Carter’s economic policies gave us double-digit inflation, interest, and unemployment. They even invented a measurement called the misery index to describe just how bad it was.

Carter’s foreign policies gave us — surprise — Iran, the hostage crisis, weakness before the Soviets, and complete embarrassment in Afghanistan. Sound familiar?

The key here is that Obama will try to solve these problems with the same solutions that Carter tried. He’s throwing away everything we learned from Reagan. Everything Obama is pushing flies in the face of Reaganism, and linking Obama to Carter allows drawing that contrast. Then you can refer to Obama’s “change” as “recycling the failed ideas of Jimmy Carter, and rejecting the proven ideas of Ronald Reagan.” Such as, strength in foreign policy, confidence in America, tax cuts to stimulate the economy — which we need more now than at any time since the Carter administration.

John McCain needs to run as Ronald Reagan to Obama’s Jimmy Carter. He can still refer to all his maverickness to prove he’s capable of working with Democrats, but he needs to only bring that out occasionally, and concentrate on what he — and we — can do for this country.

Besides, I’d love to see how they play the race card against being compared to Jimmy Carter.

McCain needs to take off the Hello Kitty mittens and start swinging. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac would be good targets to start with.

There’ll be a picture of Michelle Malkin, sitting on her daily ankle-biting snark-bomb against John McCain.

There is Fannie/Freddie, Obama and ACORN.

There is the potential ACORN/Voter (Registration) Fraud issue, too.

There is the Obama tax scheme where The One says only small businesses with greater than $250K of what(?)(gross sales, net sales, profit?). How about saying that you can be successful until you get up to $250K? Well, on second thought…

Why not criticize the Obamessiah for inciting class warfare while he is at it?

I guess I must explain this again. Conservatives are absolutely not anti-intellectual. We hold great respect for people who are well educated and sensible about their role in society.

What we despise is the people who feel that a sheepskin from Harvard qualifies them as an expert on all things and the rest of us need to shut up and get out of the way. It is ELITISM we hate, not being intellectual. A vibrant and stimulating discussion of issues

The Neo-con and RINO parts of the Republican party are filled with elitist snobs. So are the ranks of the left. It is their tendency to dismiss everybody else that is insulting and infuriating. So yes, we dislike them for telling is we are not fit to have an opinion.

Learning the truth about the past of Obama is a critical factor in the ability of Americans to understand the man and make a valid decision at the polls. Since the media will not perform this service to the people, then McCain must do it for them. Don’t slime him, just state the facts and let them stand on their own merit.

The conservative movement of Goldwater and Reagan is now officially dead, a victim of the anti-intellectualism of the religious fundamentalists and the authoritarian populists who now control the Republican party and the conservative punditry. The selection of Palin as the VP candidate was the final nail in the coffin.

What we want McCain to do is very different. We want him to strident and unapologetic about the past associations of Obama. They are based on documented facts and that makes them fair game. That is not the same as throwing unfounded insults, it is a valid question about the philosophy and methods of a man that can become President. That is of interest to all Americans.

Just heard Chris Hitchens endorsed Obamam. why does this matter to an HA reader? because it is posted on Hotair as if this means something.
Allah has somehow given this man the standing of a normal conservative just because he supported the war(for a little while) and this is a guy that wants to put Henry Kissenger up on war crimes, wrote a book trashing Mother Theresa and is a former socialist.
Hitchens is a liar and a bigot on top of everything else, he opposes the Mccain/palin ticket because Sarah Palin has the gaul to actually beleive in God.
He is not intelligent and can not debate someone who has the same debate skills he has(on any subject).
