What does Obama know about ACORN fraud?

posted at 7:55 am on October 9, 2008 by Ed Morrissey

Investors Business Daily asks what Barack Obama knows about the epidemic of voter fraud in ACORN, and it’s not an unfair question.   Not only has Obama publicly endorsed ACORN, he has paid them at least $800,000 for their services, an amount that he didn’t immediately disclose until pressed.  ACORN has responded in kind, with their voter-registration efforts that have resulted in criminal investigations in more than a dozen states:

For starters, Obama paid ACORN, which has endorsed him for president, $800,000 to register new voters, payments his campaign failed to accurately report. (They were disguised in his FEC disclosure as payments to a front group called Citizen Services Inc. for “advance work.”)

What’s more, Obama worked as executive director of ACORN’s voter-registration arm, Project Vote, in 1992. Joined by two other community organizers on Chicago’s South Side, Obama conducted the voter-registration drive that helped elect Carol Moseley-Braun to the Senate that year.

The next year, 1993, Obama joined the civil-rights law firm Davis Miner Barnhill & Galland, where he sued the state of Illinois on behalf of ACORN to implement the federal “Motor Voter” law, which the GOP governor at the time refused to do. Then-Gov. Jim Edgar argued, presciently, that the Clinton law would invite voter fraud.

Obama downplays his ties to ACORN, and his campaign denies coordinating with ACORN to register voters.

For a man with a short track record, Barack Obama spends a lot of time disassociating himself from political partners.  He spent most of the campaign misrepresenting his years-long working relationship with William Ayers, the unrepentant domestic terrorist of the Weather Underground and a man who still wants the overthrow of the capitalist economic system in the US.  Now he wants to hide his work over two decades with an organization that should be looking at the business end of a federal RICO prosecution.

IBD outlines the scope of their criminal behavior, and Michelle gives us the details:

  • Missouri – Officials now have to sift through hundreds of bogus applications submitted last August.
  • Connecticut – A criminal investigation has been opened into ACORN fraud.
  • Wisconsin – Registering convicted felons.
  • Ohio – ACORN tells Cuyahoga County’s election board that they can’t stop themselves from committing fraud.
  • Indiana – Over a thousand new applications from ACORN appear to investigators to be fraudulent, and that should be no surprise, since Indianapolis now has 105% of its population registered to vote.

In Nevada, officials seemed surprised by the news that the Dallas Cowboys had moved en masse to the Silver State.  The entire starting lineup registered to vote in Nevada, including Tony Romo, their quarterback.  However, Secretary of State Ross Miller assured Nevadans that anyone posing as Terrell “TO” Owens would get a big NO if they tried to cast a vote.

Barack Obama helped run an ACORN unit, represented them as an attorney, and is now a client of ACORN.  He needs to answer for their fraudulent tactics.  His money helped fuel the organization, after all, and there is little doubt that they are working on his behalf.  Their fraud intends to get him elected President.  Will he denounce it, and demand prosecution?  Or will he keep pretending that he doesn’t know them?

Update: The New York Post notes the nationwide pattern of fraud as well:

Let every vote count, is the Democratic Party’s mantra these days. That slogan might better be: Let every vote count as often as we need to win.

Such, at any rate, are the tactics of ACORN, Barack Obama’s favorite “community organizers,” and its Project Vote – of which, the Democratic presidential candidate has boasted, “I started working as the director . . . here in Chicago.”

ACORN has been implicated in voter-fraud schemes in 15 states – including Ohio, from where The Post’s Jeane MacIntosh reports today that a Board of Elections investigation has unearthed evidence of widespread voter fraud.

Hey, you know who else funds these fraudsters?  You do.  Congress sends them money every year, usually for housing assistance.

I’m certain they will be most thrilled.

Law suits, investigations, bitter opposition claims of fraud and demands for hearings.

Now just make an ad with these facts, particularly the bit about the Dallas Cowboys voting for Obama in Nevada, and then end with Obama’s own words (in his voice) about the acorn not falling far from the tree.

Is that really too much to ask? It would be devastating.

Nobody likes someone trying to steal an election.

I’d do it if I had a video editing program.

darclon on October 9, 2008 at 8:10 AM

Obama supports ACORN.
ACORN is involved in voter fraud.
Therefore Obama supports voter fraud.

And then you add in the fraud with millions and million in illegal campaign donations to his campaign. The Obama campaign is involved in massive fraudulent activities on both ends of election process.

I am sure his lackeys will say that his involvement with ACORN doesnt matter…we should be talking about the economy..no one wants to know about this now…he was a kid..etc.

I get fired up that his advisers seem to think Americans are only thinking about the economy and we dont care about Ayers, Acorn and the New party. We care…its the MSM who dont.

Why isnt ole Ed Rendell concerned about Obama’s lies? Ive e-mailed him to ask…and im not expecting a truthful answer.

Malkin was great, too, especially when she cornered the issue of mainstream media photography of Palin and then of Obama (Malkin said, with that smart-glower of hers, “every time they show a picture of Obama, he has a halo around his head!”) and then more seriously about why it is that Palin’s got so many females on the Left so angry (she’s “a beautiful woman” Malkin said…).

Palin was shown on the latest Newsweek cover, with a shotgun over her shoulder, “gets up in the morning and shoots her own breakfast!” Gutfeld exclaimed to much laughter.

Was a really great segment.

State staffer? I’m sorry, but I have a good friend that went to work for a county government in a Republican state in a Republican county. He was brainwashed in about 5 years as to the stupidity of “the people”. I have clients that are state governments…. almost all Democrats.

ACORN is simply a reflection of our larger government problem. The day to day employees that fill all those offices are mostly Democrats like my (former Republican) friend and hold the view that we are the problem… we don’t know what is good for us. In most cases, to send a state staffer would be to just add one more person to help fill out fraudulent forms.

Was he thinking of the mercenary soldiers of ACORN? Or his big, fat campaign chest, flush with millions of dollars in illegal contributions from places like the Gaza strip, Iran, North Korea, and Fallujah?

Maybe Barry’s not as good a politician as he thinks he is. He certainly screwed up by alienating Hillary voters so badly that they are now providing evidence that he stole the nomination through the caucuses.

The problem is the snail that local government is. How does Kansas City, Detroit, Philly, Lansing weed out the good from the bad between now and Nov 5th? ACORN and Soros know they can’t. The poison is already in the well and nothing will remove it in time. Nope the only chance is to inform and let the real voters get angry enough to show up at the booth to stop it.

That is the McCain message here. Get angry. Get up. FIGHT!

The Democrat Party owns Judges, the media, people is high-up places in every city and in every state. When idiots such as myself refer to the Democrat Party as the “world mafia”, far too many people blow that off as stupid and far fetched.

This U-Tube video explains a little bit of just how this mafia works. With Democrats in control of every branch of government, they will continue to load up every branch of government with their own. Disgusting how this takes place right under our noses. Think about these names and their crimes: William Jefferson, Sandy Berger, William Clinton, William Ayers, Nancy Pelosi, Barbara Boxer….. Obama and Acorn are plagues.

Consider your vote for McCain-Palin to be disinfectant.

McCain, Palin, and surrogates need to back Obama in a corner and pummel him with the following: Ayers and the waste of $161 million on radical programs; Acorn and undermining democracy; Wright and his hatred of the middle class; Obama as a member of the socialist New Party; Obama as the guy who will let Frank, Dodd, and other Fannie-Freddie enablers get away; what Obama’s ideas of education (the Ayers programs and his support for sex education at too early an age) portend–indoctrination, not education.

Obama is not mainstream. Dial up the surrogates and get the message about American values out front and center. And don’t forget about abortion.

Is anyone else revolted by Obama?

While I’m venting… My wife and I paid 35K in taxes last year alone. I have been working full time for 37 years, starting my career just (2) weeks out of high school back in 1971. I just got a letter from the IRS telling me that I’m being audited once again. No worries, as we play it safe and have a good accountant. My problem is that while my wife and I pay heavily in taxes each year, so much of my tax dollars go towards illegals and other forms of corruption that have nothing to do with maintaining the integrity of my country! This audit will cost me no matter what, as I must pay the accountant. The IRS agent I spoke with simply told me “it’s the price you must pay to live in such a wonderful country.”

hmmm… well, instead of terrorists killing olympians, bombing an embassy I think we are making every effort to kill them on sight instead of taking the European approach of appeasing at every turn.

OOPS! Sorry that link didn’t work.

Here goes:

This one is scary! Warch the video….

This is an uninterrupted 51-second video of Obama speaking; he’s
telling us exactly what he will do to the military…watch it before
this too is removed off the web site.

Pass it on…the USA needs a Wake-up call. How is this protecting America ?

http://macsmind.com/wordpress/2008/06/08/obama-wants-to-protect-america/

This is absolutely shocking & reprehensible. He plans to unilaterally
disarm our nation DURING THE MOST DANGEROUS ERA OF OUR EXISTANCE AS A NATION.The question is… for what? And more specifically,
for whom ?!!!!!!!!

There is one group of people in this nation who have clearly stated that all this is their goal. Please listen to

http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x32cxf_yuri-bezmenov

And then read:
http://www.americanthinker.com/2008/09/barack_obama_and_the_strategy.html

Cloward was a sociology professor at Columbia University who agitated and activated his students as well as “teaching” them. When Obama was at Columbia, Cloward’s big push was motor voter registration, and Obama was involved in some kind of “community organizing” while he was in New York City.

Piven is still big in the Socialist Democrats of America, the parent organization of “The New Party”, of which Obama was a card-carrying member. In an interview of Piven during Bill Clinton’s second run for office, Piven said she was looking for The New Party to be the instrument for change.

Piven is also the brains behind ACORN, with close ties to Obama.

There’s not a snowball’s chance that Obama doesn’t know the CCloward-Piven Plan, and his membership in The New Party is hhis agreement to implement it – which he has done from Day 1 of his political career.

So – I share your disgust, but please know that this is a cancer in America and that many of us are trying our best to fight it. But most of America is under the media trance and has no idea that our way of life is a target. These people have sworn to overthrow America.

Well… how about times where we are particularly sensitive about the possibility (remote) of electing “that one” ;)

I’ve always had cats. I discovered years ago that when one of them is engaged in a turf battle with a neighboring cat… DO NOT stick your arm in their or it will be returned bleeding. We have a bit of a cat fight going on at the moment.

The far left is a movement to take control of the country and shape it into marxist/socialist political system. They have taken over the democratic party with financing coming in from all over the world. Obama is just the figurehead and has earned the right by being marxist in every action he has ever taken. The difference between him and Michelle is he can diguise it and she can’t.

Can’t argue against your view of Europe. I think it stinks! However, if I may be blunt, you (and the rest of the allies) are not doing a very good job against the terrorists. You need to dump that stupid RoE.

Exactly. And when you combine the Cloward-Piven communist tactic of overloading the system so it breaks with the CAIR tactic of suing anybody who blinks at their own rape…. it means red-blooded Americans are in a fight for our lives.

Be of good cheer. World communists are making sure they know who is fighting them so they can put you out of your misery when they come to full power. From an interview with uri Bezmenov, former KGB propagandist:

Most of the activity of the department was to compile huge amount, volume of information on individuals who were instrumental in creating public opinion. Publishers, editors, journalists, uh, actors, educationalists, professors of political science, members of Parliament uh, of pre, eh, representatives of business circles. Most of these people were divided roughly in two groups.

Those who would toe the Soviet foreign policy. They would be promoted to the positions of power through media and public opinion manipulation.

Those who refused the Soviet influence in their own country would be character assassinated or executed physically come revolution.

Same way as in the small town of Hua in South Viet Nam. Several thousands of Vietnamese were executed in one night when the city was captured by Viet Cong for only two days. And American CIA could never figure out how could possibly communists know each individual, where he lives, where to get him, and would be arrested in one night, basically in some four hours before dawn, put on the van, taken out of the city limits, and shot.

The answer is very simple. Long before communists occupied the city, there was extensive network of informers, local Vietnamese citizens who knew absolutely everything about people who are instrumental in public opinion, including barbers and taxi drivers. Everyone who is sympathetic to United States was executed.

How many of the Cowboys are also convicted felons, thus, disqualified from voting? Pacman Jones registered in Nevada?

Well, one step at a time…. at least we can hit them first when we find them (assuming the boss, the bosses boss and the bosses bosses boss approves). It is certainly better than the original position of “do not touch”.

Obama’s doctoral dissertation was on Russian nuclear disarmament. I read a lot of milblogs, and when Russia was invading Georgia a common sentiment was “Oh, crap”. Because those guys know what Obama won’t say: When we agreed to disarm, we did so. When Russia agreed to disarm, they didn’t.

Locks are only for honest people.

Obama said in the interview (I can’t call it a debate) that he had warned about Georgia’s vulnerability. If that’s so, then it shouldn’t have taken him days to say more than, (basically)”All sides should stop their aggression.”

Obama’s friend, “Frank” (Frank Marshall Davis) was keen on furthering the Soviet cause even before WWII.
