Debate: Live chat and open thread

posted at 7:05 pm on October 15, 2008 by Ed Morrissey

Tonight we have the final presidential debate for the 2008 cycle, and if you’re in the Twin Cities area, we have some party ready for you!  AM1280 The Patriot will host a debate party at Trocadero’s in Minneapolis tonight.  The Northern Alliance Radio Network will emcee an evening of fun and politics, including my radio partner Mitch Berg, Power Line, SCSU Scholars, and Fraters Libertas.  We’ll have free appetizers and a cash bar. The debate goes from 8pm CST to 9:30pm CST and doors will open around 7:30pm. Admission is free – but please RSVP at the handy AM1280 RSVP Page so we can plan accordingly.

You won’t miss anything at Hot Air, either, if you’re not able to make it to the party.  We’ll have a live chat room running during the debate, with Jazz Shaw and Lady Logician moderating a cast of thousands — literally!  Since the live streaming has interfered with the operation of the blog for some Hot Air readers, we’ll skip that and stick with the chat room.

I’ll also make a post-debate appearance on the Hugh Hewitt show at 10:30 CT to discuss the night’s events and their implication for the election. And yes, I shamelessly recycled the first two paragraphs of this post from my pre-debate analysis.  I’m all about efficiency, baby!

johnnyU on October 15, 2008 at 9:05 PM

McCain’s looks wouldn’t be that big a deal if he was debating The Pantsuit. But Obama baby-like appearance emphasizes his war wounds.

Speedwagon82 on October 15, 2008 at 9:05 PM

VoteBait McCain

electric-rascal on October 15, 2008 at 9:05 PM

McCain hasn’t even gotten through his first sentence and he’s already blowing it by getting into incomprehensible details.

lavell12 on October 15, 2008 at 9:07 PM

I am so tired of Obama and the middleclass nonesense. Yeah, companies are shipping jobs overseas and when he imposes more taxes on them the rest of the jobs will go overseas. TAke it to him on this.

christene on October 15, 2008 at 9:07 PM

A rescue package for the middle class? His “tax cut for families” is actually just more income distribution through refundable credits for people who don’t pay any taxes.

Bikerken on October 15, 2008 at 9:07 PM

I don’t want Barry to determine what a “crisis” is. An increase in the price of arugula?

The plumber doesn’t want your half-ass tax breaks Obama. He wants to keep his money and expand his business.

RBMN on October 15, 2008 at 9:10 PM

Come back at him McCain – don’t let his talking points knock down your Joe Plummer argument!

electric-rascal on October 15, 2008 at 9:10 PM

Obama voted FOR tax cuts for big oil in energy bill.

roninacreage on October 15, 2008 at 9:10 PM

NO, NO , NO . You cannot cut taxes for 95% when 40% don’t pay taxes . Say this.

church on October 15, 2008 at 9:10 PM

Why didn’t McCain tell America what obama said???…SPREAD THE WEALTH AROUND!!!!!!

HornetSting on October 15, 2008 at 9:10 PM

Now McCain is getting down in the weeds in the business tax thing, Obama is lying through his teeth about 95 percent of americans getting a tax cut, Half the people in this country don’t pay any taxes at all.

Bikerken on October 15, 2008 at 9:10 PM

Why can’t McCain get his words out? He seemed to do well when he was debating Romney.

dmarie on October 15, 2008 at 9:10 PM

It’s not a tax cut if you don’t pay taxes; it’s redistribution of wealth.

Over30 on October 15, 2008 at 9:10 PM

please bring up the 30% WHO DON’T PAY TAXES!!!

common sensineer on October 15, 2008 at 9:10 PM

lavell12 on October 15, 2008 at 9:10 PM

Sorry Joe the Plumber, but in the United Socialist States of America, it will be “from each according to his ability, to each to according to his need”.

carbon_footprint on October 15, 2008 at 9:11 PM

church on October 15, 2008 at 9:11 PM

Important choices = redistribution of wealth

electric-rascal on October 15, 2008 at 9:11 PM

McCain seems to think that just bringing up the plumber, or whatever is sufficient. He doesn’t have the kill stroke needed to drive the points home.
