Debate: Live chat and open thread

Tonight we have the final presidential debate for the 2008 cycle, and if you’re in the Twin Cities area, we have some party ready for you!  AM1280 The Patriot will host a debate party at Trocadero’s in Minneapolis tonight.  The Northern Alliance Radio Network will emcee an evening of fun and politics, including my radio partner Mitch Berg, Power Line, SCSU Scholars, and Fraters Libertas.  We’ll have free appetizers and a cash bar. The debate goes from 8pm CST to 9:30pm CST and doors will open around 7:30pm. Admission is free – but please RSVP at the handy AM1280 RSVP Page so we can plan accordingly.

You won’t miss anything at Hot Air, either, if you’re not able to make it to the party.  We’ll have a live chat room running during the debate, with Jazz Shaw and Lady Logician moderating a cast of thousands — literally!  Since the live streaming has interfered with the operation of the blog for some Hot Air readers, we’ll skip that and stick with the chat room.

I’ll also make a post-debate appearance on the Hugh Hewitt show at 10:30 CT to discuss the night’s events and their implication for the election. And yes, I shamelessly recycled the first two paragraphs of this post from my pre-debate analysis.  I’m all about efficiency, baby!

As my lawyer friend would say, when your defending yourself, you’re not winning.

Over30 on October 15, 2008 at 9:38 PM

Obama is lying about not being involved in his campaign, AYers launched his campaign from a party at his HOUSE!

Bikerken on October 15, 2008 at 9:38 PM

now rebut obama’s lies about ayers and acon.

lavell12 on October 15, 2008 at 9:38 PM

Way to skip a question obama!!!,…He didn’t answer the question on Ayers at all,..just tossed other people WHO ARE NOT RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT in the mix!!!!!!

christene on October 15, 2008 at 9:38 PM

Obama’s looking like crap… Get him John…. This could be the knockout we need.

Fires1 on October 15, 2008 at 9:38 PM

Tobias2012 on October 15, 2008 at 9:39 PM

STEP UP JOHN, PLEASE. NAIL HIS ACORNS TO THE WALL!

NightmareOnKStreet on October 15, 2008 at 9:39 PM

We don’t care who you associate with now.

yo on October 15, 2008 at 9:39 PM

Anyone know how long this debate is scheduled to last?

90 mins… hopefully until Barry is in fetal position, whimpering.

electric-rascal on October 15, 2008 at 9:39 PM

Obama didn’t know Acorn was corrupt, just like he didn’t know Ayers was a washed up terrorist.

Cr4sh Dummy on October 15, 2008 at 9:39 PM

Obama,

“The only involvement I have had with ACORN is giving them $832,000!”

Star20 on October 15, 2008 at 9:39 PM

And I also assoiciate with Ranins and Johnson from Fannie and Freddie! He’s full out lying his ass off now!

Bikerken on October 15, 2008 at 9:39 PM

Throw some more names around –

…no, buddy, those ARE the facts.

uncivilized on October 15, 2008 at 9:40 PM

It’s now a ladder match.

Over30 on October 15, 2008 at 9:40 PM

Obama’s response was near flawless.

BO just laughed??

Damiano on October 15, 2008 at 9:40 PM

Obarfy is lying through his damn teeth. The ass is flat out LYING.

Bishop on October 15, 2008 at 9:40 PM

Barry: laughing and smirking is helping (us!)

common sensineer on October 15, 2008 at 9:40 PM

Ugh….Mac dropped the ball in the end zone.

Nice.

The Ugly American on October 15, 2008 at 9:40 PM

Whiff.

Mac had his chance – didn’t do it.

dugan on October 15, 2008 at 9:40 PM

That was a major gaffe by Obama. McCain was letting the Ayers thing go, and Obama, out of the blue, launched into this big defense on the subject.

forest on October 15, 2008 at 9:40 PM

I’m still nervous…but McCain is doing pretty well and bambi looks flustered.

dmarie on October 15, 2008 at 9:40 PM

GOOOD! McCAIN TOOK SOME HINTS!!

MSM will now completely cover Ayers/Acorn sins and dismiss them as having no import.

electric-rascal on October 15, 2008 at 9:41 PM

But he knows the best botox Dr’s in all of DC

anniekc on October 15, 2008 at 9:41 PM

The Ugly American on October 15, 2008 at 9:41 PM

TheKernel on October 15, 2008 at 9:41 PM

SCRANTON – drink!

common sensineer on October 15, 2008 at 9:41 PM

Moderator is doing a good job letting them go at it. Oh, except for this question about running mates. Bias finally shows up.

Over30 on October 15, 2008 at 9:41 PM

Did Obama deny being in Ayers house for a fundraiser?

RBMN on October 15, 2008 at 9:41 PM

palefaced on October 15, 2008 at 9:41 PM

I’m surprised that Obama didn’t bring up McCain’s own connection to ACORN.

eaglescout1998 on October 15, 2008 at 9:41 PM

Again, here is the “Running mate becoming president question”! Doesn’t anyone see what’s going on here? The implied question is, “What if you are assinated?” creating a very subtle racial tinge to the debate.

Bikerken on October 15, 2008 at 9:41 PM

Bob’s asking some meaty questions.

yo on October 15, 2008 at 9:41 PM

Judgment! Barry’s doesn’t have any!

profitsbeard on October 15, 2008 at 9:41 PM

36288 who won the debate!..(A) for McCain!!

christene on October 15, 2008 at 9:41 PM

I don’t think independent voters will find the mention of ACORN as funny as Obama apparently does.

capitalist piglet on October 15, 2008 at 9:42 PM

WHY would you pick as a running mate a man who nobody wants as president – see also: how many times has Joe Biden run for president, and how many primaries has he won?

uncivilized on October 15, 2008 at 9:42 PM

barry is a liar

custer on October 15, 2008 at 9:42 PM

Obama – full screen – check.

McCain – split screen with Obama – checkity check.

fossten on October 15, 2008 at 9:42 PM

I’m sure others have said it, but I am very happy with how McCain is handling this. Good job.

progressoverpeace on October 15, 2008 at 9:42 PM

McCain needs to attack “tax cuts” – why give them to people that pay no taxes?

electric-rascal on October 15, 2008 at 9:42 PM

John’s got him back on his heels. He has to keep swinging…he’s got nothing to lose.

hot-heir on October 15, 2008 at 9:42 PM

BO is floundering.

Straight down the toilet, if he is elected!
Lord, please don’t let it be so.

kareyk on October 15, 2008 at 9:43 PM

I wish McCain had asked him whether he really wanted to look into the camera and tell the American people that his ONLY association with ACORN was one case he argued over a decade ago.

Also… hate the “why is your VP pick better than his VP pick” question.

ClintACK on October 15, 2008 at 9:43 PM

If I need to know what to do, I’ll ask Joe Biden… the guy less than 1% supported in this election.

Yup. Good one Bambi.

I’m surprised that Obama didn’t bring up McCain’s own connection to ACORN.

eaglescout1998 on October 15, 2008 at 9:41 PM

This is one huge example of why McCain is such a poor candidte for the republican party, he has never been a conservative.

Bikerken on October 15, 2008 at 9:44 PM

McCain needs to just say, “she’s real, America loves her”

Cr4sh Dummy on October 15, 2008 at 9:44 PM

McCain’s gotta’ work on his public speaking skills.

On that level, Obama’s thrashing him.

And the people they do love a man who can speak.
