Debate: Live chat and open thread
posted at 7:05 pm on October 15, 2008 by Ed Morrissey
Tonight we have the final presidential debate for the 2008 cycle, and if you’re in the Twin Cities area, we have some party ready for you! AM1280 The Patriot will host a debate party at Trocadero’s in Minneapolis tonight. The Northern Alliance Radio Network will emcee an evening of fun and politics, including my radio partner Mitch Berg, Power Line, SCSU Scholars, and Fraters Libertas. We’ll have free appetizers and a cash bar. The debate goes from 8pm CST to 9:30pm CST and doors will open around 7:30pm. Admission is free – but please RSVP at the handy AM1280 RSVP Page so we can plan accordingly.
You won’t miss anything at Hot Air, either, if you’re not able to make it to the party. We’ll have a live chat room running during the debate, with Jazz Shaw and Lady Logician moderating a cast of thousands — literally! Since the live streaming has interfered with the operation of the blog for some Hot Air readers, we’ll skip that and stick with the chat room.
I’ll also make a post-debate appearance on the Hugh Hewitt show at 10:30 CT to discuss the night’s events and their implication for the election. And yes, I shamelessly recycled the first two paragraphs of this post from my pre-debate analysis. I’m all about efficiency, baby!

Bishop on October 15, 2008 at 10:18 PM
Mr. Moderator, please give a number how much we train in Education in the industrialized countries. We’re in the 20′s. Obama: more money, more closing the gap, more going to college money. Barry, it’s the parents, the parents, and uh, the parents.
Over30 on October 15, 2008 at 10:18 PM
$162 million in Annenberg money for education + radical educationalist claptrap = 0 results.
The new math.
DrSteve on October 15, 2008 at 10:18 PM
Once again, Barry’s answer is to throw more money at the problem.

This won’t win McCain the NEA endorsement.

Well, in my five-kids-of-college-age experience, the best cure for student loan debt is two years at a community college.

Been stuck on CNN for the entire debate and watching their dial of uncommitted voters. Interesting observation – whenever Obama goes off on a long-winded (say nothing) diatribe, the line for uncommitted women went off the chart.
That says it all right there. Charmed by a used car salesman.

Stop affirmative action quotas, stop social engineering college acceptance, stop giving scholarships to sports (which will encourage academic candidates). Best scores and best transcripts get the acceptance, not color of skin, race, sports accomplishments, etc.
Over30 on October 15, 2008 at 10:24 PM
LOL, Odoof just said he was against vouchers.
Now Mac is reminding you how many parents want such a program.
Game over.
Mac wins and wins BIG.
Bishop on October 15, 2008 at 10:24 PM
Yeah, you know – somebody has to pay for college. Take Obama for example. He found an Islamic radical to help out with HIS Harvard tuition. He wouldn’t want anyone else to have to do such a thing, I guess.
