“There is no black America, there is no white America…”

~Barack Obama, 2004 Keynote address to the democratic national convention

This guy was on a local show in Madison today and he knows his stuff. I can see him becoming a national figure before too long.

BadgerHawk on October 14, 2008 at 10:44 PM

I’m glad that conservative minorities with consciences are fighting back. Lord knows that as a gay guy, I’ve received my fair share of browbeating from the Obamacans.

Suffice to say, I have total empathy for people like Harris.

For anyone who’s interested, check out PUMA blog Sugar n’ Spice. An African-American female PUMA who also has received a lot of crap for not supporting “The One.”

Keep up the good work, James. If growth and opportunity wins, we all win. If the static view and the punishment of success wins, we all lose everything.

We all still have to live in this world after the big fun party you’ll have on election day. The guy in charge still has to be competant to run the country, There’s more involved here than getting your own seal and gold coin!

The shortsightedness is breathtaking.

I think we all should shake up his hatemail ratio to the good side as best we can. He said it was running 12 “hate-your-guts” to 1 “good job”?

He deserves better than that. Fire a “way-to-go” off to him.

Everyone here go vote at the end of the article. The ones who think this curageous man is a sellout are out in droves. Do your part!!!

John McCain. And, oh Lord, Lord, Lord, if that happens! As much as the followers of Obama are invested in this thing, it’s going to make Bush Derangement Syndrome look like a cold. There’s going to be severe backlash; people are going to lose their minds. Black people are going to say, “Voter suppression, voter fraud.” With the allegiance and almost worship of Barack Obama, I think if he loses it’s going to be very ugly.

As much as I don’t want to work so much if Obama wins, if McCain wins, I’d like to manage a psycho clinic. That w/b the ultimate political dream.

It was 66/33 when I looked and I am surprised. I understand that not undoubtedly all the voters are black. Still, it makes me wonder. The number of minorities that have become upwardly mobile has increased. I know they aren’t big believers in abortion and gay marriage. Given that they might be also concerned about their taxes, I wonder how many will secretly pull the lever for McCain. Exit polls would never show it because they probably wouldn’t admit it, but still, I wonder.

You know- this is all so insulting to blacks. When they declare across the board that ALL black are voting for Obama, it’s like they’re saying, “You’re too stupid to think for yourself and judge the candidates by their contribution to America, you’re just going to vote for the black guy”

And if we’re going to use that kind of logic, I’m voting for McCain because he has 4 dogs and Obama has none. I don’t trust people who don’t love dogs.

I just can’t get over the middle 20% seeing this hatred and still concluding that Obama is the way to go. Maybe the answer is that they aren’t seeing it.

McCain has nothing to lose. I think he has to say that in light of what he’s seen in the past week, Obama really is dangerous–Acorn, the disgraceful treatment of Hillary and Ferraro in the primaries, even worse for Palin.

All of us and McCain need to take a stand against being bullied and intimidated. This could be the last election in which we can make a difference. McCain needs to say things about the Fairness Doctrine and the like. We’re done talking about national security, and we’ve talked about domestic issues too. Time to flesh out some cultural matters.

Let’s hope that McCain and we demonstrate the same amout of

Ick. Essence and magazines like it make me want to gag. I will never understand people who buy magazines, watch tv networks, join clubs, etc that are based on their particular skin tone. Of course, as has been mentioned too many times, if there was a white magazine for white people, there’d be riots in the street. Creating a ghetto to insulate yourself from other skin toned people is absurd, stupid, racial (if not partially racist), and unamerican if you ask me.

I listen to James’ radio show regularly here on WTMJ. He is a funny, lively, provocative, and eminently decent man. He SO does not deserve what he has been going through! He has been laughing, in a bemused and astonished way, at how over-the-top the reaction has been — that’s his way. But it clearly has gone way beyond being funny. Worst of all are the threats against his family.

A while back he told a story on his show that I found both amusing and illuminating. When he first started teaching high school some years back, he was dismayed by the tension and de facto separation between the black and white students. A lot of the black kids were wearing t-shirts with the slogan “It’s a black thang.” To show his disapproval in a creative way, James had a t-shirt made that read, “It’s a white thang.” When he wore it to school, it caused a huge — and angry — sensation. After a couple of hours, the principal was begging him to take off the shirt, but James refused. He was making a point. The guy has got guts. A pitbull with a smile and a laugh.

Somewhere between 10% or 5% of the African-American vote is going to vote for McCain. It will probably be less than for Bush, but regardless that is no different than any other election between a Republican and a Democrat. In other words, about the same amount of African-Americans are going to side with Democrats as they have in years past.

What has changed for some of us is seeing the unrestricted, pure, solid hatred for Whites. When I saw the Reverend J. Wright videos, read the Trumpet and heard the statements of Michelle Obama, I was blown away. I then read her thesis and began to look at Obama very closely in how he thought about White people. “White man’s greed” pretty much summed it up for me, and you can add a lot more that he has said that is anti-White.

I believe for those of us in the South, we did not know the level to which we were still resented. I can honestly say that most of us have spent our lifetimes trying our dead level best to be the opposite of what most have stereo-typed us to be. We heard Blacks call in to our local Black radio talk show Conservative host, and say the most hateful things about Whites. We had no clue as to what they were talking about. We had never seen or heard any of our family or friends act in such a way towards Black people. But mostly they were still mad about slavery. No kidding.

But the hate is there, and it is not just limited to the South. It is apparent that Blacks are very angry with us. In some cases I think they have a case in that Republicans have failed to properly reach out to Blacks in explaining our ideology, and how we are NOT what Democrats describe us to be. In my region of the country there is not enough unity to address gang violence, drop out rates, abortion rates and other issues the Black community is going through. And I am not speaking of government programs; I am talking about real people doing real work and making a larger real impact. Black on Black violence in Jackson is very high. So, I can see where there are legitimate complaints and disagreements. However, the level of sheer hatred is not justifiable.

Lastly, for those that want to claim Blacks are acting like the Klan, I would suggest you wait before asserting that type of description. I find it rather offensive. I can only imagine the first time Blacks went to a movie and for the first time it was about a story they identified with or had all Black actors. Can you imagine how even commercials did not have one Black in it? They bought milk, cars, appliances and detergent just like the rest of America. I sort of see their enthusiasm for Barak as being a concept along those lines. For the first time there is someone that looks like them that really has a shot at being President. It is the excitement, the possibility that draws some in. It is why some Conservative Blacks were considering voting for Barak.

With that being said, I also have heard Blacks say they wanted to kill the supporters of McCain. It was on Politico. And if you go to other Lefty sites you will read some of the scariest stuff from people saying they are Black and want their justice against Whitey, just like Rev. J. Wright and his ilk. I feel for James because those people are zeroing in on him as well as those of us that support McCain/Palin.

I have no idea what the answer is, but I will suggest this; if you are feeling hatred towards Blacks then Obama has won. He wants us divided because divided he can conquer us more easily. We are Americans, all of us together, and we have fought and died next to each other. We need each other, and will surely fall together if Obama manages to alienate us from each other. He must not be allowed to win on this point even if he wins the Presidency. He must not turn us into racist!

Hating people because of their color is wrong. And it doesn’t matter which color does the hating. It’s just plain wrong.

Did y’all see the poll at the bottom of the article?

Do you think James Harris is a sell out?

Yes
67 %
No
32 %

Consider those 32%. They are the conservatives; they might vote for Obama, but they recognize the legitimacy of dissent. There is hope. That’s lower case, with no trademark symbol.

67% of people who voted for that poll are brain dead morons, huh? Interesting. I didn’t zombies had internet access to begin with.

Obama has done nothing to stop or quell any of it.

I’d like to see this man with a nationally syndicated show.

I just spent an hour on the “Essence” blog discussing Mr Harris with several folks.

There are some seriously disturbed socialists over there. One gal even said that Obama had a historic role to play and that would be part of her decision to vote for him.

Historic is right! The first black man with a chance to be president and he’s a frappin socialist! Obama’s “spread the wealth” tax will effectively have people working harder for less money. Sounds like what “massa” use to do.

I guess I see your point, but on the other hand, in 2008 “white” America owes nothing to anyone. What happened to “We are all the same?” I think that went out the door when all Americans had to be part of a program called affirmative action, while still told “We are all the same”. Now we see channels like B.E.T,The One, Ebony Awards, Ebony magazine, Black History month, etc,..mean while we are still hearing “We are all the same”. This election has opened the eyes of many, I think some of us are seeing that “we are all the same” was meant to fall on the ears of “White” America only….. how sad that is because we are truly all the same,..we are all children of GOD!

In case y’all missed it there is a serious post over at NRO by Kurtz which goes along ways toward explaining this. It’s the one about ‘Afro-centric’ education, Ayers, Wright, the whole enchilada.

I have said that Obama is going to be a burden to Black America (a term I hate to use, but for lack of a better phrase…) if he becomes President.

It is something they will have to identify with for a long time, while many have nothing in common with him at all.

It may be the catalyst, though, that breaks the chains and send many of them running toward conservatism (where they were all along, but just did not have the epiphany yet).

Saltysam on October 15, 2008 at 1:12 AM

Mr. Harris may well be the “Paul Revere” of the McCain campaign.

Uninvited but given ear.

Unexpected but respected.

Not “needed” but heeded.

Barely known but widely published.

“Keep it up Mr. Harris.”

WOW!…Shocking development: Mrs Obama decides enough is enough: “My husband was born in Hawaii and adopted by his step father, does that make him unpatriotic; she asks”, on a direct telephone to API.
