Murtha: You know who’s pretty racist? My constituents

Lots of people e-mailing about this to push it out there and give Bill Russell a boost. Happy to help. What you’re seeing here is the supreme arrogance of a guy who’s shoveled so much pork at his district over the past 30 years that he’s concluded he’s election-proof, and therefore perfectly comfortable dumping on his supporters in a taped, on-the-record interview less than three weeks before the polls open. And you know what? He’s probably right. He’ll probably win by 20 points. If crapping on the Haditha Marines and refusing to apologize isn’t a dealbreaker, why would this be?
Oh, and about those Marines: Today he stood by what he said about them two years ago being cold-blooded killers, convictions or no convictions. Click the first image for the racism comments and the second for his continuing nuance about Haditha.

There is no congressman I hate more.

Oh boy. I hope he gets pounded on Nov 4th.
What a toad.
Marine_Bio on October 15, 2008 at 5:07 PM
Well, they did vote for him.
Esthier on October 15, 2008 at 5:07 PM
I can’t waste my time to listen to that gas bag. I don’t know if the people in his district are racist, but they are certainly stupid.
bopbottle on October 15, 2008 at 5:08 PM
Oh, Barney Frank is pretty high up on my list. Too bad he’ll be running on my Nov. ballot unopposed.
BKennedy on October 15, 2008 at 5:08 PM
I’ll tell you what, they’re not racist, but they be the dumbest for continuing to elect this guy…

18-terms. WTF
lodge on October 15, 2008 at 5:09 PM
So, does this mean he’s not running for yet another bid at reelection?
’cause he’s pretty damned stupid to be talking smack about those who can help NOT get him elected again, or think this won’t come back to bite him in his fat pork-filled arse..
UncleOlaf on October 15, 2008 at 5:10 PM
Why would anyone vote for this man?
Terrye on October 15, 2008 at 5:10 PM
Murtha, like too many corrupt, arrogant, useless politicians won’t leave office until they’re dead. They have no honor and no shame. They are a disgrace to their offices and have renounced the public trust. Barney Frank is another criminal who is in a safe seat.
DerKrieger on October 15, 2008 at 5:10 PM
You get the feeling that Mrs. Murtha is either a serious harpy or a battered wife?

PATHETIC…

Allah, Russel’s website is no longer at that link. It’s here.

How the “F” does this no-talent ass-hat keep getting re-elected? I mean really, PA!
Claypigeon on October 15, 2008 at 5:13 PM
Also, someone who must be PURGED from representing the USA and PA..
reshas1 on October 15, 2008 at 5:14 PM
Never mind. I could’ve sworn Russel had a new URL for his brigade site. Apologies.
amerpundit on October 15, 2008 at 5:14 PM
The Bill Russel site has some weird routing issues. You might want to replace the link URL with this URL:
http://www.russellbrigade.com/
spmat on October 15, 2008 at 5:15 PM
Oh, wait. Here’s the direct URL.
amerpundit on October 15, 2008 at 5:15 PM
And Murtha is a traitorous bastard who should be tried for treason by a military tribunal and if he is found guilty he should be publicly hung.
and that’s how I fell about it.
theguardianii on October 15, 2008 at 5:16 PM
Let’s see: Murtha says that people from his district are racist. But that’s OK, because “old people are pretty slow.” Oh, but don’t worry; because that’s gotten a lot better over the past two or three months.
Wow. Just… wow.
logis on October 15, 2008 at 5:16 PM
Obama’s blaming Fox.
Murtha’s blaming his consituents.
What next? The philandering federal official from Florida blaming…the devil?
Didn’t Flip Wilson have a skit in which he would ultimately say that the devil made him do it?

ConservativePartyNow on October 15, 2008 at 5:21 PM
Murtha’s to-do list;
Impugn the honor, integrity, and humanity of the Marines- check.
Call his constituents “racist”- check.
My guess is, he’s either trying to shame everyone into voting for The One (in keeping with DNC SOP this year), or creating a CYA alibi as to why he couldn’t deliver his district to the Messiah on Nov. 4.
Either way, he demeans his office. And considering what others in the Congress have done, that’s actually a noteworthy achievement.
/In the “hits bottom, digs” sense, that is.

He brings millions of dollars home and gives some jobs to a place that is very economically depressed.
Bob Byrd is the Senate version of him and I know from experience why voters back him (Lived over 35 years in WV)
They see they get SOMETHING from a politician. They believe atleast there is some benefit to having a politican bring them pork.
Its sad to see so many believing that one man is the whole basis for its economy. ITs like electing the robber barons of the early 20th to power and giving them control of entire areas.
William Amos on October 15, 2008 at 5:22 PM
It is just so sad to see him win. You are what you elect.

alwaysright43 on October 15, 2008 at 5:28 PM
Just flat out laughable.
The asshat dinosaur congressman who has refused to see how things have changed for the good on the ground in Iraq, refused to accept the outcome of a military tribunal, has the nerve to say something like that?
Hey, old guy, you’re a little freakin slow yourself.
Come on western PA, get rid of this fool.

Congressman Mutha suffers from what is technically know as the semperideliriumnarcissistmaximus syndrome. It is a long word, as German words often are, but basically means he is a crazy selfish old fart with delusions of grander.
He is also suffering from moderate to sever Alzheimers, but unlike another who suffered from that disease, he does not have the class to suffer with grace.
My treatment plan would include:
1) Triturating up to very high doses of Donepezil, Galantamine and Rivastigmine.
2) Possible electroshock treatment at high voltage. The judicial placement of several leaches on his head may also be beneficial.
3) Being placed in a small private room with a couple of Marines may also be needed as a last resort.
Even with this complete treatment plan, his chances of making any clinically significant recovery are unfortunately quite small, but we in my profession do have the responsibility to at least try.

‘Western Pennsylvania is full of racist, Bible-quotin’, gun-totin’ Democrats bitterly clinging to McCain.”
jgapinoy on October 15, 2008 at 5:35 PM
How the people of Pennyslvania could re-elect this unrepentent pile of crap will be a mystery to me if they do. I can’t see how anyone could not look at this guy and see him for the vile wretched excuse for a human being he really is!
I sincerely hope those Marines sue him into poverty! I honestly hope that they do!
pilamaye on October 15, 2008 at 5:37 PM
Precisely. Their heads are buried too deeply in the slop trough to know…or care. His tenure in the House may very well rival that of Robert ‘Sheets’ Byrd in the Senate.
Somewhere out there Mencken in smiling.
ManlyRash on October 15, 2008 at 5:40 PM
I’m nearly certain that his constituents aren’t racist, but if they reelect this overstuffed, disgusting POS then they are hopelessly stupid.

Democrats are better than republicans … how?
yo on October 15, 2008 at 5:50 PM
Yeah, and people in western PA must also be pretty stupid, in addition to being racist. After all, they have re-elected this white dumb-ass 18 times and still haven’t figured out he’s a dumb-ass. They kind of make the people in West VA look smart, and that’s no easy trick!
Brass Pair on October 15, 2008 at 5:50 PM
Are there any ads running anywhere in the state with Obama’s dis of Pennsylvanians who cling to their guns and religion? I would think that would stir up some voter outrage on election day.
deedledee on October 15, 2008 at 5:50 PM
exactly.
Brass Pair on October 15, 2008 at 5:51 PM
Have you looked at a map of Murtha’s district? It takes gerrymandering to a level that would have put Gov. Gerry to shame. It’s almost as bad as that N.C. district that for miles at a time was just the roadbed of I-85.
It’s got the Dem strongpoints in each of the suburban counties south and east of Pittsburgh, in addition to most of his home county.
either orr on October 15, 2008 at 5:51 PM
He’s an absolute disgrace.
Nothing more to say.

This guy is an embarrassing POS. Someone should shove an Al Qaeda operative up his azz and leave it there to ripen.
Griz on October 15, 2008 at 5:55 PM
Kinda like mine, District 6, in Jersey. Looks like three maps of Italy all stuck together haphazardly.
IrishEi on October 15, 2008 at 5:56 PM
In a later interview Murtha elaborated on those around him, “And my wife is ugly and can’t cook worth a damn.”

As a western Pennsylvanian, I say dittos.
The only Congressperson more comptible than he is Pelosi.
petefrt on October 15, 2008 at 5:59 PM
Thanks for the link. Palin afraid of interviews? She’s busy doing local interviews all over the country. Why should she give Obamaniacs NBC or CNN a ratings boost?
jgapinoy on October 15, 2008 at 6:00 PM
He gets re-elected because of the gerrymandering and the pork – but mostly the gerrymandering. Before anyone else is tempted to make a fool of themselves by making idiotic generalizations about “western Pennsylvania”, please take the time to look up a map of the 12th district.
forest on October 15, 2008 at 6:01 PM
Oh now Murtha is calling Western Pennsylvania racist. How can he be sure? Oh he bases it on his personal friends…..
kanda on October 15, 2008 at 6:05 PM
Can you describe the demographics of that district?
JiangxiDad on October 15, 2008 at 6:06 PM
From lib Wikipedia about the 12th
JiangxiDad on October 15, 2008 at 6:10 PM
looked it up myself. sorry, was being lazy. It seems that technically Murtha can criticize W.Pa without necessarily including his own constituents, but it is still a monumentally dumb thing to say on many levels.
JiangxiDad on October 15, 2008 at 6:12 PM
Murtha is one of the 535+ morons who ‘represent’ us, for shame.
Entelechy on October 15, 2008 at 6:18 PM

dinobalz on October 15, 2008 at 6:22 PM
That second picture (above) makes me think he already has one.
yo on October 15, 2008 at 6:30 PM
Yoiks, I am geographically surrounded by idiots.
Let me tell you that several of those towns in Murtha’s district have a heavy infiltration of union thugs and organized-crime figures who probably influence the vote, shall we say. One of them had numerous irregularities in 2006 when the election board in its precincts was allowing voting even though the judge of the precinct had “forgotten” to bring the sign-in book to the polling place. This supervisor said that this flouting of election protocol was “all right because we know everyone in our precinct”.
Another irony re Murtha is that he has funneled a number of military-related projects, particularly to his Johnstown home base and to his relatives, by exercising his influence in his armed-services committee.
Bill Russell is such an honorable man/candidate. It is too bad that he has to face off with Murtha, the corrupt old fool.
onlineanalyst on October 15, 2008 at 6:34 PM
“One of them” refers to the towns Murtha serves. All I can figure is that he must be on the take or heavily blackmailed.
onlineanalyst on October 15, 2008 at 6:36 PM
I second that!
silenced majority on October 15, 2008 at 6:37 PM
This jackass is a reminder of all that’s wrong with the Democratic Party. I hope he wins reelection for the next three races.
Palin can stroll into the White House in 2012 on the backs of jackasses like this.
EMD on October 15, 2008 at 6:40 PM
A lot of former steel-mill workers who still bitterly cling to the fantasy that the mills, which left in the ’80’s, will resurrect. They blame Reagan for the loss of the mills, too.
I wonder what Murtha’s position on mining is. There are plenty of coal field in a chunk of his district. Does Pelosi have a choke-hold on any support that he could give?
onlineanalyst on October 15, 2008 at 6:40 PM
And that’s really good news because this wasn’t even on the radar when they were talking about the Dem revolution.
Question, how much money would the Republican Party have to raise to buy the amount of media the Democrats get for free?
Where is the culture of corruption meme? Geez.
It’s the media stupid. Is everyone really to boycott these bastards now?
hawkdriver on October 15, 2008 at 6:49 PM
And he’s a moron. He said we could support Iraq and Afghanistan from Okinowa.
hawkdriver on October 15, 2008 at 6:51 PM
I dunno. I’ve got some friends in the Johnstown area, and from what they tell me, people are starting to tire of Murtha shooting off his mouth (aside from the union hacks). Things are starting to look up in that area (at least they were until recently), so they may be ready for a regime change.
manwithblackhat on October 15, 2008 at 6:52 PM
manwithblackhat: Let’s hope so because a goodly number of the troops hail from Murtha’s district. He demeans them all with his malicious, ill-considered talk.
I sport a Russell Brigade tee shirt whenever I find myself in Murtha’s district. The shirt has piqued an interest in Murtha’s opponent, and I do not attribute that interest to my fine, shapely contours.
onlineanalyst on October 15, 2008 at 6:59 PM
I gave money to the woman who ran against him in ‘06 and I gave money to Russell to fight him this year….and I live in Virginia.

We deserve the politicians we elect. I love you Western PA, but you’re the ones that keep bringing this piece of garbage back to Congress.
The same holds for the presidential race. Even though none of us (hopefully) will be voting for His Holiness the Obamessiah, if he gets in, then America deserves him. Sad really.

TugboatPhil on October 15, 2008 at 8:38 PM
Most state elections have devolved to the same point as presidential elections: people picking the “lesser of two evils” instead of trying something new. That’s how.
Either that or PA has the collective intellect of a cabbage.
I’m hoping it’s the first one.
Dark-Star on October 15, 2008 at 8:40 PM
I grew up in Western PA and Western NY. Many of these people are still bitter about factory and mill closings that happened in the 70’s and 80’s. But on the other hand, most of them own guns and hunt and go to church. They didn’t appreciate Obamas comment about “gun toting, Bible thumpers” and are afraid of what he might do to their 2nd ammendment rights and gun control. That’s where the real issue is.
