Palin to McCain: Obama called you out

posted at 5:45 pm on October 15, 2008 by Allahpundit

If his own VP’s framing a confrontation over Ayers as a test of McCain’s honor, it’s obviously coming. Axelrod says The One’s prepared to talk about it. I’ll bet he is.

Skip ahead to 5:20 for the exchange about negative campaigning, which the ‘Cuda handles well, or watch from the start for her thoughts on Troopergate (also handled well) and the bailout (less well given that Maverick voted for it and she seems, er, opposed). Exit question: Doesn’t she realize how much “terror of the heart” she’s caused? Click the image to watch.

lol

Juan Williams just suggested that in the debate tonight, McCain should go populist and tell the folks he is going to attack Washington corruption like “the sheriff riding into Goochie Gulch to clean up the town”.

“Goochie Gulch” Bwahahahahahaa I thought he said “coochie” at first. lol

Obama will only be damning himself by doing that, because Jim Johnson and Frank Raines are even closer to the current economical mess.

Ryan Gandy on October 15, 2008 at 6:56 PM

every interview she gives she gets better. McCain camp were idiots to let her go on Gibson, the witches show. Pure elite idiots.

Gov Palin understands the people. What other politician would stop at wal mart to pick up some things? want to connect to voters shop at wal mart where 80% of the people shop.

I bet thay she knows the price of milk, and gas, etc.

SLAPping away in Kansas City.

unclesmrgol on October 15, 2008 at 7:01 PM

jerseyman – the problem with that logic is that (a) they’re firing off all their ammunition now and looking like fools doing it and (b) everything they’ve dug up to use against her now is going to be either discredited or look like very weak beer come 2012.

The unfortunate part is that the McCain campaign let the press get away with their lynching. Axelrod would have had lawyers trailing the reporters through Wasilla.

Right now the GOP’s got some pretty good new faces coming along – Palin, Pawlenty, Steele, Cantor, Jindal (if he can leave creationism alone for a few years) etc.

They’d better all get used to being called ‘racist’ for the next four years if The Godhead wins. Fortunately, enough of that crap and it becomes a badge of honor.

JEM on October 15, 2008 at 7:01 PM

Obama WANTS McCain to talk about Ayers. That way Obama can bring up The Keating 5.

SoulGlo on October 15, 2008 at 7:03 PM

Uh-uh, no dice of McCain failure to the bailout. Hard core conservative’s opposed it, but it was getting to the point where he would have been foolish to go against 50-60% of the voting public. WE didn’t want the bailout, but WE didn’t and still don’t know what would have happened without it. The whole bailout scenario will take months to play out. Meanwhile…..Obama continues to spend our grandchildren’s tax dollars….

That’s what we’ve been saying since the convention!

Local media. Friendly interviews, then eventually national media (if they stop being jerks).

McCain took the opposite approach – as usual.

lorien1973 on October 15, 2008 at 7:05 PM

Nice studio. Folding metal chairs..LOL

Wade on October 15, 2008 at 7:07 PM

Any chance John can call in sick tonight and have Sarah take his place?

N4646W on October 15, 2008 at 7:08 PM

McCain has been telegraphing his new get tough strategy for several days now.

If he doesn’t come up with something other than Ayers I’m going to be pretty disappointed.

He needs a gotcha moment. He needs to shake it up a bit.

Hoping for Change.

Dorvillian on October 15, 2008 at 7:08 PM

Probably a taste of The One is prepared to give is a comment someone left on my blog. To paraphrase: Ayers/Dohrn only bombed bathrooms, not people, it’s a scant association and Kissinger was involved with Operation Condor so Kissinger/palin/mccain.

I doubt The One will take it that far but that’s what his supporters do. Obama will probably note that Annenberg has contributed to his campaign so he’s just as connected as Obama is.

aikidoka on October 15, 2008 at 7:09 PM

He should call Obama out on calling him out.
This isn’t some school yard where you wait for some kid after school to beat him up.
McCain should say, Obama had his chance when given the opportunity to have 10 debates, he chose three. While I was in prison fighting for my life and honor of the country, your affiliate was bombing and attempting to kill my supporters. You want to be affiliated with him, and I say until he apologizes to the American people, you can have him. While I was voting for the surge, you were hiding in the senate, afraid to back our troops…you were calling our troops murderers.

right2bright on October 15, 2008 at 7:09 PM

As to Ayers, the domestic terrorist, McCain should ask Obama if he would sit on a board with the only other guy who ever bombed the Pentagon- Osama Bin Laden.
If not, why not?

Neither one has any regrets.

Does Barry have any?

Or any judgment?

Or conscience?

profitsbeard on October 15, 2008 at 7:21 PM

Exactly what did she expect when she tried to reason with Nambla Chowley Gibson? Any ideas? Essentially an extension of McCain’s mess of a campaign?

John McCain will be the 44th president of the United States. Sarah Palin will be the 45th president of the United States. Que sera, sera. The matter is settled.

ManlyRash on October 15, 2008 at 6:23 PM

I believe so too. All the way down to my crunchy little bones.

This interview makes Couric look like a moron who blew her chance to get a good interview from SarahCuda.

csdeven on October 15, 2008 at 6:25 PM

Indeed. Especially when she just grinned her way through the interview with Biden when he claimed “When the stock market crashed, Franklin Roosevelt got on the television and didn’t just talk about the princes of greed. He said, ‘Look, here’s what happened.’”

LOL, Dunce and Dunchess.

My wife has this one on our gas guzzling Expedition. I can’t tell you how many people have asked her where she got it. And we live 20 miles outside DC.

Kevin71 on October 15, 2008 at 7:31 PM

I think the bailout was inevitable. In fact governments all over the world are doing this kind of intervention. It is not just here. That kind of scares me because it makes me think it is not just some kind of ploy, but a real crisis.

I don’t like the idea of a bailout, but I don’t like the idea of a complete collapse of the financial markets either. I think the reason it got this bad because people just did not want to face how serious the problem was.

But I think McCain has to have more than Ayers. People just do not seem to care about that.

jazz_piano on October 15, 2008 at 7:33 PM

Sarah did do very well.

Terrye on October 15, 2008 at 7:33 PM

I think McCain’s biggest problem is that he isnt a good debater. Sure, he could tag Obama but can he respond well to Obama’s duck and spin reply? It’s not just having the material but being able to work within the contraints of the debate format to maximize it and keep your opponent off balance. That’s a difficult skill for most I think.

aikidoka on October 15, 2008 at 7:38 PM

Terrye on October 15, 2008 at 7:33 PM

This is very real. The question is whether it is too real, which, unfortunately might be the case. This is why BHO in office is so scary a proposition.

progressoverpeace on October 15, 2008 at 7:39 PM

Every time I see her in an interview, she gets better and better. Maverick should her her as his stand-in tonight.

Terrye on October 15, 2008 at 7:33 PM

I thought so too. But now I’m not sure. The bailout proved to be a colossal failure except for enacting fistfuls of democrat pork. I’ll never forget the triumphant smile on Pelosi’s face afterwards. Something tells me they got positioned somewhere on their evil little chessboard that has been overlooked by all the analysts to this very day.

Plus, the bailout triggered panic in other markets worldwide. Opened the door for more billions of spending here at home, and they’re working on the third batch as we speak.

How I wish I knew what George Bush ransomed in exchange.

RushBaby on October 15, 2008 at 7:47 PM

If McCain had just let her talk a month ago, he would be even in the polls.

Speedwagon82 on October 15, 2008 at 7:53 PM

Just watched it.

On reduced government revenue in bad economy under McCain’s plan: The revenue should be with the people, not the government. “The government has plenty of money. It’s just a matter of prioritizing.”

On “negativity” in campaign:
Notes that the issue of “associations” is relevant because 1. Matter of judgment, and
2. Showing “where he wants to lead this country.”

References Hussein “call[ing] [McCain] out” on this (the one thing AP discusses).

References Hussein’s “get in their face” instructions.

The campaign is taking a more aggressive stance. Too bad AP tried to cover that up.

Tommygun on October 15, 2008 at 8:01 PM

Yup, she’s the GOP’s next nominee.

MedSchoolCatholic on October 15, 2008 at 8:03 PM

Governor Palin goes to Washington!

This candidate is the one to clean house and set the priorities straight with a vision and philosophy that does America proud.

Couric could learn a few lessons about how to conduct a professional interview on substantive issues from just watching this tape.

Blaise on October 15, 2008 at 6:18 PM

Blaise, I think that all of the points that you list would win over undecideds and independents if McCain would address them with conviction and simply drop all reference to bipartisanship. If McCain has guiding principles for his security and economic plans, he should be able to convince the opposition to embrace them for the good of America. He must keep his “country first” focus and point out how all Americans benefit from growth.

Just a (paranoid) aside: Was someone manipulating the markets today in order to provide Obama with a soapbox about how we are in the “worst economy evah”? (Has anyone seen his buddy Soros lately?)

Wade on October 15, 2008 at 7:07 PM

Oh, too right, Wade. The styrofoam columns were at the dry cleaners. Impressed with style over substance, are you? Any comments over Governor Palin’s hair style or clothes? (Kathleen Parker can fill you in on those talking points.)

Gawd I luv this gal! C’mon Big John, take the Lady’s advice and grow a pair tonight!

aikidoka on October 15, 2008 at 7:09 PM

Hello. Obama and Ayers misused funds for political purposes in the guise of education and wasted those moneys in measurable ways while not achieving any academic improvement.

onlineanalyst on October 15, 2008 at 8:36 PM

I don’t mind her not being 100% with McCain on everything. She is her own person, after all. I do wish that independence, considering they’ve only been a team for a few weeks, would stop being called out as some sort of failing on her part. Geesh.

lostinfrance on October 15, 2008 at 8:55 PM

I’m going to laugh my a$$ off when the Secret Service finds that the people yelling the “kill him” threats are ACORN employees hired to go to McCAin Palin rallies to do just that!

CCRWM on October 15, 2008 at 9:54 PM

I like the way she turned the question of negative campainging on the reporter by talking about O telling his followers to “get in people’s faces”! She is absolutely fantatic!

CCRWM on October 15, 2008 at 10:05 PM

What a great job she did here. The more she gets out there and people see her, the more they will like her and want to vote for the ticket. I wish McCain could have picked her a month before he did and then just let her go out there and rip it up until election day completely unfettered by his campaign.

t.ferg on October 15, 2008 at 11:26 PM

I wish McCain could have picked her a month before he did and then just let her go out there and rip it up until election day completely unfettered by his campaign.

Yeah, but he would have had to listen to conservative morons in order to do that. What would his RINO base that pulls the lever for Dems have thought?!
