Chuck Todd: Top Democrats want Franken to lose

posted at 1:05 pm on October 10, 2008 by Allahpundit

But why? Why not Senators Clooney and Damon, too? Have every left-wing turd in Hollywood start running for office. What could go wrong?

He’s up six in one poll and four in another, incidentally. I think this, even more than an Obama victory, will be the bitterest pill to swallow on election night.

Wow! I wholeheartedly agree with a democrat. I need a drink.

How can that be? I mean, I concede that an Obama Presidency is all but inevitable at this point. Obama is just doing his victory lap and McCain is submitting — just like Bob Dole did during October. The third debate will probably be very conciliatory in nature, and it’ll move on. And that’s just pathetic.

But!! What the hell is going on up there in Minnesota? Franken is a complete goofball. How can generic Democrat preferences carry themselves far enough to let Al-Freaking-Franken actually win??

Outlander on October 10, 2008 at 1:08 PM

It’s not over, you’re right VDH.

But we’re down 10 points and we’re almost at the 2 minute warning and Lady Luck has hammered Wall St. in order to deprive our side of doing any good.

thirteen28 on October 10, 2008 at 1:08 PM

Oops, wrong thread.

thirteen28 on October 10, 2008 at 1:11 PM

If Stuart Smalley wins, George Galloway will slurp him. While wearing a catsuit. Can’t wait to see that. (shudder)

Sorry if I ruined anyone’s lunch.

PimFortuynsGhost on October 10, 2008 at 1:11 PM

Can’t wait to see Shtuart Thmalley and Bawny Fwank making a joint appearance on C-SPAN.

innominatus on October 10, 2008 at 1:13 PM

Oh crap, I might as well point this out. One of Smalley’s advisors taught for me last year as an adjunct.

I didn’t renew his contract, and yes, it was because he was working on Smalley’s campaign.

Sue me.

PimFortuynsGhost on October 10, 2008 at 1:13 PM

We make mistakes in Minnesota. And this would be the biggest one of all. Norm is switching gears but that just makes it worse, because it plays to the narrative that he’s not consistent.

Meanwhile, Franken’s ads have been complete lies. Every damned one of them. Of course, most people forget that most everything that came of St. Wellstone’s mouth was a lie, too. If the polls are true, we’ll sin in haste and have six years to realize how big a mistake we’ve made.

The good news – by the time the Democrats get finished screwing the pooch, we’ll be able to turn out both Obama and Amy “Senator Hotdish” Klobuchar, the fraud who got in last time around.

Dude I just threw up in my mouth a little bit that’s just a nasty visual I did not need. lol

Surely you are not citing a poll by the Minneapolis Red Star. Have you not read any of Hugh Hewitt’s demolition of that paper’s horrible polling history?

Can the people of Minnesota be this stupid?

rockmom on October 10, 2008 at 1:15 PM

Can the people of Minnesota be this stupid?

rockmom on October 10, 2008 at 1:15 PM

Not all of us, rockmom. But some of us, yes. And the polls that concern me aren’t the Red Star’s poll, but the others.

Mr. D on October 10, 2008 at 1:17 PM

I don’t know wether to laugh or cry!

Who would even think, that the Liberals would view
Franken as a lone lose cannon that their worried about it!

And ya,the Democrats might have the majority, but then
their lose cannon Franken goes on his own, giving the
Liberals fits and bad sleep,as to what,Franken might
and might not do!!!!

two words: JESSE VENTURA

titus_pullo on October 10, 2008 at 1:18 PM

I think this, even more than an Obama victory, will be the bitterest pill to swallow on election night.

I think just the opposite. One year of Stuart Smalley will do more damage to the National Democrap Party than anything I can think of. And the Minn Republicans can hang that around the neck of the Minn Democrap Party for decades to come.

FiveWays on October 10, 2008 at 1:19 PM

This just is not happening. I am already going into bunker mentality over the Obama thing and the financial meltdown (going to go see Joe Biden over at the Home Depot to buy barbed wire and pointed sticks this weekend). Stuart Smalley in CONGRESS!?! Better start stocking up on canned goods too.

HawaiiLwyr on October 10, 2008 at 1:19 PM

Hey, if the people are dumb enough to vote for him, they deserve six years of misery with him.

JammieWearingFool on October 10, 2008 at 1:19 PM

Titus nails it. Senator _________ (fill in the blank) isn’t all that shocking after Governor Jesse “the Body” Ventura.

okonkolo on October 10, 2008 at 1:23 PM

*shudders*

I feel dirty for agreeing with a democrat!!

Shower time.

Mcguyver on October 10, 2008 at 1:23 PM

by the time the Democrats get finished screwing the pooch republic, we’ll be able to turn out both Obama and Amy “Senator Hotdish” Klobuchar, the fraud who got in last time around to cheer our Democrat overords, as there will no longer be any free elections.

Fixed it.

These days, “the people” constitutes a plurality of the rabble too stupid to know the name of their own vice-president. Don’t include the likes of me in that bunch.

Absolutely right, JWF. You get what you freakin vote for.

BacaDog on October 10, 2008 at 1:26 PM

Oddly enough, the RNC (not Coleman himself) must want Franken to win:

See: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ljrh72Qy1tw

When the enemy can catch you doing a transparent distortion of an event in your ad, you’ve handed them a hammer to hit you over the head with, over and over. Stupid. Very stupid.

RBMN on October 10, 2008 at 1:26 PM

They should vote for the Independent. Coleman voted for the bailout and Franken is a joke.

lorien1973 on October 10, 2008 at 1:30 PM

Look at the still for the video. There’s something just plain odd about the juxtapositioning Todd and Buchanan laughing over Franken with the lower-third capiton “World Markets Plunge.”

Karl on October 10, 2008 at 1:30 PM

I think this, even more than an Obama victory, will be the bitterest pill to swallow on election night.

I am going to be swallowing a bottle of a different kind of pill if/when Franken gets elected. Voters are welcoming America haters with open arms and its sickening.

Read history. One Minnesotan came back from way behind in ’68, in the last month, and almost beat Nixon at the end. Mac is only down 6 in the aggregate. All he needs is to get it down to +2-4 Obama on election day and we can at least go to the polls hoping for the best. As to MN, if the state does go for Obama and Franken, it’ll be a landslide in the state legislature (many legis races were decided by under 4% in 06) and the Dems will have complete control of the state. They tried to increase the income take to 9+.

79 and sunny. Bring your own stockpile of ammo–we’re friendly, but the line has to be drawn somewhere.

TexasDan on October 10, 2008 at 1:51 PM

Of course they want him to lose. He is an embarassing human who has to deal with tax issues whether he is elected or not.

But, thanks to that incompetent Norm Coleman, the Dems will be stuck with Franken anyway.

Franken in the Senate could work to the GOP’s advantage. Eventually he could be a symbol of the Democrat party and all that is wrong with it.

How bad must this Coleman be as a campaigner?

In the Hill Country it is awesome right now! And still warm enough to take a dip in the San Marcos River, which is 72 degrees year round.

Did someone say AL FRANKEN??

From my point of view there isn’t one Obama sign in the yards and plenty of McCain ones. No “game over, man”.

You wouldn’t fit in. It’s a Texan thing.

indythinker on October 10, 2008 at 1:54 PM

If that didn’t work for Pelosi, Reid, “Cold Cash” Jefferson or any of the other extremist bumblers, I doubt that Franken would poison the well any further.
