Good news: Toledo moves to shut down Joe the Plumber

Look on the bright side. The media’s finally starting to vet acquaintances of Barack Obama.

Wurzelbacher registered as an apprentice with the Ohio State Apprenticeship Council in November 2003, according to Dennis Evans, spokesman with the Department of Job and Family Services. Records show his training, which was sponsored by A & W Newell Co. of Toledo, should have been wrapped last year.

“We don’t have a record of completion,” Evans said. “All we know is that he registered in the program and has gone through to the point where we should have record of completion, but we don’t.”

And that’s not the only record that’s missing from Wurzelbacher’s file. He doesn’t have a plumbing license required by the city of Toledo to practice, according to a staffer with the Toledo Division of Building Inspection. Wurzelbacher, who now works for Newell Plumbing & Heating Co., said the owner, Al Newell, has a plumbing license and that “because he works for someone else, he doesn’t need a license.”

But even that’s not true, according to the Toledo Division of Building Inspection. Wurzelbacher can’t legally do plumbing work without a license, regardless of his boss’s certification.

A staff person with the Toledo Division of Building Inspection told On Call this afternoon that her division will contact Wurzelbacher to notify him that he can’t work without a license.

“We’re trying to track him down,” she said.

Also revealed: His boss’s business probably doesn’t bring in anywhere near $250,000 a year so he should stop dreaming about turning it into one that does and what that might mean for his taxes. Which should be easy enough; he’ll probably be out of work soon anyway. Should have known better than to ask a media darling a tough question before your affairs were in order, Joe. Exit question: The law’s the law and it is, after all, his own fault for not having the papers he needs. If, say, an illegal alien had asked McCain a tough question and some righty media source responded by bringing his status to light, would the left feel the same way?

Let’s hope that the people don’t lose focus of the message. It’s not the man, it’s the message. Obama stepped in it and he can’t hide it anymore.

You know the answer. Wish they’d go after Ayers with that kind of fervor. Which begs another question: Is the news media way too powerful and in control of our government?

No media bias. The Liberals are all about helping the “little guy” and the “forgotten man”.

FTFY.

I hope Joe can weather the storm these b@stards are sending his way. Maybe we should pass the hat and start a fund to pay his legal fees, rent, and food bills.

Of course it’s not relevant when Democrats register convicted felons to vote, but it is relevant when a *gasp* unlicensed plumber dares to “get in [Obama's] face” with a valid question about his tax policies.

Got it.

Honestly, I’m not interested. The left can do personal destructive if they want to, but damned if I’m going to help them.

Obama can’t answer a guy’s question, so he’s open to an FBI investigation. I’m going do Joe a solid and not read or listen to a single thing that is designed to destroy him.

So he should have simply asked,

“Hypothetically, I’m a plumber who wants to buy a business and someday make more than $250,000 with that business. Under your tax plan, I won’t be able to, hypothetically?”

“….Spread the wealth….”

Funny, Barack answers the same way both times. Huh, seems the entire issue was never even about Joe the Plumber. How about that.

Grue in the Attic on October 16, 2008 at 6:38 PM

I’m a little tired of those on the other side using distractions. It doesn’t matter if Joe were a complete plant and fraud, the question even if hypothetical still stands, as does Obama’s answer, which reveals/confirms his natural tendencies and philosophy.

Obama is a liberal/socialist by record, not the moderate he attempts to sound like now. His gut reaction to Joe’s question is therefore not an anamoly or mere verbal slip but a confirmation.

And the rest, as they say, his history.

Buy Danish on October 16, 2008 at 6:40 PM

Dude. I hope some “undecideds” are paying attention to all this. If they had any brains at all, they’d be totally freaked out by this display of the powerful Obama and his media elite lapdogs coming down so swift and hard on a regular guy who just asked the candidate a question. These people took barely more than 24 hours to ruin a guy’s life and destroy his livelihood for daring to question the Obamessiah.

I can’t see Obullsh@t taking what happened last night very well – getting his own words thrown back at him – not well at all.

I think some really sweet ads could be made with this. Today Obama was even kind of mocking Joe on the stump! Splice that up and run it on prime time…and throw in a little Joe Biden “J.O.B.S” gaffe to top it off.

Can’t wait.

Having bureaucratic paper work not in order, is one thing. Sneaking into the country is another. In other words bad analogy.
Try this one, it would be like you not having a press pass while covering a convention. You can do the job, your questions and analysis is correct, you just didn’t have the pass.

This seems very odd. Ohio is quite clear that apprenticeship, that is, work as a tradesman, for a minimum of five years, which according to the cited source will be next month. Something simply doesn’t match.

“The Ohio Construction Industry Licensing Board (O.C.I.L.B.), Department of Commerce, Division of Industrial Compliance, issues state commercial licenses to the following contractors: electrical, HVAC, hydronics, plumbing, and refrigeration. To receive a state license, an applicant must meet the following requirements: 1) be at least 18 years of age; 2) be a United States citizen or a legal alien-must provide proof of being a legal alien; 3) either have been a tradesperson in the type of licensed trade for which the application is filed for not less than five years immediately prior to the date the application is filed, currently be a registered engineer in this state with three years of business experience in the construction industry in the trade for which the engineer is applying to take the examination, or have other experience acceptable to the appropriate section of the board; 4) not have been convicted of or plead guilty to a misdemeanor involving moral turpitude or of any felony; 5) pass the examination in the trade; 6) carry minimum $500,000 contractor liability coverage; 7) pay the applicable fees”

Something tells me this will backfire. Frankly, it doesn’t matter if Joe the plumber has a criminal background. He’s not running for office. Good point.. I told my wife the other day in a matter of two weeks the only thing we didn’t know about Sarah Palin were the results of any oscopy she had performed in the last 20 years..

Whereas in all the time Obama’s been running it only took a year to discover Rev. Wright was a hate monger, etc etc..

Amazing what’s really important
