This crisis would be Obama’s first crisis. Period. End of statement.

Not true. Obama's first crisis was to select a ghost writer for his "autobiography" after his publisher turned down his first draft.

It is important to note that Obama claims his work as a "Community Organizer" qualifies as executive experience thus making him suited for the Presidency. That ties him to ACORN, tightly. So he is trying to toss ACORN under the bus. With that goes his executive experience.

So no matter how he cuts it Obama is not suited for the White House due to his past associations or because he has no executive experience.

Sarah Palin may be a "trifle" under-experienced. She is showing signs of being a quick study who forms her own opinions and sticks with them. If McCain dies we end up with Palin, who is already better qualified than number 1 on the Democratic party ticket.

At least the Democrats do not have to worry, much, about Obama dieing in office leaving the innumerate liar Biden in office.

So we have a choice of two marginally qualified people or two utterly unqualified people. I've no trouble with putting McCain in The Chair under that basis.

You have to press the fear, uncertainty and doubt angle vs. Obama.

The recent financial crisis has certainly set the stage for the FUD strategy to work - the question is are enough people awake enough to hear the message.

I just talked to two of my coworkers - neither have been following the campaign. I told them I have, and while I have reservations about McCain, I told them that Obama isn't trustworthy - he reminded me of a former coworker that that talked a good game, but didn't do squat - all blow and no show.

I told them his economic plan doesn't add up - I explained he wants to increase government spending by a trillion, yet he also wants to cut taxes on 95% of taxpayers and he wants to balance the budget. He can't possibility do all three - if he's lucky he'll get one and really lucky he might get two, but it's not possible. I told them about the 100 economists including five Nobel prize winners that believe his plan will severely hurt our economy and that taxing businesses more will only pass those increased costs onto the customers of the business.

My point here is that we too can gently push the FUD factor in our daily conversations.

BTW - I'm still waiting for the Obama flip-flop commercials e.g. the post nomination Obama positions vs. the pre nomination positions - we need those coming to sow the seed of FUD as well - which Obama is he? Can you trust Obama when he's shifted his positions so drastically.

Last - everytime Obama says in a debate that "we'll have to look as that" it's pure "tell" that he's not even to consider it - it's DOA. It's simply a dodge of the truth.

Executive experience basicall comes from government, business, and military. Governement: VP, Governor, Mayor. Business: President/CEO. Military: Commanding Officer.

As head of an air wing and commander of a large military training group, McCain has executive military experience. As Governor and Mayor and head of the family fishing business Sarah Palin covers on two areas. Bush and Cheney were both experienced in business and government circles. Except for Gore with 8 years as VP, NONE of the Democrat Presidential or VP candidates in the last three elections have ANY executive experience. ALL the Republicans have significant executive experience, including those who ran but lost the nomination (Huckabee, Romney, Giuliani). The LAST thing Democrats care about is executive experience, and Sarah Palin has more executive experience than any Democrat candidate (president or VP) since Bill Clinton and Al Gore.

Mcguyver on October 16, 2008 at 2:30 PM

I can testify to the truth of that Ann Coulter column. In 1980 I was in graduate school at Harvard and never knew or saw anyone who was going to vote for Reagan. The Boston Glove managed to hide the polls favorable to Reagan. I was terribly depressed going into Election Day. I watched the returns with some other students and we all were completely flabbergasted. I'll never forget it, and I will never trust the polls as a result.

I took a class at Harvard in public opinion, and learned a lot about polling. I also worked for a year in an office shared by a top Republican polling firm. I pay close attention to the days the poll is conducted, the order of the questions, and the wording of the questions. Polls are amazingly easy to skew and get whatever results you want.

And again, this does not help Obama with his first class crisis.

Buckley's comment about why he was supporting Obama -- because of his first-class intellect, reminded me of what a couple of Obama-supporters have told me about his "qualifications" for president: that he was president of the Harvard Law Review. I remind them that Hillary Clinton graduated at the top of her class in Yale Law School (the top-rated law school in the country), and then a few months later she flunked the D.C. bar exam. The ability to parrot back liberal talking points on law school exams does not necessarily equate with real-world success.

My only question is, where the eff is my first class paycheck for this first class analysis!?!

If your analysis is correct, it comes bundled with McCain extending the Bush Tax Cuts.

If your analysis is flawed... well comrade you just filled out a confession.

I suppose 6 years in a POW camp and surviving is a walk in the park according to a douche bag like you. And he commanded a carrier air group.

Good God!! Where to you f***ing IDIOTS come from? Probably your mom's basement, but only after she pulls you off of her teat. Yeah. That's what I thought!

It’s reassuring. Is polling now any more accurate than it was then?

neuquenguy on October 16, 2008 at 2:35 PM

No, it's far, far worse!!

Read Ann's article, wherein only Eighty-Four Percent Say They'd Never Lie To A Pollster (so 16% will and do lie).

Which means a metric that has never ever been calculated before in a national election!!

The fact that no one answers their damn effing home phone anymore except geriatrics and at home bloggers (ie: AllahPundit and Debbie Schlussel), tells me that they have to be calling BACK PEOPLE THAT DO ANSWER THEIR HOME PHONE (conclude biased)!!

Therefore, this is another huge metric that has never been calculated before!!

All the above, on top of the fact that the polls are heavily weighted with Democrats and effing stupid undecided Independents (stupid is the only word to describe undecided at this point, therefore, they are Democrat/Liberal hacks that want to sound smart and sophisticated)!!

I know the pollster's excuse for weighing the polls heavy with Democrats is about quote-end quote past trends, BUT WHAT THE HELL IS TYPICAL IN THIS ELECTION (with almost as many people watching Sarah Palin debate as watched the last episode of Seinfeld)??!!

So..... this makes it an incalculable metric in historical terms!!

You want a poll that cannot be skewed (intentionally or unintentially?

Here it is: Do you think that the media is biased and is trying to elect a certain candidate?

Answered "yes" by 70% of the people..

That right there... is a straight out honest poll for you.... no twisting of words or taking it out of context!!

Now ask yourself... who would answer that question with a yes? Obama supporters? Of course not.

Republicans or McCain supporters would, but who else?
Anybody? Take a guess.
Ahhh there you go.. Hillary supporters...ding...ding...!

So given that the country is about evenly divided between Democrats and Republicans and given that pretty much half of Democrats supported Hillary.....

...now do you see where that number of "yes to media bias" comes in?

Conclusion:
McCain wins by as much as Ronald Reagan by my conservative estimates!

And the biggest losers... in this election are the pollsters, MSM (except maybe CNN) and Obama's first class classiness and his first class everything else.

My only question is, where the eff is my first class paycheck for this first class analysis!?!

OVER TO YOU HOTAIRERS!!

Next question.

Where has this been? This should have been an argument from moment one, not 20 days from the election.

We have been too busy talking about Palin qualifications to be vice-president. First things first.
