Murtha: You know who’s pretty racist? My constituents

Lots of people e-mailing about this to push it out there and give Bill Russell a boost. Happy to help. What you’re seeing here is the supreme arrogance of a guy who’s shoveled so much pork at his district over the past 30 years that he’s concluded he’s election-proof, and therefore perfectly comfortable dumping on his supporters in a taped, on-the-record interview less than three weeks before the polls open. And you know what? He’s probably right. He’ll probably win by 20 points. If crapping on the Haditha Marines and refusing to apologize isn’t a dealbreaker, why would this be?
Oh, and about those Marines: Today he stood by what he said about them two years ago being cold-blooded killers, convictions or no convictions. Click the first image for the racism comments and the second for his continuing nuance about Haditha.

I (unfortunately) live in his district. I have voted against him ever since the formation of the district. Was combined from two Democratic districts a while ago. Lots of Steel and Coal Unions present here.

I can see the word “murtha” becoming a perjorative at some point. Just difficult to see for what; stupidity, arrogance, corruption…all of the above at one time in a fat, ugly package? I could be wrong, though. Maybe I just need to go out and get a lewinsky and settle my mind.

Shouldn’t Murtha keep his big mouth shut? The people of Western PA should call him out and say “Prove It”! He opened his big mouth and accused our Marines of despicable things and he has been proven wrong and I hope he pays dearly for those words also!!

I grew up in that area. Most of Murtha’s voters are so elderly, they remember when Murtha was born.

I didn’t wade through all of the comments but, the 2006 Governors Race shows that his district, Pittsburgh and Philadelphia won’t vote for a black, the rest of central PA, from NY to MD did.
I grew up in Central PA.
Murtha is an idiot, but he’s in good company with San Fran Nan, Barney Frank, Maxine Waters, etc…

Real Clear Politics doesn’t show it as a seat that is in danger. Murtha is the king of pork as Mary Katharine Hamm pointed out on one of her Hamm Nations earlier this year. Those who bring home the bacon (Byrd, Murtha, Schumer, Stevens, et al) tend to get reelected.
