I actually did laugh out loud. Especially at what he claims is Obama’s pet name for him.
Update: Here’s Obama’s speech. “My middle name, it’s not what you think. It’s actually Steve.”

McCain has been on a roll lately.
I’ve got a very very veeeeeery good feeling about this.
I think a thrill just went up my leg.

Great screen shot of “the smirker”.

I saw McCain’s speech and laughed out loud several times. He did really well while also hitting at Obama. Nice job.

When Obama tries to be funny, he isn’t.
.
.
But when he tries to talk seriously about his policies… I laugh my ass off.

If people see this it could move votes… he gets some solid, substantive jabs in, and keeps peoples’ attention.
DaveS on October 16, 2008 at 11:54 PM
McCain is really a funny guy and knows how to deliver a punch line.
Obama was just a guy trying to be funny who can’t line up a punch!
Too bad this couldn’t have been the 4th debate!!!

Se. John McCain just bought himself a “Worst Person in the World” for making fun of Bathtub Boy…

“And the Oscar goes to…”
The Old Man smacked BO up along side the head a dozen times…well-deserved.
I heard McCain and his men in the final months of their imprisonment in the Hanoi Hilton put on Dickens’ Christmas Carol to entertain themselves (McCain was Scrooge)…good training..
gracie on October 16, 2008 at 11:55 PM
Man, Mac was awesome. Obama was just average.
Borislav on October 16, 2008 at 11:56 PM
Humor advantage: conservatives. McCain is wickedly funny, as is Cheney. Bush himself was hilarious at the 2000 Al Smith dinner.
I wish I could remember the exact occasion, but McCain addressed some D.C. dinner or other in the late 90s, IIRC, and he was a revelation of sly wit.
Wow, Obama really does have a thin skin about Fox News, doesn’t he? His MSM glass is 99.99% full and he focuses on that missing drop. Where are the amateur psychologists when you need them?

McCain. Was. AWESOME!!!
Thanks for posting AP. After writing you back I kept checking YouTube for one video containing the whole thing, or even 2 parts that matched up, containing the whole thing, but couldn’t find one… guess someone finally got it up, and now we can all enjoy!!!
And by the way, for those that didn’t actually see this live, you may not want to waste your time on Obama’s. Unless you enjoy watching someone with so-so jokes, but HORRIBLE delivery. The only thing I can think is that he didn’t get a read through backstage. He stumbles through it, barely takes his eyes off the script, and often chuckles to himself about the jokes (after reading them), as if he’s hearing them for the first time. It wasn’t that it was the most painful thing to watch, but after McCain brought down the house, it was pitiful. And this isn’t just a partisan critique, this is an honest critique of his comedic performance.
Anyway, I’m hoping some of McCain’s jokes get play on cable news tomorrow. I’m certain Fox will be all over it.
I think the highlight for me was how brutally he ripped in to Obama a few times, as well as mocking the Clintons over the fact that they clearly want Obama to lose so Hillary can run in 2012. We all know this, and occasional righty pundits will say it on TV… But McCain saying it, to Hillary’s face no less, was AWESOME! Especially since she almost fell out of her chair laughing (and certainly thinking “it’s funny, because it’s true!”
Also, McCain nuking MSNBC made my night. He mentioned the “thrill” and everything.
RightWinged on October 17, 2008 at 12:02 AM
Mac really kicked azz that time! Xerobama was just ok. All bias aside, Mac won this “fourth debate”.

I agree that if this got out, it WOULD change some votes.

Obama didn’t mention Ayers or ACORN by name. This was his chance to try and defuse those bombs a little and he couldn’t even mention them by name. Hmm…

The Mac was skillfully brutal. Precision strike.
Then to finish with the gentlemanly praise.

B.O. bombed. I laughed out loud once. I can’t remember the joke but I do remember laughing one time.
MrC_5150 on October 17, 2008 at 12:21 AM
Very funny. Obama’s wasn’t as good, but leftists are not known for their sense of humor. Too bad he had to end up with a lecture about how crappy the US is and how we’re not taking care of people well enough.
PattyJ on October 17, 2008 at 12:21 AM
Too bad the MSM is going to suppress this brilliance.
Mojave Mark on October 17, 2008 at 12:22 AM
That was really really funny.
Don’t think The One was too crazy about the Messiah thing, but he laughed at the rest.
Hillary was enjoying every minute of it.
Ronnie on October 17, 2008 at 12:23 AM
Barry came off as a largely humorless scold, especially in the last half of his speech.

I am watching the Obama speech now, he has some good writing but he is dieing compared to Mac.
TheSitRep on October 17, 2008 at 12:26 AM
Oh, there’s that quick-witted, big-hearted, hilarious old codger! I’d been wondering.
Say, somebody should make him president!
But I think I may have to bill him for a new keyboard, after that “Zoroastrian New Year” bit.
Noocyte on October 17, 2008 at 12:26 AM
McCain’s speech was much funnier than Obama’s. Although the part where where McCain said that Keith Olbermann could ask him for advise on where he could put his mission accomplished banner after the election he really should have said Olbermann could have asked him for advise on where to stick it instead.
Dreadnought223 on October 17, 2008 at 12:26 AM
“Keith Olbermann has already order his ‘Mission Accomplished’ banner. And he can hang it in whatever padded room he’s in.”
That was very, very funny. And politically astute. I will admit, I didn’t know he had it in him. Kudos to Mac.
Physics Geek on October 17, 2008 at 12:27 AM
I’m actually more shocked at this than the news Mccain killed tonight.
Topsecretk9 on October 17, 2008 at 12:28 AM
McCain was really feeling it. Hysterical stuff. Don’t think I’ve ever seen him looking more presidential than tonight. Go figure.

Rumor confirmed, Palin will appear on SNL this saturday.
At first I was aghast at the idea, but after seeing Mac’s stint on the show, I now support it.

Viewtifulgare on October 17, 2008 at 12:30 AM
Obama not quite the master of timing, huh?
That was just awkward.
Ronnie on October 17, 2008 at 12:34 AM
Oslime-a wasn’t funny because he doesn’t have the capacity to actually be genuine while still being the puppet for his advisers. He is a robot. Hal 9000. His speech was designed to be just another stump speech. They saw the event as an opportunity to press his case to a captive audience.
If they let Oslime-a be Oslime-a, he would expose himself for the socialist jagoff that he is. Just like he did when he met his match in Joe the plumber. You can forget anymore rope lines in areas where he might encounter an independently thinking American.
csdeven on October 17, 2008 at 12:36 AM
I think Obama was almost as funny as Mac, but I couldn’t help but notice that in all of the jokes about his middle name, he never mentioned his middle name.
jgapinoy on October 17, 2008 at 12:36 AM
What was Obama’s Facebook joke about? Was that supposed to be a dig on McCain not being able to surf the internet?
Ronnie on October 17, 2008 at 12:36 AM
He lacks delivery, imo.
Spirit of 1776 on October 17, 2008 at 12:37 AM
That was good!
Dash on October 17, 2008 at 12:37 AM
Obama never once said his middle name both times he talked about it; is he ashamed of it? Why would he not, then, change it?

“Maverick I can do, but Messiah is above my pay grade”
Best. line. ever.

I wonder how the Cardinal felt sitting next to the most radically pro-abortion candidate ever?
Must have been uncomfortable for BO.
Do you think they talked about Father Pflegler?
joepub on October 17, 2008 at 12:41 AM
McCain was awesome. He was absolutely at his best. I didn’t bother listening to Obama because I knew he would suck. My brother and you guys posting confirmed my sentiments.
Cardinal Egan must have blessed John before he went to speak because he was on all cylinders.
Obama got intimidated by John and the Cardinal.
God is watching and blessing John. I am getting more confident about Mac’s chances. We got to go out there and fight for McCain/Palin and for the country!

$10 John cleared them with him.
Limerick on October 17, 2008 at 12:47 AM
Maybe it was funnier on radio. Obama delivered his entire speech to the podium. He needs to insist on teleprompters whenever he’s invited to these things, so he doesn’t come across like a D student in a high school speech class.
Ronnie on October 17, 2008 at 12:47 AM
If I had to guess, I’d say it was the bit about Biden being the one yelling, “Nobama!” That was the only time he nailed the delivery on a good line.
rw on October 17, 2008 at 12:47 AM
Mac was boffo!
Wish they didn’t kill the buzz with shots of Osama Obama….
He’s a genuine man. Emphasis on man. Too bad there’s only one running for president.
In contrast, The Messiah looked as if he had a pickle up his posterior.
I thoroughly enjoyed the first clip. Mac is a great guy.
MrScribbler on October 17, 2008 at 12:47 AM
Sen. McCain was fantastic in that speech! I couldn’t stop laughing. He is a good guy. I wish he could be a better advocate for himself and our team, but he is a genuinely good guy. I will be so delighted if he does “pull this off” and make it a very late night at MSNBC!
I don’t watch Saturday Night Live, but I might make an exception for Gov. Palin’s appearance. Hopefully, she’ll give every bit as good and she got from SNL.

Dude, it has been a good night for RightWinged (me)… After McCain finally took it to Barry during the final debate, he came out and knocked ‘em dead with his comedic side… And then the Red Sox came back from being down 7-0 in the 7th inning, facing elimination.. AND WON 8-7!!!! The biggest comeback in a league championship series, ever!!!

jbohanon on October 17, 2008 at 1:25 AM
I hope so. The guy has had all his dirty laundry shown to the world and he’s likely to lose his livelihood. I’m honest to God angry about what happened today and I just didn’t see the humor in it. I apologize if that makes me a downer. I don’t mean to be one.

Thanks for posting this AP, I needed the laughs.
Agreed, Johnny Mac had the better delivery, timing, eye contact, etc. Barack just doesn’t have the chops of the seasoned pro.
However, watching the two of them helped me relax a bit about the whole election. This country is bigger than our leaders. We’ve “survived” 43 presidents and we’ll survive the 44th, whomever it may be.
I pray for God to move on both of them to genuinely have the best interests of this nation foremost in their minds.
God bless America!

I really do wish they’d publicize and televise this more widely.
You can tell quite a bit about a man’s character in how he deals with humor, both in delivery and on the receiving end.
I think this half hour of humor (counting both speakers) was far more interesting and informative than the entire townhall-meeting-style debate.
ClintACK on October 17, 2008 at 2:07 AM
