The media’s in a tizzy over Colin Powell’s Meet the Press endorsement of Barack Obama this morning.
It’s not a surprise to anyone who’s paid attention to his pro-Obama……

Waht is most pathetci is all the 1/2 Republicans (as I call them) who actually thought that Powell or Condi Rice would make great GOP presidential (or vice peresidential) candidates. Powell thinks that Palin is not qualified but that Obama is qualified? Yes the word courtier comes to mind – sort of like David Gergen in the pundit class. These guys go back and forth from the Repubs to the Dems without missing a beat.

But as he examined both campaigns in the last few weeks, he said, he became “concerned” that “in the case of Mr. McCain, he was a little unsure how to deal with the economic problems.”

“Every day, there was a different approach,” he said,

Unlike Congress. They have had it figured out since day one. Oh, wait……

adding that he also “would have difficulty with two more conservative appointments to the Supreme Court.”

So just exactly why does General Bowell consider himself a republican?

McCain would be a good president, Powell said, but Obama is “a transformational figure” who would be an “exceptional” leader.

and other than his popularity, what the hell is so transformational about the guy?

“I truly believe that at this point in America’s history we need a president who will not just continue … basically the policies we have followed in recent years,” he said. “We need a president with transformational qualities.”

For that reason, he said, “I will be voting for Barack Obama.”

Yeah, his transformational qualities certainly won’t lead us down the road of continuing what we have been doing…. like capitalism. But we will absolutely continue not holding anyone on the left responsible for their screw-ups.

Unfrigginbelievable.

If McCain went to a racist church for 20 years and left only when forced to when he got caught, and launched his political career in the house of a former abortion mill bomber — it would be insane for Powell to endorse him. So it’s mind boggling that he endorses Obama.

WHAT??? Frankly, that blows all his cred right out of the water. Palin is not qualified???? What about your two term state senator you’ve endorsed for the no. 1 position, General?? The term, “bald hypocrisy” comes to mind. Makes me think Powell has lost his pair. Seriously!

So it’s official now. Sigh.

His endorsement of Obama does not surprise me…

…however, the “hee-hawing around” that he has done up to the present does surprise me. Just proves that he’s averse to any kind of controversy, and waited until the very, absolute, last minute to do what he intended to do all along.

I completely agree, johnnyU. There could be no other substantial reason given what we know of both Powell and Obama.

He is a liar, he’s full of shit, and a racist, based on the fact he is apparently lying for Obama so he can vote for him based on the color of his skin, since everything he said was bullshit, that must be the reason. I’m sure his wife made him speak out, and she probably has more “Onions” than he does.

No one suggested “Obama would have terrorist tendencies”, it was a question of judgment. his brushing off of Ayers was worse than the way Geraldo Rivera brushed Ayers off by saying Obama’s relationship with Ayers is akin to ‘the relationship one has with ones paper boy’. It was ridiculous and he FINALLY showed his true colors after hiding his beliefs all these years making everyone wonder! but not me, a true conservative is not afraid to say what they are!.

“Taxes for infrastructure” is fine, but he’s being disingenuous when he suggests that THAT is what Obama is going to increase taxes for.Also Mr. Powell, I believe, just said ‘taxes by definition is the redistribution of wealth’??. He apparently thinks we are stupid.

i never believed he was a republican or conservative, and those comments would never come out of a conservatives mouth.

No, i never really liked Colin Powell personally, there was something about his silence all these years that made me wonder when he was going to come out with this horse shit.

His time in the military, he appeared to be a good man, and im sure in that arena he was, but he’s out now, and in the public political areaa.

I always thought he came off as a bit of a pansy after hearing all those stories about how his wife apparently controls him so much.

blacks voting for Obama regardless of Obama’s qualifications= Blacks determined to see O.J. aquitted regardless of guilt.

Another twisted thought from the resident dunce.
Question: What party have blacks voted with at about 80-90% of the total demographic for the last forty years?
Question: What was the race of the nominee for the party?
Question: What is the heaviest racial demographic of the GOP?
Question: Will the black vote alone vote anyone into office with 120 million voters nationwide?
Answers: Democrat/white/white/statistically impossible

If all the black voters for Obama were racist why in the name of Sam Hill did they support white candidates the last 40 years.
It ain’t racism sweetcheeks, no matter how badly you want to believe it.
As for a serious threat to future race relations are you saying that if a majority of the country picks Obama race relations should suffer?
