New McCain ad: “Joe the Plumber”

posted at 4:39 pm on October 16, 2008 by Allahpundit

In which Maverick calls the snap, rears back, and tosses his new political football downfield. The left’s very excited indeed to discover that Wurzelbacher’s not a licensed plumber and that he goes by his middle name(!!1!), so you should definitely take those things into account the next time you hear him ask a question about taxes. Hey — he asked for it by creating a bad photo op for The One.

Exit quotation: “Joe’s the man.”

Joe the Plumber caused the stock market to go from -400 to +400 today.
Thanks Joe the Plumber!

Hopefully just the first in a series though.

Malkin says its a web only ad. This looks like a TV spot to me. 30 seconds long.

lorien1973 on October 16, 2008 at 4:42 PM

They’ve had so many ads “zinged” over permissions, it seems, did McCain’s campaign get permission from Joe to use him in this ad? Do they need it?

Y-not on October 16, 2008 at 4:42 PM

He didn’t overdo it either. Specified “Americans” not just Joe.

NoDonkey on October 16, 2008 at 4:42 PM

It’s amazing that Joe is a better spokesman for conservative values and issue positions in this election campaign than McCain is

Palin is an even better spokesman, but now that they couldn’t destroy her the media are ignoring her, and the McCain camp is not exactly over-using her

Janos Hunyadi on October 16, 2008 at 4:43 PM

Joe Wurzelbacher will appear on FOX News Channel’s “Huckabee” program in an exclusive primetime interview Saturday at 8 p.m. ET. The show will re-air on Sunday night, also at 8 p.m. ET. Wurzelbacher will appear on the program with his son and father.

All Joe all the time!

B. Obeyme’s campaign is like a wooden Jenga tower. Everything looks fine, and everything is fine until things aren’t fine, at which time it all comes down spectacularly.

McCain is gettin’ his groove. Keep pulling blocks out of the little wooden tower. Soon it will collapse.

Obama was thinking, “say it ain’t so Joe!”

WAY TO GO JOE!
An average American is helping people realize that Obamessiah is a false prophet. He, as well as Palin, may very well get McCain into the White House!

This is a great ad. Even if BO wins, this is going help undermine support for his tax hikes and other 5 year plans economic programs.

thirteen28 on October 16, 2008 at 4:47 PM

This ad is so racist

tomas on October 16, 2008 at 4:47 PM

I think they missed the point, it is not just the taxes, it is the fact that they are going to “spread your money” around.
Better would have been…”they want to take your hard earned money and give it to someone else, shouldn’t that be your choice?”

right2bright on October 16, 2008 at 4:47 PM

Slam dunk.

Then we need some positive ads stating that McCain will do everything in his power to make the Bush tax cuts permanent – otherwise EVERYONE who pays taxes will see a rise in their taxes, state how much per year and per MONTH for say someone who earns 30k/year, and ask them what would you rather do with that money every month? Or do you want Obama, Reid and Pelosi to decide for you? End it with John’s McCain’s voiceover: “Chose on November 4th America, and choose wisely.”

leetpriest on October 16, 2008 at 4:48 PM

To be honest, I have things in my past that prevent me from doing more every election, nothing any worse than the average American, but still not something I would want out there. I have bought website addresses to do political sites, but decided it is not worth the scrutiny that will come with attacking the chosen one.

WoosterOh on October 16, 2008 at 4:48 PM

Amidst all the vicious personal attacks on Joe the Plumber, do you think anyone in the media will ever get around to pointing out that the issue is not Joe or his question it’s Obama’s answer?

Gilda on October 16, 2008 at 4:49 PM

Is Joe the real-world version of the movie “Independent”?
This should be his excuse to meet Kevin Costner.

AeroSpear on October 16, 2008 at 4:49 PM

Expect at least one late night show tonight to do a gag involving a Joe look-alike, bending over, low-slung pants and a ass crack. Which will be at least the fate of any private citizen caught on TV saying the emperor-to-be’s tax plan has no clothes can prepare to suffer.

do you think anyone in the media will ever get around to pointing out that the issue is not Joe or his question it’s Obama’s answer?

Gilda on October 16, 2008 at 4:49 PM

No, because the whole point of writing articles about Joe’s lack of a County plumbing license or his tax liens, etc., is to distract the public from the fact that Obama’s answer demonstrates that Obama is a Socialist who wants to take money away from people who work and earn it, and re-distribute it to people (including millions of illegal aliens) who don’t.

It’s amazing that Joe is a better spokesman for conservative values and issue positions in this election campaign than McCain is

Its not so amazing. conservative values are based on common sense. Most regular Americans believe in common sense solutions to most any issue and they talk about them all the time. Politicians are usually in a DC bubble and forget how to talk about regular common sense things. That’s why Palin can do this so naturally, she’s not been ‘in the bubble.’

On the related post in the next section over, I said regarding the attacks by the left on this man that we should “Never interrupt the enemy when he is making a mistake”, and I do think that the left is making a huge mistake by attacking Joe because, unlike Sarah Palin, he was not a public figure until he came into the limelight and does not seek public office and is like so many other Americans; but I also regret seeing this man being subjected to the vicious attacks on his life and character that he is facing.

The Obama/Democratic Party/left wing attack on this man is a harbinger of things to come should they take power and is something that Americans had better pay attention to. I honestly feel that our possible continued existence as a free society is at stake here. When we Americans go to the polls on November 4, we had better choose wisely, because we’re not going to get a mulligan here.

You can start hearing it can’t you………..?

I have the radio on at work, and the snarky comments about “Joe the Plumber” are starting to leak out in the so-called “news” breaks. Just like the attack on Sarah Palin, just like the drum beat against the Iraqi war, this is starting as…… “Did you know he had a lien against him?”, “no plumbing license..”, etc.

Wall to wall coverage to try to discredit the man, without a word to his message.

I must have been asleep when the main stream media performed the same anal exam on Barry’s buddie William Ayers.. who actually set bombs and people were killed……….

Seven Percent Solution on October 16, 2008 at 5:12 PM

Thank God they used this- it better be a TV ad. Of course try getting a station to run it.

Mostly on topic-

The Dem’s are going postal over this guy- he’s just a regular person with a family and they are going to try and destoy them. This is what an Obama THUG presidency will do to us all- the left is beyond rational and we have to shut them down or we’ll be back in Nazi Germany before you know it!

lorien1973 on October 16, 2008 at 4:44 PM

Exactly. And go to NRO. Lopez has posted at least three “Meet So and So” entries. They’re very good.

So, what does Obama counter with?

Whining college students at Ivy League school complaining about tuition? Go to a state school. Besides, we already heard enough about college loans from Michelle Obama.

Middle class voters admitting that they don’t pay income taxes and yet still want welfare in the form of a refund?

In all likelihood, it’ll be the waitress from Biden’s favorite restaurant that closed years ago complaining about health plans. McCain needs to get a punchy ad about his health plan out: the tax mechanics, the portability feature, the deregulation feature (so that it’s like auto insurance), and the availability to self-employeds.

Whatever the case, Joe is the “get out of my way so I can do it myself” guy that Americans have to be to succeed.

I even had an Obamatron voter (changed it since she’s family) tell me that I wouldn’t start out making that much, so it’s not my issue. WTF?!

I’m glad the Joe asked this question too, because it really speaks to the problem with Obama’s tax plan. Obama has been running his tax plan as an ad in my state and he does it with no reference to business, where it will really hurt, at all!

Spirit of 1776 on October 16, 2008 at 6:00 PM

What I really like about Joe the Plumber is that he is a perfect illustration of the failures of Obama’s tax plan: A humble plumber, were he to buy his own plumbing business, could easily end up being counted as earning the 250K beyond which Obamajebus wants to raise peoples’ taxes.
