Video: Subject of Obama’s “spread the wealth” comment warns of socialism

Oddly enough, he thinks The One plus a filibuster-proof Democratic Congress could mean serious redistribution. Get this man on the phone with Christopher Buckley, stat.

Exit question: Has Team McCain put this guy in an ad yet or are we now relying on Neil Cavuto to do the heavy lifting?

I wish McCain would make a commercial with one of my neighbors- an ENT Dr. from Canada, who says he left Gov’t run medicine in Canada because he was making about the same as a teacher and couldn’t take the bureaucracy and red tape. Says America is insane if they follow suit. Bad for the Dr’s, bad for the patients.

This is the absolute essense of what scares the hell out of conservatives about Obama.
This dude’s a fucking PLUMBER. A PLUMBER. Not Trump. Not a 3rd basemen making 24 million a year. Not an actor at 100 million a movie. A fucking PLUMBER.
What fucking wealth does Obama think this man has that needs to be fucking spread?
And not only that, but spread to folks who are likely not paying taxes now, and probably are not even working.
A fucking plumber.
Holy shit.

Hopefully its already been said, we hold the strings don’t we….tax revenue. Simply changing ones W2 dependents to maximum to cover for all those that vote for Obama should send an all too unsettling message to the Feds…. Nancy, Harry and “special” Barney can you hear me?

dmann on October 14, 2008 at 10:55 PM

What I think of Robin Hood. If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck and looks like a duck. Its a duck. So after saying that, THIEF: a person who steals another person’s property, esp. by stealth (Hidden tax fees, etc, etc.) and without using force or from violence (IRS).

Capedconservative! I saw that tonite, and I was ticked that those people had to feel uncomfortable about saying they were for McCain! Like we’re the evil doers in this world. If I found a charge like that, I’d go postal for sure!

And-

Why do I get moderated for saying “ass” and other posters drag their tongues across the gutter and it still posts? This puzzles me.

sheesh on October 14, 2008 at 11:37 PM

let’s be very honest about these types of income swaps. The government really isn’t Robin Hood who robs from the rich to give to the poor. The government is much more like Fagin from Great Expectations. He says he’s going to take care of the poor orphans, but, in reality, he keeps 90% of the ill gotten gains and gives the orphans thin gruel to survive on. The fact of the matter is, if the American people really wanted to help someone who was not making as much money, they would be better off taking 10% of their pay check, stand on a corner downtown every Friday and throw it into the air. It would be just as randomly as helpful and at least they would know all of it actually went into somebody’s hands to spend directly on themselves or their families.

Obama is suggesting that armed robbery, euphamistically known as “Obama’s tax plan”, is “fair”, “social justice” and “patriotic”. It’s “armed robbery” because Obama is planning to use the power of the state, a power that can ruin your life or put you in jail for failing to comply with federal tax laws, to “redistribute the wealth”.

My friends, that is not only anti-American, that is down right Venezuelan.

Maybe he had a crap job years ago, and went to school at night while working 50 hours a week to support his family and after saving and saving he can afford to buy his very own business– what’s that to you?
So, let me see… the left is for the middle class… so long as we don’t aspire to much of anything, right?

You can make good money as a plumber, but it’s loused up with that journeyman system. You can OJT and become qualified which is nice, but you get paid low wages until you get you’re time in, and become qualified. You have to be 19 when you start this process because that’s the only age you can survive on the chicken scratch they pay you until you make your masters.

True story:
I have a friend that was a successful civil engineer, doing the lead work on (mostly) medium sized government projects all over the country.

He quit to become a small town plumber and makes three times as much as he did as an engineer… And he pays his unskilled -to semi-skilled helpers more than he made as an engineer.

So there is a lot of truth to your joke.

Legend, nice story. A neighbor, who’s just died of cancer, a successful plumbing business owner, wanted to give his business to a nephew, who said that it was “too much work”. He ended up selling it for great money. He’d built it from little, over a lifetime, and he and his teacher lady, and highly intelligent son, lived very well. He was hard-working and extremely decent, a very proud man. Five degrees wouldn’t come close to his caliber.

csdeven, it’s been a hard/long road, and we journeyed together. You’re a great guy, with convictions and courage. You put up with a lot, and let it slide, or fought back, bravely. You’ve made us all tougher. I always knew you’d be back, and with the right mind.

If “cap and trade” is enacted, it will have the same net effect through a different mechanism.

If McCain pulls this thing off, we’re going to have to force a “come to Jesus” moment on him (and Congress) about this, as well as remain steadfast about the border security issue.

All of that said, Obama would be far worse. We would get cap and trade plus welfare resurrected, plus more Big Brother Government intrusion in the economy and in our lives through social engineering and slavery “job creation” programs.

“Senator Obama, how much of other people’s wealth do you mean to psread around”? You say you want to help the guy behind you. Help him do what? Buy another flat screen TV? Who is going to determine what they do with my wealth that you want to spread around? How do I get you to spread some of your wealth to me?”

“If ’spreading wealth’ around is such a good idea, why haven’t you done it on your own already? How much wealth of your own have you spread around? Why not let Americans do it as they wish? Why do you want to force some Americans to work hard so that you can just give their hard-earned money away?”

I was thinking this exchange between Obama and Joe would make a good commercial for McCain…but maybe it would encourage voter turn out for Obama-manics that want a piece of that freebie pie. We can’t win for losing.

Where’s Steve Forbes when you need him? Has he commented on Obama’s reply when Joe commented on a flat tax? Obama said “I would be open to it except here’s the problem with a flat tax is that if you actually put a flat tax together, in order for it to work and replace all the revenue that we’ve got, you’d probably end up having to make it like about a 40% sales tax.” 40%!!!!!! Does this guy know anything about anything? Sheesh.

deedledee on October 15, 2008 at 7:40 AM

How does Mr. Wuerzelbacher ’spread the wealth around’?

He EMPLOYS people who want to WORK for a living.

The government is into handouts, and wealth redistribution, and is at best 65% efficient and at worse it is in the 35-45% range… which means that every buck that goes from the average Joe sees only 35 to 65 cents on the dollar actually going to do something. And Mr. Wuerzelbacher takes average pay, re-invests in his company, expands its services and EMPLOYS PEOPLE. That is a much better return on my social investment than government… since it is people like him who employ most of the people in the Nation, not the big companies.

Somehow ’spreading the wealth around’ means making the middle class poor, the poor dependent on government. Nope, I’ll take the plumber from Ohio over the erudite understanding of Sen. Obama’s nonsense any day. At least Mr. Wuerzelbacher works for a living.

ajacksonian on October 15, 2008 at 7:57 AM

The distribution of wealth is not all that’s changing. Jesse Jackson appears to have let the cat out of the bag on the future of our long time close relationship with Israel.

Say goodbye to a once great Republic.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Extracted from “Little Green Footballs”:

Jesse says Barack Obama is going to really change things in America.
PREPARE for a new America: That’s the message that the Rev. Jesse Jackson conveyed to participants in the first World Policy Forum, held at this French lakeside resort last week.
He promised “fundamental changes” in US foreign policy – saying America must “heal wounds” it has caused to other nations, revive its alliances and apologize for the “arrogance of the Bush administration.”
The most important change would occur in the Middle East, where “decades of putting Israel’s interests first” would end.
Jackson believes that, although “Zionists who have controlled American policy for decades” remain strong, they’ll lose a great deal of their clout when Barack Obama enters the White House.
“Obama is about change,” Jackson told me in a wide-ranging conversation. “And the change that Obama promises is not limited to what we do in America itself. It is a change of the way America looks at the world and its place in it.”

deedledee on October 15, 2008 at 7:40 AM

Yeah, unfortunately he does. Obama knows that if all the sneakier taxes and fees were eliminated, that they’d have to take it all in one big obvious chunk, and that just wouldn’t fly. He knows most of us are already paying 40% or more of our income, and that the government having to extract all of it from one place would be way too apparent to the taxpayers and would cause a revolt. He talks about “all the revenue that would have to be raised” – he means “to match the revenue we take in now and add enough for my socialist programs” would mean a 40% rate. He admitted how much he thinks the government “needs”: 40% of everything we earn and spend.

And, by the way, he has no problem with rich people paying 40%. He just wouldn’t ever allow poor people to have to spend 40% of their income on taxes. ‘Cause then he knows for sure there’d be a revolution.

Franklyn on October 15, 2008 at 1:48 AM

Yes, Obama is a globalist, too. He doesn’t think it’s fair or right that we Americans control such a large portion of the world’s wealth and resources. I wonder what the American poor who elect him will think when he tells them that people like his brother all over the world are living on $12 a year, and that our “poor” – most of whom have cable television, air conditioning, and cell phones – are extremely wealthy in comparison and must start giving some of their wealth to truly impoverished 3rd-worlders. It’s patriotic.

It could happen once Dems have raised the taxes of America’s producers so much that they leave the country. Then all that will be left to pay the incredibly high taxes will be the middle class and the poor. Dems will finally have to ask that bottom 30% to chip in once they drive away the 3% rich who have been carrying 97% of the tax burden all this time.

Though, I guess when you’re loosing, blowing things out of proportion is okay.
PresidenToor on October 14, 2008 at 11:33 PM

As a “business” owner, I will explain, in the simplest terms I can, how this has nothing to do with plumbing.

(I’ve put all the key words that you’re probably unfamiliar with in quotes so you can look them up later.)

Watch the video again then come back here.

Now, note how the plumber states he is buying a plumbing “business”?

Hear how he says he wants to “grow the business”?

One way to grow a business is by making “profits”.

With profits he will buy more trucks.

He will also have to buy more tools to equip those trucks.

Buying trucks and tools helps to “increase the bottom line” for the companies that sell trucks and tools – companies run by people who also want to grow their own businesses.

He now has to hire people to drive the new trucks and use the new tools.

The newly hired people are “gainfully employed” and now have “disposable income” they spend at even more companies that want to grow by making profits.

This is called “capitalism”.

America is a “capitalistic society”.

Capitalism is what makes America the strongest most powerful country in the world.

Now, did you hear what Obama says to the potential “business owner?

He says he wants to tax the business owner’s profits even more than the already are.

He says he wants to “spread the wealth” by taking the profits that the business owner would use to grow his business.

He infers that he wants to give the profits to people that he thinks are more deserving of tham the business owner who worked hard specifically to make the profits.

What will happen if Obama’s policies go into effect?

The company will not grow because its profits are limited.

The business owner does not buy new trucks and tools.

The businesses that sell trucks and tools don’t grow. Some even go “bankrupt”.

The people who could have been hired and have disposable income now join the other out of work people from the bankrupt companies and all receive “subsistence level” welfare from the government.

This is called “socialism”.

Where would you rather live? In a county that encourages “entrepreneurs” to start and grow their companies?

Or in a country that that discourages entrepreneurs?

Rod on October 15, 2008 at 10:01 AM

This is at the heart of why he was allowed to quit. The man’s either a liar or an idiot who’s been hoodwinked (it goes both ways) by a sweet talking man with two books and a Harvard degree.

I think when you spread the wealth around, it’s good for everybody.

Barack Hussein Obama video talking to plumber about spreading the wealth around. (Skip ahead to 38 seconds.)

Mr. Wurzelbacher is a true hard-working American. Kudos to him.

But what we really need is for Wurzelbacher to step down from his business and RUN FOR OFFICE! He’s got a common sense that is all too often lacking in the halls of Congress. I’ll run his campaign. Heck, I know some guys in Ohio with money and connections who can get the ball rolling.

Wurzelbacher for Congress in 2010!

Obama wants to grow the middle class. He will grow it-from people who have assets (small business owners-the backbone so far of America)but no $$.
Obama will siphon off & suck dry productive people to redistribute their assets to others. The ‘others’ are a voting block of uneducated/ignorant/don’t care voters who will be the ruination of our city on a hill.
They like their govt teat & don’t want to see it slip away.

RE: Obama as Robin Hood

As I just finished writing on my blog, before seeing the Robin Hood comments here, you can’t use the Sheriff of Nottingham’s abuse of government power to achieve the aims of Robin Hood. That’s Socialism with a capital ‘S’.

Obviously, it is not original for me to state that the winner of this evening’s debate has to be “Joe the Plumber”. Talk about getting an hour and a half of free publicity!

Seriously though, who won between McCain and Obama? On points, I would have to say McCain. He did what everyone said he had to do. He had to be aggressive and hit Obama hard on William Ayres and ACORN. After missing a couple of openings, he finally did that and put Obama on the defense having to explain his relationship with the ex-Weatherunderground bomber and ACORN, who McCain categorized correctly as about to pull off the biggest election fraud in our history. McCain was also able to point out that the Obama campaign had diverted $832,000 to ACORN. (Obama did not address that.)

I thought McCain had his best debate tonight, though Obama was what he has been throughout-cool, calm and collected. Did McCain score a knockout tonight? Not in my view, but we must wait for the “all-important” polls to tell us if McCain shifted the numbers.

According to some of the pundits, one line that may come out of this debate was when McCain told Obama that he (McCain) was not President Bush. That may resonate with voters.

McCain also made note of some of Obama’s rhetorical tricks, such as when he referred to “health of the mother” in allowing partial-birth abortions-a loophole big enough to drive a truck through. McCain also pointed out Obama’s mention of “taking a look at off-shore drilling”-not exactly a commitment to actually engage in off-shore drilling.

I also liked McCain’s defense of the trade pact with Colombia while Obama defended his opposition by referring to the Colombian union leaders who had been “mistreated” (my word-my quotes)in Colombia.

One issue that I would have liked to see addressed tonight was illegal immigration. Unfortunately, it was not. It is, after all, a major issue facing our nation. With all the fuss about our economy, illegal immigration remains a factor.

I wonder what “Joe the Plumber” would have said.
