Video: Search for a Democrat who’s even mildly troubled by Obama’s link to Ayers finally ends

Realistically there were only two liberals we could expect to muster some outrage about it and one of them proved to be a complete letdown. Here’s the other, the last left-wing border enforcer (among media types, anyway), renewing our faith ever so slightly. Wright’s a good proxy for lefty orthodoxy here insofar as he has no difficulty getting agitated about this subject. It’s just that he’s agitated at Kaus for having misgivings about it, not at Obama.
Then again, he’s not nearly as far gone as some on his side, so thank heaven for small favors.

Mickey has always said positive things about Sarah. This is not really a big surprise.

Lovely cartoon.
amerpundit on October 16, 2008 at 2:55 PM
There are other dems who are freaked about Ayers, and they will be making their presence known in about three weeks.
Mac/Sarah win.

I enjoy reading Kaus. Robert Wright a lame argument (and presented in a manly, manly voice). Kaus is great in this clip.
Spirit of 1776 on October 16, 2008 at 2:58 PM
This Wright fellow is willfully ignorant.
Prufrock on October 16, 2008 at 2:58 PM
Ooooh! The “present tense” trick!
Too funny.
progressoverpeace on October 16, 2008 at 2:59 PM
Watching this clip, though, makes me wonder why people watch bloggingheadstv.
Spirit of 1776 on October 16, 2008 at 3:00 PM
When you believe, you believe!
When the truth about someone is despicable, maybe that person is despicable.
TheSitRep on October 16, 2008 at 3:02 PM
All depends on what the definition of “is palling around with terrorists” is.
CanadianGuy on October 16, 2008 at 3:04 PM
O’Reilly needs to send that reporter of his who confronts people over to Bill Ayer’s place. Hound him, camp outside his house, call him, etc. Just keep at it till he says something on camera.
D0WNT0WN on October 16, 2008 at 3:05 PM
Didn’t take long for the media to track down the Joe the plumber, my guess is Ayres wasn’t available.
tarpon on October 16, 2008 at 3:05 PM
I eat steak. I am not eating it at present, but I have in the past.
So when someone refers to me eating or having ate steak, it is proper that they would say “He eats steak”.
TheSitRep on October 16, 2008 at 3:05 PM
To the Lefty mind, one million William Ayers are not as evil as one Pat Robertson. So why should we be surprised they don’t care about one of them?
William Ayers is HERO to most of the Kos Krowd. He tried to kill conservatives of his day, which the Kosby Kidz are too scared to do in real life. Why wouldn’t he be a hero to them?
Speedwagon82 on October 16, 2008 at 3:07 PM
How about accusing Palin of not giving birth to her child, Trig? I think “stealing” a child from her mother is pretty severe.
right2bright on October 16, 2008 at 3:07 PM
It’s the type of garbage that Ted Rall would do.
wise_man on October 16, 2008 at 3:08 PM
Heh. They don’t even have that canard. She said that he “pals around with terrorists” (avoiding the dreaded ‘is’ that liberals don’t understand) which is not even present tense. It is an abstract reference to ones behavior and no one would interpret that to mean that he is doing anything in any specific time frame.
“I play ball.” That doesn’t mean anything about what I’m doing today, or yesterday, or at any specific time. It is informational. I play ball. BHO pals around with terrorists. Wright showed that he doesn’t understand English.
progressoverpeace on October 16, 2008 at 3:09 PM
Until Oslime-a, with his own mouth, dissociates himself from Ayres by apologizing for his association with said vile unrepentant terrorist, he is still a friend and is “palling around with terrorists”.
csdeven on October 16, 2008 at 3:09 PM
They try so hard.
*eats*

Sorry. I didn’t see your comment. Too much time typing …
progressoverpeace on October 16, 2008 at 3:10 PM
I don’t care if Obama was associated with an admitted, unrepentant bomber of the Pentagon/police stations etc. Obama does not pal around with a terrorist.
jerseyman on October 16, 2008 at 3:11 PM
Did anyone think “Odd Couple” when they watched? :-)
artchick on October 16, 2008 at 3:16 PM
“I don’t care about some old washed up terrorist” was a great line…
right2bright on October 16, 2008 at 3:19 PM
Wright uses the favorite liberal argument: Depends on what the meaning of “is” is.
She’s not sucking my d*ck right this second, so, NO, I’m NOT having sexual relations with that woman!
Obama is not sucking Ayers d*ck right this second, so NO, they’re NOT palling around.
jaime on October 16, 2008 at 3:19 PM
I was wondering if Wright was currently being treated for his schizophrenia? I think it’s nice to try and mainstream these folks and all, but … this is just embarassing to watch.
progressoverpeace on October 16, 2008 at 3:25 PM
Ayers, Wright, Rezko, Raines…it’s like it doesn’t stop but people are blindfully BLINDFULLY ignorant
spacekicker on October 16, 2008 at 3:25 PM
Provide a worse instance Mr. Wright?
How about in the 2000 election when the child of a black man that was killed by being pulled behind a pick-up truck in Texas accused Gov. Bush of killing her father all over again when he wouldn’t approve hate crimes legislation. The guilty parties in question got the death penalty so hate crimes legislation could not have punished them further unless we’re talking about torturing them before they get the death penalty. It was a despicable and nasty and unfair campaign commercial and a low point of that election.
kerrhome on October 16, 2008 at 3:26 PM
Closing line is the best:
“It’s not exactly a confidence builder.”
benjamin on October 16, 2008 at 3:27 PM
Really? Point out the quote where Oslime-a says he wont associate with the guy ever again.
You cannot because Oslime-a is parsing his words in order to keep the association open for further contact.
Stupid ass.
csdeven on October 16, 2008 at 3:30 PM
The point is, Obama hacks would not be concerned about it.
The target audience is fence sitters and they got the message.
Way to go Allah, trying to negate that impact by quoting hacks.
Mcguyver on October 16, 2008 at 3:32 PM
The sound of both of those guys talking remind me of the adults in a Peanuts cartoon. whaaaaa, whaa, whaaaaaa, whaa, wha, nasily voices and all. The Wright guy as a total tool.
Torch on October 16, 2008 at 3:35 PM
Is Robert really arguing this is the most despicable accusation based on present vs. past tense?!? So were still arguing what the meaning of is is…
clghitis on October 16, 2008 at 3:37 PM
Ayers, Rezko, Wright, Odinga, all the names pale in comparison to the biggest criminal associate of Obama. It is just too obvious and scary for the MSM to address. Even the blogs are hands off.
Google Bank of England – Black Wednesday do some research.
If you can’t spare the time, the executive summary is here.

Do you see any parallels between England fifteen years ago and the United States today beyond the citizenship of one man, George Soros?

“Guilty as Hell. Free as a bird.”
Thank you to U. Nebraska-Linclon for giving Ayers some more pubilcity.

and publicity, too.
Fook, I mangled Lincoln, too. Joe Typo.
reaganaut on October 16, 2008 at 3:52 PM
Wright said, “I am passing moral judgment on McCain and Palin”
I see. But God forbid they should pass moral judgment on Obama. That must be reserved for pundits only.
MagicalPat on October 16, 2008 at 4:04 PM
Ugh.
Cannot stand Wright. His whiny voice, his constant smarminess and snark posing as arguments, his melodramatic hyperbole.
He wouldn’t argue for a second if someone said that the Bush family “pals around” with Nazis.
MadisonConservative on October 16, 2008 at 4:09 PM
“if you laid it out acurately, it might bother me?” Is that what’s wrong with Liberals? They lie?
I would bet Wright knows nothing about fathering children.
bloggless on October 16, 2008 at 4:17 PM
Mickey Kaus actually sounds like a reasonable person.
Robert Wright comes across as a wee bit hysterical, self-righteous, and rather prissy. It was difficult to hear him without contemplating punching him in the mouth…
morganfrost on October 16, 2008 at 4:35 PM
Look at how liberals nuance Obama and Ayers.
Liberalism is a mental disorder indeed.
Black Adam on October 16, 2008 at 4:35 PM
Almost. He was cowed down to a position of claiming that there was any illegitimate part of the statement, at all. He knew that it was a factual statement, as he said earlier, but then he talks about “more despicable campaign attacks” when the answer was that there was nothing despicable about saying that BHO pals around with terrorists, since it’s true and relevant.
But he won back a couple of points by noting the absolute insanity on Wright’s part, though that was hard to miss, really.
progressoverpeace on October 16, 2008 at 4:42 PM
The guy on the left is a moron…
Tim Burton on October 16, 2008 at 6:10 PM
Kaus is almost always sane and rational. Wright is obviously a whiny, queer, butt-sniffing leftist nitwit. That such a pansy has no trouble with politicians who’s mentors are terrorists is quite remarkable.
Jaibones on October 16, 2008 at 6:13 PM
typical game of lefties and intellectually dishonest people, but perhaps I repeat myself. Change the level of linguistic precision you require throughout your argument as conveniently as possible
aikidoka on October 16, 2008 at 7:18 PM
That Wright guy is the antithesis of joe the plumber.
he should be on tv every single night making the case for obama. mccain would win in a landslide.
coondawg on October 16, 2008 at 7:50 PM
The McCain campaign has its own questionable connections to bombers and assassins.
Investigation ties Palin to ‘extreme right-wing fringe
McCain connections coming back to haunt him
Chimpy on October 16, 2008 at 8:02 PM
Wright is truly a jerk.
It bothers all thinking people.
Mojave Mark on October 16, 2008 at 8:13 PM
Obama lied about his previous involvement with Ayers and his knowledge of Ayers’ past. It’s perfectly reasonable to assume he’s continuing to lie and really does pal around with Ayers and Dohrn.
Wright is an idiot.
JimC on October 16, 2008 at 8:50 PM
I wanted to drive a nail through my skull after watching that.
greggriffith on October 16, 2008 at 9:26 PM
AP,
At 4:54 Robert Wright says, “I’m passing moral judgement on Sarah Palin and John McCain…” in objection to Palin’s usage of the phrase “Obama pals around with terrorists.” Funny how Wright’s moral judgement disappears regarding Obama’s decision to pal around with terrorists.
The left is much more agitated about the use of the adjective “unrepentant” than they are about the fact that Ayres is, in fact, unrepentant.
It is all about the narrative.
bains on October 16, 2008 at 9:58 PM
I think this is the best example I’ve seen of why the Left accepted the “depends on what your definition of “is” is” defense.
If you want to talk about tenses and make that the basis of rejecting the legitimate conern, then so be it. That is the childishness of the left on display.
Of course Obama stays as far away from Ayers as he can now, but make no mistake, Obama has NOT severed ties with this man in any substantial way. Should Obama have an inauguration, I expect Ayers will make an appearance and take his place on America’s new federal education whatever.
I also expect we’d see pardons of Ayers and his associates before Obama left office.
I did notice that dispite Wright’s claim that it’s of little significance, it was fairly easy to spot Wright’s tell. I strongly believe that many who vehemently “support” Obama will have a moment of truth once the curtain closes and they are alone with their ballot.
I’m more and more of the opinion that this will be a landslide election for McCain of Reagan-esque proportions. I think this dispite ACORN (unleash RICO on the bastards) and I also think the Dems might implode if Obama Loses and I wonder what the fallout from that will bring.
Just “imagine” what 700 billion real HARD dollars annually infused into the American economy would do. Drill Baby Drill!!!!
Jason Coleman on October 16, 2008 at 10:21 PM
IT’S NOT PRESENT TENSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good god, is he trying to argue this point via friggin’ linguistics?

Geez, Robert Wright is a snotty egocentric elitist butthead.
{^_^}
