Video: “The McCain/Palin Tradition”; Update: Audio added

Not the first country song written about Maverick but surely the one with the most sterling pedigree. Bocephus, singing about the ‘Cuda? Even a phony, northeast-corridor, city-slicker conservative like me can pretend to be excited about that!
Seriously, though, this is a scandal because he mentions Jim Beam in the original lyrics and right-wingers don’t drink or something.
Update: He’s made a single out of this, apparently.

now write a song for Obama…
“I’ve got a bracelet too, Jim.
Punished with a baby!
Let me eat my waffle.
Sweetie! Sweetie! Sweetie!
Chorus:
America’s Chickens… are coming home to roost!
America’s Chickens… are coming home to roost!
America’s Chickens… are coming home to roost!
Get that man to baptize my daughters”
yeah, i like mccain’s better too…

Only about 5% or 10% of ‘em

I prefer to call it “taking my medicine”. It helps you deal with the aches and pains brought on by exposure to liberalism.

Damn skippy. Shots for everytime McCain says “my friends” during Wednesday’s debate?
HornetSting on October 13, 2008 at 5:30 PM
Good God!!! Bocephus makes the case for McCain/Palin better than McCain or most of his surrogates do.

Ed will have the debate chat room open. Let’s discuss the rules then!
I’ve had two liver transplants due to the “my friends” game. I don’t think my health insurance will cover a 3rd :P
lorien1973 on October 13, 2008 at 5:32 PM
bingo, he links Obama to Fannie/Freddie and mortgage mess better than mccain has
jp on October 13, 2008 at 5:32 PM
Maybe we should just play this at the debate instead. :)

It hurts how right you are. Hank must listen to talk radio or read Hot Air or something. Cause he sure didn’t get that from the campaign. How come he can make these points in a song but McCain can’t make them in a debate? Answer: Hank doesn’t spend his time in D.C. and he doesn’t think Pelosi and Reid are his friends.

I have two thirds of a wine bottle calling my name tonight. I have to drink it. It’ll go bad.
I thinking a poll here would prove that incorrect.

Nuts. This was in Richmond this afternoon, but I couldn’t go because, like the rest of you conservatives, I work for a living. Well, except for Ace that is.

OT: Seeing the HA ad on the right column about the Nixon program on American Experience reminds me of something I heard McCain say in the most recent debate. I suggest that he ditch “my fellow Americans” as a form of direct address. McCain has enough problems; he doesn’t need memories of Dick Nixon flooding back to swing-state voters.
I’d also like McCain to ditch “my friends,” too, because it’s exceedingly annoying and presumptuous in the context of a nationally televised debate. Fat chance on that one, so I’ll continue to wince each time I hear it.
BuckeyeSam on October 13, 2008 at 5:41 PM
What Baptist are you talking about? I had to have my reception somewhere else even for a weak champagne toast.
Oh, and on topic, I like the song. The original is a great one, and I don’t even like country music. “Why do you drink?” “To get drunk.” It’s fun.
Esthier on October 13, 2008 at 5:42 PM
Yes, this was in Richmond. I had the day off and attended the rally in VA Beach. It was a full house unreported unlike Oblahblah rallies.
Les in NC on October 13, 2008 at 5:44 PM
Tennessee, home of the Southern Baptist Convention, has been called the “Buckle of the Bible Belt.” It’s also the proud home of Jack Daniels and lots of moonshine stills. Right-wingers are not as easy to categorize as some might think.

And how violent did it get? Was the crowd angry? How many times did they shout “Kill him”?

His mic kept giving out when he was singing to the track..
and Sarah’s audio was too low as well.. I was WAY in the back area..
but good rally overall.. excited to see Sarah speak.

Haha, that is exactly what I was wondering when I saw that you were the one who posted this – “Allah knows who Bocephus is?”
Luckily, most libs don’t know the real lyrics to this song, or Naked Women and Beer… or Dinosaur for that matter.

KIDS ONLINE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION ALERT:
The Nickelodeon Channel is extremely liberal, and right now they’re running their “kids pick the president” online election for kids to “have their say”. Anyone can vote. Anybody here interested in throwing this toward McCain/Palin, feel free:
http://www.nick.com/kpp/
(The last two presidential elections, they did this, and of course Gore and Kerry both won in landslides.)

DaveC on October 13, 2008 at 6:05 PM
I watched streaming from NBC12 in Richmond, and although I couldn’t hear what Sarah was reacting to when she chided them, there were, apparently some anti-McCain/Palin protestors at the event. I’m guessing, but it was probably Richmond’s resident moonbat, Rain Burroughs and her clueless merry henchmen. But I’m guessing.

I definitely picked the wrong decade to stop drinking — it’s been 8 years, which reminds me of an earlier post today about Howard Stern. I used to listen to him, and it occurs to me now that I haven’t listened to him since I’ve been in recovery. I guess he was funny when I was drunk..a lot.

More people listen to Hank Jr than listen to the MSM anyway. Remember what happened when they replaced Hank Jr on Monday Night Football, the rating went down. We need Bocephus at the debate tomorrow. Just leave McCain at home where he can write love letters to the Dems. Palin/Bocephus2012!

I guess us conservatives need to start flagging all the pro-Obama videos on youtube as objectionable with their ‘report’ feature thingy.
jp on October 13, 2008 at 6:22 PM
The “fairness doctrine” at work already?
There is one problem.
They are yanking the vids that are positive to the Right like this one and they are removing the negative ones about the Democrats like the SNL skit.
Obama’s crew is so busy scrubbing his website that I decided to buy stock in P&G.

We tried that, actually. Manly and Wise did, I think. Whoever it was got an error message saying “Only the person who owns the copyright to this can put a report on it, and we can punish YOU for ‘falsely’ reporting a video” or some such like that.
Ugh.
