Hillary: The chances of me running again are zero. Or close to zero. Probably.

I.e., she’s definitely running again. No matter how rough the next four or eight years get, take heart in this: At the end of the tunnel, she’ll be there waiting. Share my joy.

The bit on her career plans comes with about 1:15 left. Before that, you’ll find her making a valiant effort to explain why The One’s lack of experience at 3 a.m. doesn’t matter. See the clip below for a little Clintonesque nuance on that.

I’m starting to genuinely like Hillary. Am I the only one who looks at Barack Obama and thinks how silly it seems now the conniptions people had over Clinton?

Lehosh on October 14, 2008 at 1:54 PM

She can’t do it in 2016 – too old. She can’t run against the messiah successfully in 2012 in primaries – even Kennedy failed at that. If Hillary and her supporters want her to ever be president, they better work on getting the vote out this year – for McCain.

Vashta.Nerada on October 14, 2008 at 1:54 PM

More than that I was happy to hear she has no interest in the Supreme Court. But, can she be trusted?

patrick neid on October 14, 2008 at 1:54 PM

In all likelihood she’ll be the new Teddy Kennedy, leaving the US Senate toes up some number of decades down the road.

That is unless there is some momentum behind her running in 2012 assuming the Clinton brand isn’t more tarnished and Obama doesn’t win in three weeks. I suspect both those conditions will work against her running until 2016 at the earliest at which time she’ll be far too long in the tooth to be taken seriously as a candidate to lead whatever is left of America by that point.

Depends on how big a failure Obama turns out to be.

Lyndon Johnson decided against running for re-election when early polls indicated he had little chance of winning even the nomination.

I couldn’t agree with you more. Clintons=Truman, or, maybe LBJ; Barack X=Ayers/Dohrn/Hayden.

LBJ sucked, but he didn’t hate this country. It is impossible to convince me Barack X and Angela Davis II don’t hate the United States.

Justice Clinton. Supreme Court Justices don’t run for president do they? Nah. Not in modern times. As left as we’re heading with Obambam, she might just be the rights best chance at maintaining a reasonably balanced court. Arrrrgggg!

If Obama does win and screws up badly enough, I think there’s a good chance she would be ‘forced by those with the best interests of the Democrat party and the country at heart’ to challenge Obama in the primary. It wouldn’t be her idea, of course.

Slublog on October 14, 2008 at 1:58 PM

Cicero43 on October 14, 2008 at 1:59 PM

Hillary missed her chance. We needed one person to dismantle and destroy the American way of life. That position is filled. I can’t imagine what else she’d be needed for.

JiangxiDad on October 14, 2008 at 2:00 PM

That second clip just makes me laugh, when she references her “lifetime of experience”. She was MARRIED to a governor & president. She didn’t hold those offices herself.

No doubt Obmama’s worse, but she’s still horrible. They share the same basic ideology: Marxism. What makes Barack worse is the messianic penumbra from which he operates. Also, Hillary strikes me as a bit more pragmatic in foreign policy whereas Obama’s naivite is flat out dangerous.

Remember, the lefties define their goal as having the world love us like the outpouring of sympathy right after 9/11. The Libs are too stupid to understand that only happens when you’ve been the victim of something heinous. I’d prefer not be the victim of anything, thanks.

I am tired of the Clinton’s subtle messages. If she really wants to have another chanse to run for the presidency they’d better start talkin in plain english why Obama is not fit to be president.

clemycali on October 14, 2008 at 2:10 PM

Ok, wow what the hell has this election done to me. Hillary’s actually looking pretty good as President.

I think I can safely say that I’d feel real damn good if Hillary was the President.

She needs to thank Obama for being so leftist that even she looks real mainstream.

Y-not on October 14, 2008 at 2:10 PM

The one thing that Hillary always had right was her position on Israel. Her potential solutions were almost always wrong in my opinion, but that is more in the realm of academic disagreement.

i.e. you can’t talk to the haters of Israel and have them remove discussions of killing Jews from school textbooks. (Clearly a problem, wrong solution)

Marine_Bio on October 14, 2008 at 2:11 PM

Hannity hammering WRIGHT damn near brought her back to victory. Let that be a lesson to McCain.

I think she thinks (knows?) that if she does that the Dems will never let her run again. And she’s not center enough to run as a Republican, and Independents never win and she wants to win above all else.

So subtlety and stealth is the logical course of action. Double-speak so that to the Dems she sounds like she’s behind Obama but to those who truly support her she looks like she’s ready to doublecross him the instant it looks to benefit her. And the best way to do that is to give her voters to McCain.

I beg to differ. Clinton may repeat the talking points, but if she is anything like her husband (and there’s not much reason to suppose otherwise) she’d be a generic left-of-center political creature. The difference between her and O is that one of them seems to don liberalism as a convenient mantle, while the other is a True Believer.

Lehosh on October 14, 2008 at 2:14 PM

Yeah, I know, we’ll never find out the answer to this but how much do you want to bet that they don’t have a sign in their house that says “bloom where you’re planted?”

Zetterson on October 14, 2008 at 2:15 PM

I need O’Reilly’s body language expert to tell me what she really said. She was constantly either nodding up and down when she was saying something negative, or shaking her head back and forth when saying something positive.

In other words, lying. Figgered it out myself!

Brat on October 14, 2008 at 2:17 PM

I would put money on it, that if her or her husband would just gently mention that McCain would be good as president, that it would destroy Obama’s candidency and verify that she wanted to run again.

I have to disagree. I always thought of her as an unprincipled true believer. I think she truly thinks it’s up to the government to take from the rich and give to the poor, like Hillarycare for example. I just think she’ll do anything to get into power, including taking less leftist positions. I guess I see any centrism she exhibits as the mantle conveniently donned.

That is true but the problem is that the simple people that vote, do not understanad the subtle language, the nuances. They take it as they see it. And what do they see? The Clintons campaigning with Joe Biden, Hillary in Florida and Ohio campaigning for Obama. So they take it that Hillary and Bill support Obama so they can vote for him evan they have doubts and fears. And that is a reason why McCain’s numbers went down. Not the only reason but one of them. Hillary must find a way to be more clear in her opposition for Obama.

clemycali on October 14, 2008 at 2:31 PM

I think she actually would have a fighting chance running as a third party, probably the best chance a third party candidate has had for decades. She’s already got a built-in fan base with the PUMAs, and I think she’d appeal to the moderates with an anti-partisanship platform. She probably wouldn’t win, but she’s not getting that kind of chance with the Dems any time soon, so why not?

She’s not politically stupid either. You’d never find her out there saying the other guy wouldn’t be so bad as President either three weeks before the general election.

Frankly, whether Obama wins or loses in November, her best political opportunity in the future is around the margins as a Senator, cabinet member or SCOTUS justice. Even by 2012, the Clinton name will not be enough of a drawing card to get the nomination. She’s smarter trying to play king/queenmaker in much the way Teddy Kennedy took on that role once he figured out he’d never make it to the White House.

There is STILL time for an October surprise. Makes sense to me they wouldn’t unleash it until after the final debate. No one would want to dance around that elephant in the living room during a debate and I can see where they wouldn’t want to address it head-on – neither side.

Maxx on September 6, 2008 at 10:50 PM

I predicted this last month.

Maxx on October 14, 2008 at 3:13 PM

I have been saying for months that the Clintons are not done – however they are also not politically stupid. It is too far out to unleash an “october surprise” with three weeks left Obama would easily be able to “explain” or let people forget. In this 24 hour news cycle, the time to unleash surprises comes some where around the last week in October. Early enough to get TONS of coverage, but close enough to the election for the target to be unable to recover. As for the whole “I support the Dem. party” line, that is bogus and anybody who has been alive since 1992 knows it. As to her age – it is not her actual AGE that will be the issue, it is that she like it or not is a woman and the first female president of the united states will not be 60+ years old. Her only shot is 2012.

Govgirl on October 14, 2008 at 3:14 PM

Always take the opposite of what the Dems say and you’ll have the truth:
I didn’t have sex with that woman
I’m not interested in a Supreme Court position
I don’t know how that $90,000 got in my freezer
That is not the man I thought I knew
I never heard that while sitting in a pew for 20 yrs
We have nothing to do with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac
My wife takes care of the financing- I don’t anything about not paying taxes on my home in the Dominican Republic

They are all liars- every single one. So yes, she will run again.

Epic lie.

She’s not even “Done with The One” for this election cycle.

The tubes are loaded and flooded. The safeties have been removed. The target has been acquired and a firing soultion plotted.

All that’s left is the order to fire.

Either that, or I’ve seriously misjudged Hillary’s vindictiveness…

…but I don’t think that’s possible.

SuperCool on October 14, 2008 at 4:26 PM

The reason Hillary didn’t do as well as needed is because she shakes her head from side-to-side when she’s declaring something she’s verbally trying to sell.

She’s SAYING with her body language, “no, no, no, no, no, no…” while she’s uttering with her voice/mouth, “buy this, buy this, buy this, buy this…”

So, her body language makes the bigger impact and sends people off.

For someone trying to win the PRESIDENCY, I’d have thought she’d have resolved her head-shaking problem by now, but, no, she hasn’t. This video, there she is again, shaking her head side-to-side, saying “Obama’s the best for this country” (whatever along those lines she says), while shaking her head, “no, no, no, no, no…”

I believe the “no” part and I wonder why Hillary won’t just say what she’s actually thinking, which is, Obama is NOT the best for this country, because that’s what her body language is saying. Same with just about every other close-in commenting session she’s engaged in: sells something, shakes head side-to-side, people are influenced by her head shaking, not what she says.

No, I think there was a definite line that Hillary could not cross in the primaries; I’m sure it was made clear to her that Obama was the party’s choice, and she better bow out without dirtying him up. If she had had just 10% of the MSM love she would have won. The “people” had started to question Bambi and were trying their best to get Hillary over the hump, but the “wheels” in the party weren’t about to let those super delegates go.

So I bet there are a few tricks and tales left in the Clinton arsenal; Billy Jeff isn’t one to lose gracefully.

Lest anyone feel like dancing a jig that Hillary won’t run again, it was only a few years ago that she disclaimed any intent to run for President. She was only interested in running for and being a good Senator from NY.
.
SO…A Clinton’s lips are moving. That’s a good indicator it’s a lie.

I honestly believe that should Obama win,, it will not be long before he sets his sights on destroying the Clintons. They are his only real threat within the Democrat party.

Yeah right. What a perfect way to protect herself with a screen as she (hopefully) is taking out bHo behind the scenes. Any news on that Michelle “whitey” tape? Oct will be so boring without something scary.

I have to say, I loathe the Clintons as much as anybody but she was downright likable going down the stretch. Obama is a sick joke.
