I was very disappointed in the comments I read there. There were one or two that I spoke to that I disagree with vehemently, but were rational in their defense of Obama. What I found interesting was that the deeper we got into the subject of Obama's wealth re-distribution policies, the less informed they were.

When we got to the point when I explained that under Obama's 250K tax plan, those who were under that punitive tax would be working the exact same amount to make essentially much less money. I pointed out that situation was exactly what the white land owners did to black share croppers. The share cropper worked just as hard as the next guy, but the elitists got a huge share of their profits. They never had a response for that. It's clear that conservatives want everyone to make money to keep and spend as they wish, and the dems policies, whether by design or accident, has the exact opposite effect. It keeps everyone, including blacks, beholding to the government for their sustenance and limits their ability to better themselves because there is less opportunity.

I imagine a day when there is so much economic growth, that every business will be clamoring for employees. Even to the point where the supply of workers is less than the need, and the rule of supply/demand raises competition for those limited workers and thus driving up wages and opportunity.

Excellent comment you left there baldilocks.

I have gotten my share of grief for publicly stating I was voting for McCain, but nothing like this poor guy.

I really think a lot of blacks suffer from a kind of Stockholm Syndrome, once or twice removed of course, because none were alive during slavery and many weren't even alive during jim crow. But what I mean is, instead of reacting to white racism, by following Kings advice about character and equal treatment, etc...many blacks have just mimicked what white racists used to do and how they felt about blacks. Instead of starting magazines and organizations that included everyone, we started all black everything, and that really was just mimicking the racism of whites, only substituting the color black. We have just substituted black supremacy for white supremacy, but alas, many of us just don't really see that that's what it is. I think we are blowing/have blown a good opportunity since the civil rights movement, to show the world how things should be done, by not doing things based on race as white racists used to do. It really comes down to something every mother taught their child--two wrongs don't make a right. For us to repeat or perpetuate behavior that was done to us or our ancestors at some point, is not the right thing to do. And it's not the way to stop it from happening in the future. It's just creating a never ending cycle.

Here's what I wrote in the comments:

It's interesting that those like Yvonne would use slavery terminology to describe Mr. Harris and his actions. This is because the slave (Yvonne) does not know what it's like to be free to vote for the person who best represents the principles and values which one personally holds. Slaves would rather vote for the person who will "do something for us" as a parent would--or as a slave master would.

Slaves hate the man who has freed himself and sling epithets at him. Why? Jealousy and fear. Slaves who don't have the guts to free themselves are to be pitied.

These days no guns are required to keep the slaves in chains. The mental chains clamped on by President Johnson, etc. forty-five years ago are more pernicious than the physical ones ever were--so pernicious that blacks would clamp them on each other or threaten those who refuse them.

Don't hate man because he is free. Free yourself.

Just a little perspective: Essence is a black woman's beauty mag which I stopped taking in my mid-thirties because it became incredibly boring or I began to grow up or both (I'm 47 now.) So keep in mind the mentality of the average Essence reader. That said, the response of the black Democrats there is representative of that group--color before principle. Or rather, color as principle. :-(

I said, “We have one debate left, and we have a few weeks left; I am begging you take it to Obama!” That was the context. Not “Massa, please. Massa, please.” That wasn’t it.

Ugh. It makes my blood boil that he had to say that. That's not how it sounded at all.

Bush has been the disaster everyone who saw through him thought he would be.

I would say that Bush has become the disaster that we Republicans have allowed the media and the Democrats to characterize him as. With all due respect, he has been a God-send to this country in the war effort. Neither Gore, nor Kerry nor Senator McCain would have stood up to the terrorists the way President Bush has. We have lost service members; some very good friends of mine. The war was not fought perfectly, but I believe a lot of our enemies successes can be attributed to liberal Democrats demonstrating that we were split politically over the war. They as much told them to fight on with their disloyal behavior in opposing the administration nearly every step of the way. And the economy was doing pretty damn good until 2 years ago when Rep Pelosi took over. And there's plenty of blame to go around for Katrina. Not the least of which, Mayor Nagin and Governor Blanco. President Bush of course being the only person big enough to accept his short-comings and apologizing to the folks in the Gulf region. Mr. Bush was not perfect. No President ever is. But we will never get anywhere buy buying into the MSMs version of the last eight years. I am in completely for Senator McCain and Governor Palin. I just wish as we throw our support completely behind these two great Americans, we also remember the great things that President Bush has done also.

Esthier, I feel your pain. I honestly think McCain is too old. I sure wish we had nominated him instead of W in 2000 when he was still young and vigorous. I voted for him in the primary against W. Bush has been the disaster everyone who saw through him thought he would be. But that doesn't mean we have to support McCain unconditionally now. Right now I'm holding my nose and voting for him, especially because my vote really does matter here in PA. But I hate the campaign he has run.

I go back and forth about what we are really in for if Obama wins. I don't see the kind of Stalinist regime being ushered in that many on the Right fear. I think we have an excellent chance of Pelosi and Reid overreaching and the economy really being a quagmire for the next 2 years. They'll try to blame Bush for it all, but I think the country will get tired of that very quickly. I think Obama will be another Jimmy Carter, not another FDR.

I just came back from Mr. Harris's site. I couldn't believe some of the comments people left for him. If you can drop by and give him a note of encouragement I'm sure it would mean a lot.

In your gut, who do you think is going to win?
HARRIS: John McCain. And, oh Lord, Lord, Lord, if that happens! As much as the followers of Obama are invested in this thing, it’s going to make Bush Derangement Syndrome look like a cold.

I'll be honest. I don't know if I can take any more of it. Part of me wants McCain to lose for that reason alone. Eight years is enough.

On the plus side, I don't really like McCain that much anyway, but they push too far and aren't even ashamed of themselves. We see how far they've gone in eight years. What will they have done in 12? Or 16?

Every four years we have a mini-revolution at the polls, and it calms people down enough that we don't have full blown revolutions. But if these moonbats don't see any mini-revolutions in their favor for over a decade, I wonder how long that will be true.

If only Obama wasn't such a socialist.

63% of the people who voted on the poll attached to the article believe Mr. Harris is a “sell out”, i.e. because he is black and does not support The One, he is a sell out to his race. Therefore, I must conclude that black Americans do not believe they can think for themselves but are obligated to follow any and all black leaders. And they think we’re racist.

Willie on October 15, 2008 at 9:29 AM
I have lived my entire life with the knowledge that whites are bad and that even the thought of white pride is a vile and racist one. On the other hand Black pride and black people are wonderful and righteous. Their historic culture is better and their views are better and they can not be racists.
Where does this view come from? Is it because of Hitler? It can’t be because of slavery. Slavery was known and excepted the world over and the most powerful and richest slavers were black. I really don’t fully understand when and were the white equals evil came from.

I guess it still has not dawned on most of America. The entire reason why Howard Dean and the DNC shoved Barack Obama down the throats of the Democratic Party and stole the nomination from Hillary Clinton is BECAUSE HE IS BLACK. They have read the returns from the last two elections and they know they cannot win one without close to 100% black turnout. Don't believe all this BS about America turning Left and the end of conservatism, blah blah blah. This is still very much a center-right country, but it includes a sizable black population that is almost entirely race-loyal above all else. Democrats know this. They cannot get a majority any other way.

It's the most cynical campaign ever run in a democratic country.

Who needs jobs when we’ve got Barack… Si se puede!

Texas Rainmaker on October 15, 2008 at 1:50 AM

I keep telling my wife that. I tell her I’m not as worried about my lack of gainful employment because when BO gets in we should be all set because I just can’t imagine that the dems will not extend unemployment or protect us from losing the house. The old saying goes that a conservative is a liberal that got mugged. Will a liberal just may be an aged middle class conservative that got downsized and can’t find another good paying job because of his age.

I think it's only fair that someone with an opinion, be judged not by the color of their skin, but the content of their character.

Oh yeah, I just made that up.

I have a black female friend who is super successful, as is her husband, who is also black. They definitely meet the $250K mark EACH. They are also very religious and socially conservative. Yet, they are voting for BO. I ask why and they will admit that they are voting for him b/c he's black. Regardless of the fact that their taxes will go through the roof and their conservative values will be trod upon by BO, they are voting for him anyway.

HARRIS: I’ve heard from Americans of African descent, scattered across the fruited plain, to the tune of about 1,000 or more. I’d say 99 percent of it has been straight up hate on a level that I find a bit overwhelming. They’re coming through my blog, Facebook, e-mail and my business site.

Yes, the party of tolerance indeed.

Thank you for that link, christene. That was a very telling article. Mrs. Obama as much as said that Obama has no right to the Office of President.
