I don’t believe this for one second. Hopper recently denounced George Will for defeatism calling him a nerd. Hopper also appeared in the film An American Carol.

Normally, I’d ignore “literally” abuse, but shouldn’t a Buckley know better?

Between this goof, KParker the jealous and cranky David Frum, the staff meetings at NR must have been bizarre. Feeling a bit of sympathy here for the 3 Marks, Yuval Levin and Jay Nordlinger.

I’m not delusional enough to think I’ll change anyone’s opinion but I sharpen and refine my own views because they’re often rigorously challenged here.

I think his point was that it’s nearly impossible to be a small government conservative anymore (”it’s all water under the bridge”) considering the fact that a supposed conservative ran up the debt so much, so he’d rather vote based on intellect and temperment. Let’s face it, Obama is the clear winner based on those criteria.

Obama is certainly the smartest man in all 57 states.

Though, I will say it took a lack of class temperment to flip off Hillary Clinton at one of his rallies. Hopefully our youth can learn from his high minded example.

This is what a lot of real Conservatives wanted. Fish or cut bait. Buckley decided to cut bait with Noonan and the other wine and cheese conservatives. Let the purge begin and the return to true Reagan Conservatism.

Let’s just never forget who stood with us and who thought the kitchen was getting a little too hot.

Thirdly, this blog has been trending left in its content. Especially with Palin, there’s more vitriol towards her here then at some lefty sites. Sometimes I can come here and the content is indistinguishable from DKos.

Maybe I am more of Pat Buchanan/Ron Paul type of conservative. As far as Reagan goes, I generally have a very positive impression of him, but I’ll need to research him in more detail before I can comment confidently on his foreign policies. I was too young (born in ’85) to observe him closely. But as far as I know, Reagan never started any preemptive wars like Bush did. I would be fine with a realist stance on foreign policy, as opposed to the GOP’s current idealist stance.

And yes, I am afraid that an Obama administraion would have a fascist streak. I would rather have McCain/Palin win, but that seems less and less likely. So, I’m just trying to look on the bright side; maybe the next 4 years can be an opportunity for the true conservatives to take control of the GOP again. Regardless of who wins, I want the GOP to experience a makeover. And, sometimes, you need 4 years of Carter to get 8 years of Reagan. Likewise, I’m hoping 4 years of Obama will lead us to 8 years of Palin/Jindal.

And just for the record, I’m not against intervationalist foreign policies because I’m a pacifist pussy (like many on the Left). I just think Bush’s foreign policy approach has been too impractical and too costly. Bush has not done much for the conservative movement. So far, he has only pleased the neoconservatives, whom I don’t consider to be real conservatives.

Also, I’m not a truther (like some Ron Paul supporters are).

It’s not the grandfather’s responsibility to support him. And I’m not sure if he treated his other grandchildren, assuming he had any, the same way. Regardless, it’s not very nice.

I couldn’t get thru the whole clip. This saddens me greatly. I read NR cover to cover every month. I have enjoyed reading Christopher’s articles, my favorite was the one he wrote in the tribute issue to his Dad after his death.

You have posted this in several different threads this evening. It is as offensive now as it was when I saw it in the other thread. I am sure it sends a tingle up your leg to offend people, but I find it contemptible and low.

In the meantime Obama has been perfectly calm and purposeful. The guy is constitutionally incapable of making an impulsive move.
