WSJ: Fear the coming liberal revolution

What will a Barack Obama presidency mean? It will almost certainly give Democrats an undivided government, their first since 1993. In that period, Democrats tried nationalizing the health-care industry — and that was under the direction of a DLC-sponsored moderate President. Under Barack Obama, the Wall Street Journal predicts a return to 1965 … or 1933:
If the current polls hold, Barack Obama will win the White House on November 4 and Democrats will consolidate their Congressional majorities, probably with a filibuster-proof Senate or very close to it. Without the ability to filibuster, the Senate would become like the House, able to pass whatever the majority wants.
Though we doubt most Americans realize it, this would be one of the most profound political and ideological shifts in U.S. history. Liberals would dominate the entire government in a way they haven’t since 1965, or 1933. In other words, the election would mark the restoration of the activist government that fell out of public favor in the 1970s. If the U.S. really is entering a period of unchecked left-wing ascendancy, Americans at least ought to understand what they will be getting, especially with the media cheering it all on.
Some will say that the Democrats deserve a shot at undivided government again, since the Republicans had four years of control over both chambers of Congress and the White House in the Bush years. (Democrats controlled the Senate from 2001-2, thanks to Jumping Jim Jeffords.) Many Republicans, myself included, would gladly agree that the GOP didn’t use its opportunity to change the governing philosophy in Washington, but merely adopted its worst power-hoarding practices. That lost opportunity doesn’t mean the Democrats would make the same mistake.
Read the entire WSJ editorial. They note that in 1933 and 1965, liberal Democrats fundamentally abused the nature of government and its relationship to the economy in ways we still have not corrected. What changes can we expect in an Obama administration?
- Nationalized health care
- Union supremacy and a boost of cash to the Democratic Party
- Massive tax increases and redistributionism
- Curtailed free-speech protections
It’s not a pretty picture.

it’ll be much worse than those years. it’ll be the end of elections that actually mean anything, if we haven’t reached that point already. wouldn’t surprise me if this blog is shut down, along with most conservative media. we will become a totally socialist state, with all the ‘wonders’ of socialism like lack of freedom, and the economy will be a wreck. no reason to work, no incentive to improve, since the government will take the fruit of your labors.
dark times. not unexpected, but dark.

In short, our teetering monetary system (thanks to idiotic social engineering in our economy and financial system) will be brought to total ruin by the Dems enacting their anti-growth agenda, which will bring martial law (I’m not talking about hyperinflation, but total monetary collapse) and the end of the Republic.

It was the threat of expanding the SC by FDR abd the democratic majority that gave us The New Deal. It was originally ruled unconstitutional until the writing on the wall dawned on the SC and they re-decided. Or whatever the legal term is for overturning their original ruling.

That depends on a Supreme Court that believes the constitution trumps their personal opinions of right and wrong.
Obama has already declared that he will appoint judges who put their own opinion above mere law. And with a filibuster proof senate, he will get them seated.

No, it’s not a pretty picture and McCain will be the major backstop against a wave of liberalism/socialism. Let’s pray that on election day enough Americans will see this potential threat to America and send Obama back to the senate.

Not only will the socialists tax plans be a disaster so to will their energy plan. There will be no oil and gas drilling, no new nuclear power plants, and wind and solar farms popping up everywhere. The price of oil, gas, and electricity will jump if not skyrocket. We may get some blackouts. Can’t say for sure b/c I don’t know how much excess capacity we have.
Unemployment will rise as investors flee the US or hunker down for a few years. My only hope is that the public blames the Dems and doesn’t let the Dems get away with “the problems created by Bush and the GOP are so bad it will take years and years to fix”

Nationalisation isn’t the problem so much as the fact that if the Democrats nationalise something the Republicans will never under any circumstances make any attempt to re-privatise it.

right4life on October 17, 2008 at 3:12 PM
Let’s not look at this statically. I expect a major repudiation of everything Obama in the 2010 election.
He has made promises that no way can any human being deliver. The only disaster that the huge Democratic majority will be able to do is flood the country with illegal immigrants. Luckily, the economy is likely to be so bad that the illegals won’t want to come.
I saw two old ladies wearing Obama pins today. I just wonder how thrilled they would be with Obama creating a much larger lower class that will be criminally desperate. You’d think they would like their current freedom to walk around.

Senate majority leader January 3, 2003 to January 2007: Bill Frist

I am very proud of myself for that. When I was in my middle 30’s I was 46 pounds. (Don’t feel sorry for me). I did this to myself almost my whole life. What a waste I did. Only me. Now, I have never had more passion, a goal to just live and help my husband. He is the love of my life. I love people. We have to stand for McCain and Palin. If the worse happens, we have to stick together and raise some hell. Where there is a way there is a will. I know, easy for one to say. There are a lot of intelligent people in here. They are living in a dream. They want to bring the middle class down with them. On that Albert Smith Charity last night. Obama looked like Satan himself. Because he is Satan. I might get kicked out of here for saying this. This is how I feel. Good God, this is getting more and more scary. But, I will fight even more to keep my mind intact. Makes me want to fight even more. I have come a long way in the eight years I have been with my husband. I am now 117 pounds. It is going to stay that way too. Let us fight! Fight and don’t give up!!
