Good news: Toledo moves to shut down Joe the Plumber

Look on the bright side. The media’s finally starting to vet acquaintances of Barack Obama.
Wurzelbacher registered as an apprentice with the Ohio State Apprenticeship Council in November 2003, according to Dennis Evans, spokesman with the Department of Job and Family Services. Records show his training, which was sponsored by A & W Newell Co. of Toledo, should have been wrapped last year.
“We don’t have a record of completion,” Evans said. “All we know is that he registered in the program and has gone through to the point where we should have record of completion, but we don’t.”
And that’s not the only record that’s missing from Wurzelbacher’s file. He doesn’t have a plumbing license required by the city of Toledo to practice, according to a staffer with the Toledo Division of Building Inspection. Wurzelbacher, who now works for Newell Plumbing & Heating Co., said the owner, Al Newell, has a plumbing license and that “because he works for someone else, he doesn’t need a license.”
But even that’s not true, according to the Toledo Division of Building Inspection. Wurzelbacher can’t legally do plumbing work without a license, regardless of his boss’s certification.
A staff person with the Toledo Division of Building Inspection told On Call this afternoon that her division will contact Wurzelbacher to notify him that he can’t work without a license.
“We’re trying to track him down,” she said.
Also revealed: His boss’s business probably doesn’t bring in anywhere near $250,000 a year so he should stop dreaming about turning it into one that does and what that might mean for his taxes. Which should be easy enough; he’ll probably be out of work soon anyway. Should have known better than to ask a media darling a tough question before your affairs were in order, Joe. Exit question: The law’s the law and it is, after all, his own fault for not having the papers he needs. If, say, an illegal alien had asked McCain a tough question and some righty media source responded by bringing his status to light, would the left feel the same way?

It’s OK Joe, this is all for the best. YOU DON’T NEED A LICENSE TO RUN FOR POLITICAL OFFICE!!!!!! And there is a lot of irony in that, you don’t need a license to run the country but you do need a license to install a garbage disposal. So run for mayor or state senator or something. Get into politics my friend, we need people like you!!

You guys keep blaming Obama for this but he asked the question of Obama sveral days ago, it didn’t gain scrutiny until McCain attempted to turn the guy into a generic everyman during the debate.

Good job, Democrats – assault the working man.
That’ll go over really well with middle America.
Voters need to hear Joe’s story – the story about how he had his life turned upside down and crapped on because he dared to challenge our presumptive socialist Overlord.

Nazi. Germany. Hitler. These people are animals. Everyone: send an email to ElRushbo@eibnet.com to ask for a “Joe fund”. I’m in for at least a hundred- this is obscene.
Now that Obama is getting his back up against a wall, his minions are coming out with unprecedented ugliness- unless you count the unprecedented ugliness to Sarah Palin, or Cindy McCain, or Joe Harris, etc.etc.
They have to be shut down NOW- tonite FOX news was all over, “What will happen” if Barry wins, and it was B.A.D.
“Bad” An actual three letter word.

Wow! That was fast! Toledo moves to shut down Joe the Plumber’s livelihood at lightning speed!
That must mean that the City of Toledo also moves at warp speed to shut down illegal aliens who work as unlicensed contractors in its city.
Toledo does do that, don’t they? Don’t they?

Bold is mine and I take great exception to this. The day Joe stops dreaming is the day he might as well surrender to idiots like Barack Obama. So what if he doesn’t know exactly how much his boss makes, he’s not supposed to know and maybe in reality he’s 10 yrs from buying that business. He posed a hypothetical to Obama and got one of the first HONEST answers we’ve seen from Obama. Joe rocks.

If this isn’t an indicator as to the function of Obama’s “civilian national security force“, then I guess we’re just as blind as those who really think John McCain is a “conservative”.
Send_Me on October 16, 2008 at 8:38 PM
Joe the Plumber will be remembered as the slow-bleeding wound that killed Obama’s campaign. I always determine how bad a hit is to a liberal by how viscous/vacuous/hypocritical their response is to a person or event that goes against their world view. Joe’s questioning Obama about the American Dream apparently was a true act of heroism. Should McCain win in November, and we avert the socialism that would be the Obama/Pelosi administration, I plan to send Joe some money to buy that business and will encourage others to do the same.
The legacy media has reached a new level of shameful behavior.
Mutnodjmet on October 16, 2008 at 8:38 PM
As far as I’m concerned, Osama Obama hasn’t qualified for the “license” to be a roadkill collector, much less president.
And this vicious crap doesn’t make me feel any better about him.
The political destruction of this menace can’t come soon enough. Even Nov. 4th gives him more time in the spotlight than he deserves.
MrScribbler on October 16, 2008 at 8:39 PM
I watched a plumber fix a leaking upstairs toilet by opening the ceiling below. The horrific situation that happened when the broken line crumbled over his head defies description.
$250,000.00? There isn’t enough money to convince me to do what plumbers do.

Let’s just state the obvious. Obama is a Stalin wannabe without the funny moustache or the murdering pedigree. Oh correction, that last part has already been handled by his “neighbor” Bill Ayers. In true Stalinist style, he sent out party media to state that his opponent was fomenting murder (a proven lie) when it’s Fauxbama acolytes who lust for the blood of Bush, Cheney, McCain, et al.

Joe, here’s a little advice.
1. Do NOT agree to any interviews unless you record the video and audio with your own equipment too, and with at least three witnessess in the room. Make sure you interview everyone there (like the interviewer, the cameraman, the driver of the van, etc.) with two quick questions: What is your name, and how long have you worked for *fill in name of news operation here*.
2. If any government employees and/or officials interact with you in any way, make sure you record that too.
3. Don’t take any shit from anybody, you can always find another job. Believe me, there are about 3 million companies that would consider your application.

“Mr. Obama, the peasants are revolting!”
“They certainly are…but, they’ll soon find out how much concern I have for them…cross me and I’ll fix their wagons….”
Even the establishment media noticed that, despite two self-celebratory books and having them solidly on his side, we as an electorate really didn’t and don’t know very much about Obama. Now, we know not only a very key bit about him, but also about his minions.
That tidbit? His unforgiving ambition.
Is all of this on his plate? Did an Obama staffer call to Toledo to fix Mr. Wurzelbacher’s wagon? Did some party apparachnik drop a few dimes and get the attack slugs of the bureaucracy to come down on Mr. W and his employer? I doubt that it was that organized or that sinister. I think that it was just true belivers coming together to do the unthinkable.
Ol’ Joe is gaining points with each attack. I expect a poster and an endorsement deal any day. If they put out a lunchbox, I’ll get a couple.

thmcbb on October 16, 2008 at 9:52 PM
Last night after the debate, I put up a humorous post on Joe the Plumber (Joe Wurzelbacher), who became the central point in said debate. We’re not laughing now, and the Obama campaign and their allies on the left are not laughing either.
In the wake of last night’s interview, when “Joe the Plumber” was mentioned by both candidates over 30 times, the press has descended on Holland, Ohio to interview the 34 year-old plumber.
And they are not liking what they are hearing.
It seems that Mr Wurzelbacher is letting them know in no uncertain terms that he doesn’t like Obama’s tax plan. He is also sounding off on taxes in general, the War in Iraq (he favors it) border security (he wants the borders closed) and on and on. Mr Wurzelbacher is a guy I’d like to have a few beers with-and I’d gladly pick up the tab.
Diane Sawyer of Good Morning America has interviewed him already today, and Joe wouldn’t let her put words in his mouth like when she tried to imply that he didn’t want to pay taxes at all.
Today, we have this from “Just Plain Joe Biden from Scranton, PENNSYLVANIA (with all its electoral votes):
“We’re worried about Joe the guy who owns the gas station, the barber, the grocer,” Biden told Diane Sawyer. “Ninety-eight percent of the small business people in America make less than $250,000 a year, and they’re going to get a real break under our plan. Joe the plumber, whose making over $250,000, is not going to get any more additional tax cuts with us.”
Response from Wurzelbacher: “I don’t make any $250,000 a year-not even close.”
And the lead head on the Daily Kos now is:
“So Joe (whose name is Sam) the Plumber (who isn’t a plumber) was used by McCain to attack Obama’s tax proposal, though Joe/Sam actually pays less tax under Obama (if he actually got around to paying his taxes.) Brought to you by the same people who think character attacks are more important than issues.”
Then, predictably, I turned on Keith Olbermann, and guess what he was talking about.
“Joe the Plumber”-and not in kind terms.
Says Keith: (I am paraphrasing)
“His real name is Sam.”
“He doesn’t want to pay any taxes whatsoever.”
“Lucas County has a lien on him.”
“There is, in an Ohio telephone directory, a listing for a Robert Wurzelbacher (no relation), who is……..a stepson of …….Charles Keating. (Dragnet theme music, please).
Did Keith (or one of his staffers) actually search the Ohio telephone directories to dig up this tidbit? I haven’t seen such great investigative journalism since watching the movie, “Pelican Brief”.
Notwithstanding the above nonsense, guess what? Today, everybody seems to be talking about taxes. That is a good thing because Obama’s tax plan is all smoke and mirrors. Here we have a big government liberal (who McCain mistakenly called “Senator Government” last night)who wants to spend a gazillion bucks on a bunch of liberal programs, re-distribute wealth, and he says he will cut taxes for 95% of the American people!!??!
Look for the following to happen:
1 The mainstream press interviewers will get out of Holland, Ohio as fast as their feet can take them. No more interviews.
2 The left and the press (like Olbermann) will try to dig up dirt on Joe (which means the investigative reporters and Obama operatives will hang around).
3 McCain and his campaign will use him big-time, which, if Joe is willing, they should.
4 Maybe, just maybe, we will have a story-book ending from some b-movie, in which Joe the Plumber becomes the man who turned an election.
Last night in my posting about the debate, I expressed disappointment that no one brought up illegal immigration, and I asked jokingly; “I wonder what Joe the Plumber would have said.” Today, I got my answer.
Here’s to you, Joe-and watch your back.

Glad everyone is just playing “Who can make the most clever comment game”. I am fooking furious. Are conservatives going to yet again just sit there and take it. The thugs on the left are using their media connections to intimidate a private citizen and everyone wants to make a god-dam joke about it?
The left taught us that crimes committed in a mob go unpunished so I think it is time to march on some of these groups, time for Rush to drop some change and hire someone to investigate all media elites. I want broken windows and overturned cars. I want f’n carnage.
ClassicCon on October 16, 2008 at 9:55 PM
Joe the Plumber’s story took life not because of the private life of Sam Wurzelbacher but because the question he asked demonstrates what Obama’s tax plan would do to to American small businesses.
Go back to Joe’s original question. Joe and Obama were talking “revenues” of a business not Joe’s take home pay. It’s a shame that instead of addressing the issues raised, the left has decided to attack the messenger.
katablog.com on October 16, 2008 at 9:56 PM
ClassicCon: I have to agree about the Right fighting back – I merely disagree with your suggested methods. There’s no reason to become a miniature William Ayers to stop the left’s intimidation.
What McCain needs to bring home is that it is the message of Joe’s question that is important, not Sam Wurzelbacher and it’s a terrible shame that the left has been able to turn off the message and attack a citizen in less than 24 hours.

Out of everything written here, this bothers me more than anything. Thank goodness everybody doesn’t have this attitude. Why do you even get up in the morning? Can you imagine where America, or the world for that matter, would be if you were the example we all looked to. Dude.
