Video: 12-year-old called racist for wearing Palin t-shirt

Any proof that she actually was called any names? Nope, but that didn’t stop national media from trumpeting the lie that someone yelled “Kill him!” about Obama at one of Palin’s rallies last week. Consider this the logical end result of Murtha smearing his constituents by declaring them racist because they preferred Hillary to The One, of John Lewis comparing McCain to segregationists, of Obama surrogates accusing Republicans of racism, and of Obama himself musing about Maverick’s difficulties with people who don’t look like the people on the currency. It takes a lot of messaging to penetrate so deeply that even middle-schoolers start absorbing it, but Team Barry and their water carriers have been happy to oblige. The healer, they call him. Aha! Obama is RESPONSIBLE for this! [or he should be, if we're going off the Palin precedent]

She and her family will be smeared in 3… 2… 1

I’M SICK OF THIS DAMN ELECTION BEING ABOUT RACE! SICK OF IT!
Cardiganfox on October 17, 2008 at 4:44 PM
I’ll kickstart the smear campaign talking points:
1) This little girl’s name isn’t even Joe!
2) She’s not a licensed plumber!
3) She doesn’t even pay taxes!
What? It’s all 100% truly true facts, people. That’s what she gets for wearing that shirt!
Gilda on October 17, 2008 at 4:45 PM
Of course its racist! To oppose Bambi and be white is racist!
/Liberal thinking
CrazyFool on October 17, 2008 at 4:45 PM
I believe it. I’ve been called a “racist” and far worse from strangers when I’m wearing my Palin t-shirt.
lansing quaker on October 17, 2008 at 4:46 PM
The kid talks more reasonably about politics than some of my neighbors. At least she understands that there ARE issues beyond skin color.
Quisp on October 17, 2008 at 4:48 PM
I hope we are going to see some courageous black civil right leaders call out Obama for setting race relations back a couple of decades.
neuquenguy on October 17, 2008 at 4:49 PM
I’ve gotten that tripe from my neighbor, all because of my bumper stickers. I believe it too.
I’m also very proud of that girl for volunteering and being politically knowledgable. I can only hope the same for my kids, although that’s exactly what I intend to encourage.
Anna on October 17, 2008 at 4:49 PM
Oh gawd. It’s “unacceptable” but we can use it as a “teachable moment.” I hate those liberal buzz words.

Nauseating.
ronsfi on October 17, 2008 at 4:53 PM
From the story, it sounds like the teacher heard it, which makes me wonder why they didn’t interview her.
Either way, I have no problem believing it. I’m sure many of us here have similar and worse stories for things just as benign.
Also, I’m with Anna. I don’t have kids yet, but when I do, I hope they get involved like that girl. It’ll make it a lot easier for them to keep from being indoctrinated by college professors and peer pressure.
Esthier on October 17, 2008 at 4:53 PM
Somebody send that young lady a Rush Limbaugh “Club Gitmo” tee shirt…
I live in the South. When my kids were in high school, one of my daughter’s friends was suspended for a week because the truck he drove to school (which, by the way, belonged to his dad) had a rebel flag license plate on the front. However, the Malcom X shirts, Che Guevara shirts, etc. were all fine with the school administration.
uncivilized on October 17, 2008 at 4:53 PM
You mean, aside from the teacher who witnessed the events reported.
Oh well, I’m sure this girl just made it up so she could get her 15 minutes of fame.
Spirit of 1776 on October 17, 2008 at 4:54 PM
“Teachable moment.”
So, if I were a student in this girl’s school, and said ni*ger to any black student, I would not get in trouble but could use the word to start a dialogue?
I find that impossible to believe.
madmonkphotog on October 17, 2008 at 4:54 PM
Along with her last report card and her parents’ tax return.
Labamigo on October 17, 2008 at 4:57 PM
I’m sure this going to be all over the news and all the reporters are going to demand Obama answer why he and his surrogates have created such a hostile political environment …. no just fucking kidding. Acutally the media is going to destroy this girl. LOL!!!!

That sounds like you’re in Alabama, where I am. One encouraging thing I noticed this week on the Auburn campus during an annual thing called Hey Day: There was a College Republican booth, Gay Pride booth, Frat and Soroity booths. I couldn’t find a College democrats booth.
AubieJon on October 17, 2008 at 4:57 PM
Should be “what to think”

thevastlane on October 17, 2008 at 4:58 PM
She’s not 12. She’s 12 1/2. Skipped a grade. Has a tax lien against her for taxes owed for volunteering for a Republican. Doesn’t have a license.
McCain should have vetted her first.

She should be sent to Obama’s firts class charm school.
That’ll teach her!!
Mcguyver on October 17, 2008 at 5:10 PM
How do you keep your collective heads from exploding?
uncivilized on October 17, 2008 at 5:12 PM
The “teachable moment” is Barack Obama trying to become President by setting a tone of insulting women and destroying the progress of civil rights.
Are they teaching that?
Maher, Silverman, Bernhard, SNL et al are certainly thinking of ways to destroy this girl. SNL will probably have a skit with her as Sarah’s love child with JTP. The others will call her foul names. Letterman will mock her relentlessly, etc.
By the way, did anyone see the color the inside of their house was painted? Oh yeah, they are so racist.
econavenger on October 17, 2008 at 5:13 PM
The kids need to be beaten. Period.
Those parents need a good slap, too. They’re not upset at the school that took insults being directed at her daughter and turned it into a political discussion instead of punishing them? If that were my daughter, I’d be in the teacher’s face in an hour.
MadisonConservative on October 17, 2008 at 5:14 PM
That is a firts class color pink!!
If she was wearing white, she would be kicked out of firts class.
Mcguyver on October 17, 2008 at 5:15 PM
Obama doesn’t have to teach us these things.
That’s the advantage of being able to delegate your astroturfing to an effective campaign organization.

I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. MLK
I cannot help but believe that MLK meant the above for all people even though it was especially true for his children. It is amazing that the tables have been turned by Obama and his ilk and things have been totally reversed.
God help us…

BL@KBIRD on October 17, 2008 at 5:21 PM
During the primaries, my 10 year old boy was talking to a bunch of kids at the lunch table at his school about the Hillary/Bambi fight.
When my little guy said, that if he was old enough, that he would never vote for Obama, one of the kids looked him in the eye and said, “What are you anyway, a racist or something?
My son told him, “No, because I’m a conservative is all”
He told me about it that night. So, we went to the web and Googled, Michael Steel, Ken Blackwell, Judge Thomas and Thomas Soul and cut and pasted their photos and bios, and printed it out for him.
The next day at lunch, he handed the papers with the info to his little Obama supporter and told him, “If any of these guys were running for president I’d vote for them”.
The other kid said, “They aren’t qualified because they’re republicans.”
True story.
Over.

2nd lawsuit challenges Obama’s citizenship
Man demands state verify birth records or remove senator from ballots
Note: It is incumbent on ALL Secretaries of State in all of the United States to BOTH accurately verify Voters AND candidates. Barack Hussein Obama has sealed his “Hawaiian” birth records and also records in Kenya.
Failure to verify and certify qualification for ALL candidates in a general election by any Secretary of State may be a cause of action (dereliction of duty) and criminal charges may be filed.

I’m glad to see that these parents are discussing meeting with a lawyer to sue for harassment. It gets on my nerves to see these news blurbs where there’s already a lawyer sitting there talking about the emotional damage to the child and what would make it right ($$$$).
In 7th grade, my sister was attending a magnet school in the inner city. At lunch, a girl randomly walked over to her, declared that my sister was way too white and poured chocolate milk all over her.
When my mom called to talk to the vice principle, he said, “Well, we have no way of knowing what your daughter did to provoke her.”
That weekend, my mom bleached my sister’s hair platinum blonde and sent her back ‘even whiter than before’.
Perhaps it wasn’t the most mature way of dealing with the situation, but, my sister is one of the coolest cucumbers I know now. Sticks and stones can still break her bones, but, words bounce right off of her.
JadeNYU on October 17, 2008 at 5:36 PM
Sorry…I was missing an incredibly important “not” in that post.
It should say:
“I’m glad to see that these parents are NOT discussing meeting with a lawyer to sue for harassment.”
Sorry about that.
JadeNYU on October 17, 2008 at 5:38 PM
On the contrary, that was probably the best response to such hostility.
Browncoatone on October 17, 2008 at 5:38 PM
But associating with criminals and terrorists isn’t, unfortunately, a disqualifier for office. Being a naturalized citizen, or an illegal alien is.
If any state in the union fails to recognize the Senator as a native born citizen then we have the basis for a federal challenge to his taking the office no matter how many hundreds of thousands of votes he steals.

This “Racist!” slur should be about as effective now as “Your mother wears army boots!” and now deserves no more than the playground “I know you are but what am I?” in return.
Heck, I think I’ll start using it again.

Get this: I just checked my mailbox, and underneath my Dr. Who dvds there is the square flier from a (guess which party goes here) Congressional Campaign Committee. On the front: a picture of a suited monkey, saying “The last guy who had the job lost three billion dollars, so they figured even a trained monkey can do better than that.” Now, I guess it’s lucky that the target is white, female, and Republican – if the Republicans ran an ad with a monkey against a Dem., you just know someone would cry “racist!”
And, hey, my mom actually did wear Army boots! I never got that insult!
Anna on October 17, 2008 at 6:09 PM
Sorry, I kind of breezed through the comments here. But I want to ask you all if you caught this in the segment:
At one point the cameraman gets the camera lens at level of the coffee table, which happens to have on it an open bible on a bible stand, so you get a close up shot of that bible with the family sitting on the couch behind it.
