Video: Kathleen Parker on Colbert

We’re creeping up on 300 comments in the Buckley thread so let’s keep the “National Review apostates” party going. Here she is, the ‘Cuda’s bete noire, kinda sorta hinting near the end that she’s prepared to pull the lever for The One this November. I think Iowahawk speaks for all of us when he says: It’s time for civility.

Foul elitist bitch. Any one want to bet her social circle is almost all liberals?
peacenprosperity on October 14, 2008 at 5:54 PM
Why in God’s name are women and liberals so upset with her?
I had one Democrat tell me last night that he was on the fence for McCain or Obama until Palin.
“Why?”
“Well because she’s just clueless. She says nothing more than conservative Christian talking points.”
“Have you actually listened to what she’s said?”
“No, but I read her quotes in the paper.”
“Do you believe everything you read in the paper about Obama?”
“No.”
“But you do about Palin?”
“Well she’s just inexperienced and new so there’s not much about her to go on.”

I am proud to say I have never paid the slightest attention to Colbert or Parker.

Unbelievable. “Did you make a mistake”

Seriously, are all women jealous of more attractive women?
Spirit of 1776 on October 14, 2008 at 5:56 PM
Again, why would these disenfranchised “conservatives” vote for Obama and not Barr or Baldwin?
lodge on October 14, 2008 at 5:56 PM
I read her recent book “Saving the Males”. I actually agreed with her on 80%+ of it regarding how American culture has been gradually detroying manhood and how it is leading to all the other problems we are having.
However, like Robert Duvall said, you don’t play Monday morning quarterback during the big game on Sunday with your team in a presidential campaign.
The book of course still made it to the trash today along with Noonan’s very very light book on John Paul II.
We should spank this elitist good not to hurt her but as a loving parent spanks a child because they love their child and are trying to teach them good behavior.
Sapwolf on October 14, 2008 at 5:57 PM
It’s not that anyone is demanding a religious-like devotion to this ticket, lord knows conservatives should be skeptical of McCain and Palin. But damn, how can you principally pull the lever for a leftist when you know you’ll be handing the two law making branches of the government over to rabid liberalism.
Advocate for Barr, advocate people to stay home, andything but Obama. Simple political contrarianism betrays a lack of principal on both her, and Buckley’s part.

I’ll be honest. This is insane. It was one thing to go and write a series of weak columns, but to go on liberal shows and trivialize her by her hair, calling her ignorant, and then saying “bubba” loves it, I’m pissed off actually. And I’m a level-headed guy.
I need Ace to write up a rant on his blog so it’ll purge it out of my system.
Spirit of 1776 on October 14, 2008 at 6:03 PM
What I don’t get about these “elite” conservatives (Parker, Brooks, Chris Buckley, etc.) is that while they are all uptight about “risking” the nation to a Palin presidency, so much so that they have gone apostate, they seem positively giddy about the “exciting, unknown change” that a full-blown Socialist will bring.
Are they really just media whores? Culture junkies? Selfish nihilists who just want to see change for change’s sake?
Hannibal Smith on October 14, 2008 at 6:04 PM

Esthier on October 14, 2008 at 6:04 PM
What a twit. Kathleen Parker’s disdain for Sarah Palin seems to be more based on envy than any other reason. The fact that she is going on Colbert to spread her message of disgust for Palin shows more about Kathleen Parker’s desire for her opinions to be spread to the left.
I guess she wants to get invited to the fancy parties in the new Obama era. What a disappointment to see what really lived behind that “conservative” facade.

O.K., so she’s a nasty bit*h. No surprise there, but what I am becoming more and more suspicious of is that SOME, not all, but more than you’de think, of these “turncoat brown-noser’s” are just blowing smoke out their arses. They aren’t going to vote Obama any more than I am! They’re just too worried about their “popularity” and they don’t want to look racist and uncool to their peers. You don’t change a lifetime of beliefs to put a fool like Obama in office just because you’re bent out of shape about Sarah Palin.
If she actually IS that shallow, she needs to go the way of that Buckley chap. Don’t let the screen door hit you, Toots. I’m not buying that we have THAT many dipsticks in America that aren’t “getting” what Obama is.
If I wasn’t self-employed, I might be tempted to lie about my opinions too, people are getting C.R.A.Z.Y. this year!

The shock that someone from the “outside” could actually make it, scares them.
Imagine, someone that doesn’t drink their wine, someone that doesn’t eat at their restaurants, someone who actually cares for their kids, someone (God forbid) actually sits in the stands and watches their kids play ball, someone who is not an attorney, someone married to a blue-collar man, not from a elitists school…they can’t imagine such a travesty of their elitism, they can’t imagine someone they have to communicate with who really loves living the “country” life…it is beyond them, like a liberal looking at someone praying and going to church, it is beyond their concept of a politician, they have never seen such a thing.

The only thing missing from Kathleen Parker was a Huffington accent. Is she so stupid that she would vote for a socialist terrorist-befriending surrenderist just because of her opinion of Gov. Palin’s qualifications? Her conservative bona fides are in doubt.

Theworldisnotenough on October 14, 2008 at 6:17 PM
I’m going to toss a thought out here; (I don’t know where else to toss it)
What do you think would happen if during the debate, McCain came out and said he was only going to stay in office one term- that he wanted to devote all his time to cleaning up Bush’s messes and then in 4 years, when Obama and Palin had more experience under their belts they could run again. You can alter the facts to fit your ideas, but I wonder if some people wouldn’t find that a decent idea.

TheBigOldDog on October 14, 2008 at 6:22 PM
Princess Di was widow dressing for a future king. Much like someone picks out clothing for a ball. These conservative sluts like to play the dress up game in order to attract men.
Palin doesn’t play that game because she doesn’t have to. She is naturally beautiful and accomplished, and she has sucked all the focus on conservative women out of the room. She is much like the new girl at school who comes out of nowhere and becomes prom queen and effectively banishes Parker, Noonan and the rest to wall flower status after they bought new dresses and got all dolled up.
They are simply catty sluts who have been shown up by someone they think they are superior to.
csdeven on October 14, 2008 at 6:23 PM
I know, I know… I pointed that out and he kinda stammered and I let it drop. It was obvious he couldn’t rationally reconcile that but that’s not important. What’s important is she’s RELIGIOUS and therefore must be wrong and can’t possibly be intelligent. Bigotry 101. I wonder how much farther down the leftists will throw their ideology for power.

Truly a low moment for parker – who hardly with a stellar record of accomplishment herself. Obama was in the Senate for 143 days (very short legislative history by ANY standard) before announcing his run for President and we can’t talk about Bill Ayers who gave Obama 100 million to run the Annenberg Project or Rev. Wright who baptized Obama’s children and was his pastor for 20 years or Tony Rezko who recruited Obama nearly 20 years ago when Obama was in law school and sold Obama his house below market value or Raila Odinga, the current Prime Minister of Kenya and Obama’s cousin who wants to impose Sharia law in Kenya.
For goodness sakes, Ms. Parker, I know you get MSM love for questioning Gov. Palin’s qualifications for VP, but may I ask on what basis are you endorsing OBAMA’S qualifications to be POTUS??????
Sucking up to Colbert is weak. I tired of parker’s lukewarm conservative mommy tripe years ago.

She pretty much walks the walk and believes in what she says…look at her record. Look at Obama’s record…

He agreed that they’re jealous, not stupid. Women are more likely to hate a woman cause she’s pretty, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they’ll be wrong.
A good friend who was a co-worker at the time did that with another co-worker. Most times she seemed completely unreasonable, but in the end, it turned out she was right, that this girl had gotten her job by trading on her looks and flattering the boss.

…that Ivory Tower must be quite a place…all the best people are there….
…but it must getting a bit…well…sweatty, being as crowded as it must be by now…sort of locker-room-y…you know…that damp, sharp, sour communal towel smell….
What is Ms. Parker’s objection, really? Sarah’s not slick enough…she’s just a common citizen who’s somehow gotten through….
…Obama, on the other hand, has Ivy League credentials…he’s smooth on TV…the fact that he’s morally bankrupt, that his minions use intimidation and legions of legal goons…and that he seems to feel entitled to the top spot doesn’t seem to register with Ms. P….
…I guess that around National Review the old saying just isn’t true…every boy (or gir) just can’t grow up to be president…you have to be groomed…there’s a certain amount of resume building and ring kissing involved….
…then again, if conservatism is just a theory, and citizens are just cyphers, who cares?

RushBaby on October 14, 2008 at 6:37 PM
She’s a far quicker study than her opponent, Barack Obama.
What we have figured out from this race is that the more articulate a speaker is, the more you have to parse every word for “nuance”.
We’ve watched Mrs. Palin speak, and she has not had to take back a single plain word she’s said. Every time CNN calls what she had to say false, we learn later it’s true. Terrorists — plural. Ayers, Doehrn. “Bush Doctrine”. She addresses one of the many, and her words are redacted from the video, making her seem like a dummy.
How many politicians say exactly what they mean, and do exactly what they say? Palin’s in that group.
Where’s Obama in all this? Friend of Israel — NOT. Three fingers pointing back as he blames McCain for the country’s economic ills. Rezko, his next door neighbor and the guy who bankrolled his political career — cops a plea. This isn’t Jesus surrounded by sinners — this a crook surrounded by other crooks! The man who would have everyone’s vote count buys off a registrar and gets all of his opponents disqualified because people signed their names using block letters, or a signer used her maiden name!
No civility here. I can’t put a bumper sticker supporting my candidate on my car because I’m afraid of what will happen to my car — or me! But when I go to the polls at the end of the month, I’ll vote my conscience, win or lose.
And I hope I win.
unclesmrgol on October 14, 2008 at 6:37 PM
I’m just joking around.
Parker is committed to her distaste that she coaches in whatever terms she can find. Hair, clothes, speech, etc, all the time not realizing she’s the simple one.
No woman should be judged simply because of Kathleen Parker’s absurd behavior. Parker just embarrasses herself.
