Debate: Live chat and open thread

Tonight we have the final presidential debate for the 2008 cycle, and if you’re in the Twin Cities area, we have some party ready for you! AM1280 The Patriot will host a debate party at Trocadero’s in Minneapolis tonight. The Northern Alliance Radio Network will emcee an evening of fun and politics, including my radio partner Mitch Berg, Power Line, SCSU Scholars, and Fraters Libertas. We’ll have free appetizers and a cash bar. The debate goes from 8pm CST to 9:30pm CST and doors will open around 7:30pm. Admission is free – but please RSVP at the handy AM1280 RSVP Page so we can plan accordingly.
You won’t miss anything at Hot Air, either, if you’re not able to make it to the party. We’ll have a live chat room running during the debate, with Jazz Shaw and Lady Logician moderating a cast of thousands — literally! Since the live streaming has interfered with the operation of the blog for some Hot Air readers, we’ll skip that and stick with the chat room.
I’ll also make a post-debate appearance on the Hugh Hewitt show at 10:30 CT to discuss the night’s events and their implication for the election. And yes, I shamelessly recycled the first two paragraphs of this post from my pre-debate analysis. I’m all about efficiency, baby!

Obama spouting BS
electric-rascal on October 15, 2008 at 10:03 PM
OMG Obama is screwed. I can’t wait for the official analysis of this ramble.

Speaking of CNN they have the reaction graph at the bottom of the screen again. Supposedly hooked up to Ohio “uncommitted voters”. Which probably means they’re all wearing their orange ACORN shirts.
Big dip into the red when John said “Joe, my (plumber) friend…” and it has stayed there right thru Canada & England. Now bario took over talking to Joe and the graph is on the rise… way up. Now lets talk about Sen McCains plan, needle drops to middle. John needs a strong finish. And he can’t “out-entitle” the king of the give-a-ways.

Good Attack McCain!!
electric-rascal on October 15, 2008 at 10:04 PM
IMO Obama is too crafy and sneaky with his words that hes used this to deflect much of the shrapnel sent his way. The hard-core republicans are loving it, but average Joe (not the plumber) isn’t going to see through it. Obama is just more articulate and a very effective liar. McCain’s only hope is to corner him on something and then use it to build a narrative.

This is the first debate that I’ve been proud of John. He’s not as smooth as The Messiah, but damnit, I like him!

Obama’s plan is more like color re-distribution. He want’s to take all the green from the white and the yellow and give it to the brown causing us to see red.

Hands can’t be laid on the Obama man, the flim flam man.
His mind may be in the clouds and his talk may be make believe.
Oh lord, the man’s a fraud, he’s a flim flam man. But he’s so cagey, he’s a flim flam man.
Hands can’t be laid on the Obama man, the flim flam man.
He’s wrapped up in a big beautiful box making out like he’ll give you more gifts than Santa Claus.
Oh lord, the man’s a fraud, he’s a flim flam man. But he’s such a fox, he’s a flim flam man.
Everybody wants him, the Germans and the Brits, and all the Hollywood elites he does disarm.
Oh yeah, the beautiful gent, you know he’ll leave you with hardly a cent.
But he’ll pay your rent with his charm.
Hands can’t be laid on the Obama man, the flim flam man.
His plans may be up his sleeve and his talk may be make believe.
Oh lord, the man’s a fraud, he’s a flim flam man. But he’s so cagey, he’s an artist.
But he’s such a fox, he’s a flim flam man.
Don’t believe he can be floored, he’s a flim flam man.

Okay John….Barry just opened the door to talk about abortion!
Hit him on it!!!!
IrishGirl17 on October 15, 2008 at 10:10 PM
Tobias, with respect, Obama’s wrong. You can only keep your employer-provided coverage if your employer opts to keep offering it rather than taking the “pay” in the “play or pay,” paying the as-yet unspecified payroll tax amount and foisting you off on the government plan. Lewin Group did an analysis of Edwards’ p-or-p plan and said tens of millions would be dropped from their employer-provided plans.
DrSteve on October 15, 2008 at 10:10 PM
Here’s your chance, John…hit him on the Born Alive Protection Act!!

No, thanks – I realize I’m supremely blessed to have the benefits I have. I also realize that as a blue collar Federal employee, I don’t have nearly the elaborate health care plan that members of Congress enjoy. And, I realize that I pay more for mine than they do for theirs.
My point is simply this – Obama claims that under his plan, the healthcare provided will be the same as that enjoyed by Federal employees – I only wonder which category that would be.
