Okay, anecdotal evidence of the day to inspire all:

My wife was coming home through Ft. Myers from a client site during rush hour this afternoon. When she passed under the bridge to Cape Coral, a man and his two daughters (8-10 years old) were under the bridge. The daughters were holding up McCain/Palin signs with American flags and the man was playing a trumpet to draw attention to it. Neither of us have observed past behavior like this from Republicans.... obviously, these people have heart and want to win.

"You dumb fuck. If it was an IQ thing Obambi would be a Chicago alderman. But maybe I’m wrong and he’s a genius, how does that explain changing positions on a dozen issues between the primary and the general? IQ?

If it’s an IQ thing, and you suggest that she doesn’t cut it, why does everyone here agree with her on just about every public policy position she has taken?

Or, maybe you are just a lefty troll and you disagree with all of the intellectual positions of conservatism? If so, wander back to DU.

Jaibones on October 13, 2008 at 5:28 PM"

Dude, seriously, if you respond to me, say what you would say if we were face to face.

Now let me explain how you are wrong. Democrats dont have to be logical or know what they are talking about. Their constiuency doesnt require it. They require feel good politics even if they are void of logic.

Republicans, on the other hand, only do well when they can make a rational argument for their cause or their candidacy. So, yes, an illogical, inexperienced liberal candidate (especically one who would be the first black president) is held under a different standard than a republican.

It may be true that everybody on hot air agrees with her, including me, since she ONLY talks about social conservativism like abortion, gay rights, gun rights, etc.

However, when it comes to the OTHER vital issues of foreign policy and economic policy (two of the OTHER three pillars of conservatism), she is either a complete ignoramus or cant articulate a point....sorta like John McCain.

That is why she makes MOST people nervous about her ability to lead the country, should she become POTUS, particularly in a challenging time like we are in now. Ever read the Wall Street Journal? (We know Palin doesnt until a McCain advisor told her that she did.) They just had a poll showing that a significant majority of likely votors consider Palin to be a liability on the ticket. That poll may not reflect the hot air community, but the likely voting population tends to be a tad more important when selecting a POTUS.

Finally, you used the ol standby that if I dont agree with you, I must be a "troll". Insecure about your weak opinions, I see.

Karl’s going to have to live in an Obama world if he wins, too. Why isn’t HE guiding McCain? (Or is he, but the campaign knows better than to admit it?)

annie - I had the same initial reaction to Kristol's column and his comments on FNS yesterday - as in, Kristol must must have caught the same pundit flu that's been going around - but what he had to say was a little less stupid than the headline made it seem on first glance.

I don't think it would be wise or even possible to adopt Kristol's suggestions right away and exactly as written, but I think the overall suggestion is something the McCain campaign wanted to do anyway - get feisty, but not shrill, serious but not gloomy, optimistic but not polyannish, etc. The idea of getting the two candidates into the media more directly isn't bad either, but that trick could get old really fast if the campaign doesn't want its two candidates to turn into mere talking heads three weeks ahead of time.

I've always thought - and believed McCain planned - a kind of Trumanesque, shirtsleeves, come-from-behind finish. In the media age, it might look a lot like Kristol's idea. I think it starts Thursday.

Bones has got it right on the nose, it seems. Unless Rog is so subtly (cough cough) trying to hint that we too are all imbeciles.

Been past time….we have a little drinking game, during the debate, you take a shot everytime McCain says “my friends”.
We used to have a drinking game where everyone took a shot when Obama said “uh”. We all ended up in the ER. :P

Its an IQ thang.

Roger Waters on October 13, 2008 at 3:39 PM

You dumb fuck. If it was an IQ thing Obambi would be a Chicago alderman. But maybe I'm wrong and he's a genius, how does that explain changing positions on a dozen issues between the primary and the general? IQ?

If it's an IQ thing, and you suggest that she doesn't cut it, why does everyone here agree with her on just about every public policy position she has taken?

Or, maybe you are just a lefty troll and you disagree with all of the intellectual positions of conservatism? If so, wander back to DU.

As much as I thought Bill Kristol was WAY out of line airing our conservative family squabbles in public today, I have to say- The McCain campaign has about the worst talking heads going! I just saw one on FOX and I think he couldn't answer the question about McCain's tax plan because he didn't really understand what he was talking about! There's A LOT of stuttering and stumbling coming from his spokespeople, and thats not very confidence inspiring....

As for you, for someone who shows little hesitation throwing around insults and foul language, you sure get prissy sometimes. How is it that in your world denouncing the candidate you say you’re fighting for is OK, but responding to those denunciations is an Axelrodian effort to squelch free speech?

Look who's prissy. I feel that everyone is entitled to their own opinion. You are the one that got your feelings hurt when others insulted your candidate. We all hate Obama, but saying so gets old after awhile. McCain's campaign is lagging, it needs fresh blood. I hope we see that from him on Wednesday. I have faith he will unleash hell.
We are on the same side, MacLeod. I'm just not ready to get my cheerleader outfit on with the big "M" and wave my little a$$ in the air.

anniekc:

Obama’s economic plan is basically a 21st century version of Robin Hood’s economic policy. Steal from the rich and give to the poor.
