Frank Gaffney of the WAshington Times published information about Berg’s suit. He said he had never even heard of it before then.
Somebody in Nairobi contacted Michelle asking her to intervene because API was giving legitimacy to Corsi’s claims about Obama. Who in Nairobi would have instant access and influence with Michelle besides Raila Odinga?
Odinga would have reason to want Corsi’s story quiet because Corsi was about to come out with documents showing that “stolen election” charges and violence were part of Odinga’s election plan and that Obama provided about a million dollars to Odinga’s campaign. Corsi was also making rumblings about possible Odinga strategy if Obama would win the presidency.
Mchelle must have called the afternoon of the 14th or morning of 15th. The first questions API had for Michelle were about Corsi’s arrest. What role had Odinga and Barack played in it? Michelle’s first concern was that Black reporters in Kenya cover for America’s potential first Black president. Circle the wagons. Michelle knows that if the Berg suit gets traction in the MSM through the WAshington Times, the attetion would necessarily go to Kenya for birth records. She was accusing API of aiding racists if they encouraged objective research and documentation for Obama.
She did that by focusing on the adoption issue. Should a patriotic Black man be ineligible for the presidency just because his stepdad adopted him? It’s all just a racist ploy to keep a Black from becoming president. And the Blacks who are against Obama are doing it out of envy (hint-hint, Back reporter – this is you). There was apparently a conversation about how Obama could straddle the fence between his Muslim supporter in Kenya and an American public that distrusts Muslims and Obama’s deceptions regarding his Muslim connections.
On the 15th API reported Michelle’s phone call. They got over 10,000 responses immediately and realized that what Michelle had said could cost Barack the presidency. In the meantime the Obama campaign called API liars and API’s credibility was on the line.
They also were informed that Obama has run an intimidation campaign full of lawsuits against those who expose information he doesn’t want known. And they probably thought that the information they have could start riots in America similar to those in Kenya. They consulted their lawyers and say they are in the process of clearing the tapes for release in such a way that they can’t be sued.
I don’t know if their weekend respects Muslim (Friday) holy day, Jewish (Saturday), or Christian(Sunday). I’ve been pulling my hair out waiting for the tape, but I suspect it will be Monday at the earliest, which might be best considering the news cycles. We’ll see.
But the story on its face seems credible to me IF Odinga was the person who didn’t want Corsi’s or Berg’s stories to get out and called Michelle – and if Michelle knew that Berg’s story had already broken into the MSM through The Washington Times so she wanted to silence those with potential access to the witnesses in question (i.e. Obama’s grandma, who could potentially ask to see Obama’s Kenya birth certificate if there is one.
I’ve been thinking of Berg’s suit as Frodo – never more than a fool’s hope, but the one which could possibly kill Obama’s candidacy if it could connect with the Crack of Doom – a judge or court who would require Obama to prove his eligibility.
Yesterday, when the SCOTUS ruled that the only party with standing to require Ohio’s Secretary of State to do her job, my hope died. The courts are not prepared to protect the process. We the people are not qualified to require our officials to follow the Constitution. If we elect a crook in a crucial position, none of us can do a darned thing to protect the Constituton. America is screwed.
I still want the tape released because it shows Michelle for the scum she is. But the courts will never allow one of us Joe the Plumbers to question Obama on which hospital he was born in (something the COLB never said)or whether a person loses their “natural born citizen” status if they lose their American citizenship later in life.
I think the coup to replace America with an oppressive regime has already happened. We the people are powerless in every sense of the word EXCEPT (so far) the ability to talk to our neighbors about what we know. This is the last chance we may have to ever do that, because if we don’t use that power now, Obama and his communist Chicago mob will take it from us. Frodo can’t save us. Only the Joe the Plumbers of the world, like you and me, can do it.

McCain & Richardson did not need this resolution… nobody needed this Resolution unless somebody in the race was born outside the USA and was “Covering his/her Ass” and the only individual in the race that that could apply to was Senator Obama! This in turn would show that the Senator is a liar who has been peddling untruths about his birth for at least 16 years!

Examples are Russia, Yugoslavia, Ukraine, and Georgia. Russia’s opposition now began with their distrust of America as a result of Soros screwing them badly through corruption. Could Obama have been born in Kenya?
We know that the birth announcement in the Hawaii paper was just that, an announcement.
Could there be documentation proving that Obama was born in Kenya? Would the hospital have those records?
Notice that Obama STILL will not produce the evidence to prove beyond any doubt that he was born in Hawaii. All we got was the forged paperwork based on his sister.
What happens if he gets elected and during his first term evidence pops up that he was NOT born in the USA but in Kenya?
Think about that. It COULD happen.
If I had to bet, I’d say he WAS born in Kenya, and his mother took him to Hawaii, and then there was the announcement but NO birth certificate.
Would Obama resign if it was proven he was born in Kenya?
Or, would he use the military to prop up his regime?
Interesting isn’t it?

1. Regardless of where he was born, Obama was adopted by Lolo Soetoro, an Indonesian national and placed into Indonesian schools that only accepted Indonesian citizens. Records from the school show: Citizenship: Indonesian, Religion: Muslim

2. Obama says he traveled to Pakistan in 1981. US citizens were prohibited from traveling to Pakistan at that time therefore he couldn’t have used a US passport. Probably used his Indonesian passport.

The Certificate of Live Birth (COLB)/short form he put on his website and a curiously different version of the same document that can be found on dKos IS NOT ACCEPTABLE FORM OF PROOF OF BIRTH SUCH THAT YOU & I NEED TO APPLY FOR A REPLACEMENT SOCIAL SECURITY CARD- because it is not a “VAULT” or long form which is the ONLY BIRTH CERTIFICATE MY STATE’S DMV ACCEPTS AS PROOF OF ID FOR A DRIVER’S LICENSE

Crystal balls aside, when you are in rough waters and someone throws you a lifeline, you don’t say, “Nah, it doesn’t matter because in 10 minutes the Coast Guard will be patrolling the area.”

WHY does Obama keep dodging the issue? I would just dig up my US birth certificate and post it.
What am I missing here? Why is he still not proving he is a citizen to put all this to rest?
If I was him, I long ago would have got the legitimate paperwork and proved it, end of story.
My guess is that he really was born in Kenya and this is why Corsi has had some difficulties out in Kenya.

Agreed. We’ve got 17 days before the election. We get McCain across the finish line in first, then the whole question becomes moot and we’ve bought ourselves four more years. If worse comes to worse, then it will be time to consider options. But ’til then, let’s concentrate our efforts on the election–better to avoid the Plague than to have to try to cure it.

Because we, the people, assume that those running for such a high office have at least some integrity. That and as Manly says above “the Fourth Estaste” in the past has done the vetting for us. This election cycle, the MSM has acted as BHO’s PR firm, spinning stories questioning BHO off into oblivion. We have all seen what happens when one “assumes”…
For far too long the Republicans in Congress, and a few dems, have remained silent as the dems poured tax payer money into ACORN and other similar groups; slept with high ranking Fannie Mae employees; accepted bribes; infected society with their socialist agenda; and created a situation through legislation where 1 trillion dollars in American wealth vanished in one day. Yes, there were those who raised objections but they were soon quiet again.
I would think that after the Florida fiasco of 2000 that President Bush would step up and order the DOJ to vigorously investigate any and all fraud effecting this election. I guess he hasn’t been taking his Geritol. When will someone in the Federal gov’t. stand up and say NO!!???
As for my earlier, and I do mean early — it was 4 am here — misstatements, yes it was Slim and not Eddie and the correct title is “Mars Attacks”….

As I understand it, Berg originally filed a suit against Obama only and was told it was none of his business (he had no standing to file suit). So he filed it against Obama AND the DNC because he gave money to the DNC to help them come up with an eligible candidate and they failed to do the job. Now the issue, as always, comes down to whether it’s any of his business to care whether Obama is eligible.
How can a government of the people, by the people, and for the people say it’s not a citizen’s business if that government is corrupt? People lament the fact that nobody cares. I hold the exact opposite. There are millions just like me who care deeply – but we are told by our courts that “it’s none of our business” – we have no legal standing to demand that our government follow its own law.
The Cloward-Piven Plan is a way to convince people that they can’t trust their government. The fastest way to achieve that is by making the government untrustworthy. Congratulations to them. They’ve succeeded. The question now is how we DEMAND our nation’s integrity to be OUR business.
The American Revolution was a response to (among other things) taxation without representation. Angry Joe the Plumbers threw tea into Boston Harbor in protest. Do we need to write to our judges and let them know that when they tell us our government is no longer our business it calls for revolution? That if they won’t protect our Constitution, then we will at the shooting end of a gun?
Freedom is never more than a generation away from extinction, according to Ronald Reagan. Is our “generation” totally represented by lawyers who consider the sanctity of this nation to be nobody’s business but their own?

Per the Berg lawsuit…IF BHO and the DNC wanted to shut down a lot of speculation of him, they could have simply produced the documents in question. The case would’ve been dismissed and all other “hanging by a string” questions would have just gone away. Instead, BHO and the DNC are spending money to fight and delay the lawsuit. WHY? Anybody?
Now, their actions have spawned another lawsuit in the state of Washington. A lawsuit to force the Washington Secty of State to verify BHO’s eligibility. Maybe this is the tact to take, sue individual state officials…

I’m a staunch conservative of the three-legged-stool variety, and I’m offended by the misuse of the term “liberal”.
It is a Coming Marxist Revolution, and with it, come all its tyrannical, repressive underpinnings. We may find ourselves in a bit of a pickle in the future when liberalization during this type of regime would mean “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.”
If we seek a revitalization of the American way, we should be wary of abusing the liberal tag. We may want it for ourselves in the not-so-distant-future.

NOKS is a concerned citizen, like many of most of us here on HA. Like those that flooded the Univ. of Nebraska system with emails, letters and phone calls when it became known that the unrepentant terrorist/college professor known as Bill Ayers was scheduled to speak at one of their campuses.

Obama’s TV ads keep claiming the Tax Policy Center finds in favor of Obama vs. McCain plans, though that Center’s abstract finds that McCain will reduce taxes 4.2 trillion to Obama’s 2.9 trillion cut. Obama claims he’s going to help more people than McCain. Doesn’t stand to reason from either the tax cut figures or from their personal lives. Obama won’t even send his own brother a dollar a month, nor any of his Kenyan family any money or buy them any homes. But McCain adopted a child in need of survival, and houses his extended family without sending anyone to ask the government for a subsidy or welfare benefit.

I am well past fearing the liberal revolution including a filibuster proof senate. I fear a congress which can pass constitution amendments at will about 2010 or 12. Then we will have Obama brand supreme court packing backed up by the constitution. Maybe, we will get professor Ayers and reverend Wright as the tenth and eleventh justices.
I fear two generations of people who are currently illegal aliens who will vote Democrat till long after I am dead. I think the country will be lucky if the Democrats do not control the White House for the next sixteen years. Two years ago when the Democrats took control of congress and Ed was posting about what we would need to do to win this time, I commented that we would be lucky to get congress back in eight years.
I fear for my grandchildren who will be paying taxes when the government consumes 50% of GDP.

As per what Obama did actually vote FOR, whether or not it passed, Obama DID vote to allow the Bush tax cuts to expire (including the death tax to return into effect), and at that point raise taxes on people earning between $40K (single) to below $45K (married joint). Right, it was a resolution, and it did not pass. But for ALL OF THE PRESENT VOTES THAT OBAMA CAST, hiding his true nature, Obama actually DID VOTE TO RAISE TAXES ON THOSE EARNING ABOUT $40K/annually.
Anyone whose parents or selves are approaching that age, what your parents want to be able to leave you after they die as YOUR INHERITANCE should not be swiped by the government who already raked in taxes upon taxes on that same inheritance already.
It doesn’t matter if your parents have $20K or $200K or $2million to leave you in their Will. It isn’t the government who should inherit your inheritance via death tax.
Yes, there are legal ways to avoid some of that difficulty via trusts. But the government is not excused for overextending their “right” at the cost of the citizens “rights” of inheritance.

So, the Senator WAS a Dual National. That is now an admitted fact, admitted by his own Campaign and by Annenberg. The Senator is a Constitutional Lawyer which means that he knows, and has always known, that he is probably Ineligible to Hold the Office of POTUS, or that, at the very least, there is a strong Legal Argument that that is the case. In turn, that means that as he lied about his Kenyan and British Citizenships he is probably lying about his Indonesian Citizenship.

I do not suppose that it was ever his intention to give up his US Citizenship and it does not matter to me one bit. It doesn’t matter to Indonesia either. If Lolo Soetoro adopted him he ceased to be a US Citizen in the mid 1960s, BY INDONESIAN LAW. He also ceased to be a Kenyan Citizen, BY INDONESIAN LAW. By Kenyan and US Law he retained his Original Citizenships, until his 21st Birthday. By Indonesian Law he could have given up Indonesian Citizenship at age 18, but did he? If he didn’t he was, albeit accidentally, displaying a Legal Intention to void his US Citizenship, since he knew he could not Legally hold both Citizenships.

If a Naturalized Citizen cannot hold the Office of POTUS because they previously held another Citizenship it is egregious, so far as I am concerned, that a Dual Citizen/Former Dual Citizen should claim to have a Legal Right to do so.
