Debate: Live chat and open thread

Tonight we have the final presidential debate for the 2008 cycle, and if you’re in the Twin Cities area, we have some party ready for you! AM1280 The Patriot will host a debate party at Trocadero’s in Minneapolis tonight. The Northern Alliance Radio Network will emcee an evening of fun and politics, including my radio partner Mitch Berg, Power Line, SCSU Scholars, and Fraters Libertas. We’ll have free appetizers and a cash bar. The debate goes from 8pm CST to 9:30pm CST and doors will open around 7:30pm. Admission is free – but please RSVP at the handy AM1280 RSVP Page so we can plan accordingly.
You won’t miss anything at Hot Air, either, if you’re not able to make it to the party. We’ll have a live chat room running during the debate, with Jazz Shaw and Lady Logician moderating a cast of thousands — literally! Since the live streaming has interfered with the operation of the blog for some Hot Air readers, we’ll skip that and stick with the chat room.
I’ll also make a post-debate appearance on the Hugh Hewitt show at 10:30 CT to discuss the night’s events and their implication for the election. And yes, I shamelessly recycled the first two paragraphs of this post from my pre-debate analysis. I’m all about efficiency, baby!

I cringe every time I hear either one of them talking about the govt getting into bed with business. It can’t ever be a good thing.

Detroit doesn’t make fuel efficient cars because unions keep them from being able to compete in that market.

What Detroit is designing today won’t be on the road until 2011 or 2012.

MORE MANAGED CARE!!! YOU IDIOT!!!
fossten on October 15, 2008 at 9:58 PM
McCain needs to spell out what Senator health care would cost if made available to all.
electric-rascal on October 15, 2008 at 9:58 PM
Barry says lower health care costs – but how? He didn’t say how.
dugan on October 15, 2008 at 9:58 PM
Obama stuttering and stammering. So far this poorest of his debate performances and McCain’s best.
diogenes on October 15, 2008 at 9:59 PM
Obama’s very worried that you won’t be able to pay your taxes if you get sick.

ThePrez on October 15, 2008 at 9:59 PM
Oh…and btw…my health care plan is going to cost money.
The Ugly American on October 15, 2008 at 9:59 PM
Hit him on the “pay” rate John, on the “fine.” He’s not entitled to tell people they can keep their coverage if their employers drop them for the public option, and no one knows how many employers will do that if you keep hiding the ball on the “pay” rate.
DrSteve on October 15, 2008 at 9:59 PM
Everybody get’s free healthcare! Exept those who work and pay for it, you’ll still be paying, you’ll just be paying for you and someone else! This is how we Share the Wealth!
Now don’t try to outdo him in stupidity Johnny!

We will do X (which will increase costs), and lower costs.

Would an employer foot the bill to provide insurance coverage to his or her employees if the federal government was providing it?
eaglescout1998 on October 15, 2008 at 9:59 PM
John McCain is clearly winning the debate. John McCain deserves to win the election. John McCain is going to win the election.
Stay focused, John, you are going to need it in the next four years to deal with radical Islam and a resurgent KGB Russia abroad and an angry, at times criminal Left at home.
Phil Byler on October 15, 2008 at 9:59 PM
McCain is kicking bho ass
Colonel_prop on October 15, 2008 at 9:59 PM
Barry is going to negotiate w/ insurance companies the same way that ACORN ‘negotiated’ w/ banks a la CRA.
Over30 on October 15, 2008 at 9:59 PM
Here’s how, “Let it be said. Let it be done.”
Simple.
progressoverpeace on October 15, 2008 at 9:59 PM
Yeah, Barry why don’t you put Hillary in charge of your healthcare plan. And by the way, tell those kids to pack a lunch when they go to their socialist health center. It’ll be a long wait.
anniekc on October 15, 2008 at 10:00 PM
Oh, cut the crapola…
I’m a Federal employee, Barry, and MY healthcare plan isn’t nearly as good as yours. So, which one will Joe Sixpack be eligible for? Mine, or yours?
