Video: The RNC’s got a fee-vah and the only prescription is more Ayers

posted at 8:47 pm on October 9, 2008 by Allahpundit

From David Frum’s lips to the ad team’s ears. Maybe I’m just Ayers-ed out, but between this and McCain insisting that the real problem isn’t Obama associating with a piece-of-shinola terrorist so much as lying about it, I’m not sure what the crux of the complaint is anymore. Is it that The One is a dangerous socialist radical masquerading as a run-of-the-mill Chicago machine politician? Or is it that he is a run-of-the-mill Chicago machine politician with all the graft and cretinous hangers-on pertaining thereto? Or is it just that he’s a liar?

Speaking of which, the latest from Obama on Ayers: “I assumed that he had been rehabilitated.” Really? Even after the NYT interview published on 9/11 in which he said he was sorry he hadn’t done more as a Weatherman? That’s highly nuanced indeed, given that they were still in touch three years later.

Exit question: Are you really a “Fmr. Terrorist” if you’ve never repented?

Well, it’s red meat for the base, but it’s hardly an election-turner. Most days I wonder if McCain really wants to win. For a decorated war vet and POW, he sure fights like a wuss.

That there is more you [the people] need to know. There don’t have to put the full story in 30 seconds, just doubt. Of course, if you are Rick Moran, there is no socialist there.

I don’t really like the ad. This morning’s ad on Ayers was better. With regards to Ayers, I also believe that pictures are more powerful than words. The ads need to feature the damage Ayers did, and Ayers standing on our flag, but maybe they’re saving those for later.

Allahpundit’s other imaginary girlfriend, MKH, was just on Hugh Hewitt stating that she believed Obama has internals showing that the Ayers attacks are hurting him and that is why he is so defensive. She then said that she believed all the lying about his connections is going to hurt him just as much.

Yes, he is a dangerous socialist masquerading as a run-of-the-mill Chicago machine politician the savior of mankind.

But if you go back to the root of the Obama, it’s all about the social justice thing, dude. Every organization receiving dough from the Woods Fund under Obama has as an organizing principle “social justice.” It’s up to us to figure out just what that means, I suppose.

There are going to be some VERY disappointed Obama followers in the near future, whether he wins or loses, as a large cohort of them see Obama as their personal Robin Hood…and things just don’t work that easily, and he will not be able to deliver on all of the expectations and implied promises.

Sheep, all of them. This election has me sick to my core.

For crying out loud, advertising is about creating impressions not presenting a legal binding case. It’s meant to be viewed multiple times by people who may not be paying attention (ie regular HotAir readers).

Of course the Ayer’s ad from this morning was “better” it was over 90 seconds long. Get a grip.

You know who changes numbers and moves polls and garners votes and makes Chris Matthews spittle like a lawn sprinkler? I don’t live in a swing state for McCain, so I sure hope there are plenty of ads featuring Governor Palin.

Ayers is connected to others who also have relationships with Obama. This whole deal is about how Obama has surrounded himself with some extreme Lefties and Marxists. Ayers and Hugo Chavez being buds has got to come up and tie that to Obama’s comments about Venezuela not being a threat to us. Just think of this as one giant 2,000 piece puzzle.

Marxists/communists are famous for changing language. Remember, the moonbats ruined the reputation of the democrat party and then started calling them selves “progressives.” All the leftards are doing is changing their nomenclature to make their extreme leftist ideas palatable to the unsuspecting public.

Social justice doesn’t do a damn thing for the poor. It does not better their lives. It’s obtaining and spending grant money to keep yourself and your friends flush, have power, and fund politics.

The almost $400 million dollars wasted on the Chicago Annenberg Challenge produced no results. None. Nada. Zilch.

This is so irrelevant. Having once known someone who is a radical socialist is no big deal in a lifetime of other accumulated friendships and mentors. Look at all the other friends he has who have shaped his views: Dorhn, Rev. Wright, Mrs. O, . . . Oh sh*t, we’re screwed!

I am less concerned that Obama likes Ayres and Chaves than I am that they love him.

FalseProfit on October 9, 2008 at 9:12 PM

If McCain wants to make an effective ad about Ayers, he should enlist Thomas Sowell. He says it better than anybody and it certainly takes any steam out of the “racism” charge.

“Allies are not just people who happen to be where you are or who happen to be doing the same things you do. You choose allies deliberately for a reason. The kind of allies you choose says something about you.

Jeremiah Wright, Father Michael Pfleger, William Ayers and Antoin Rezko are not just people who happened to be at the same place at the same time as Barack Obama. They are people with whom he chose to ally himself for years, and with some of whom some serious money changed hands.

Some gave political support, and some gave financial support, to Obama’s election campaigns, and Obama in turn contributed either his own money or the taxpayers’ money to some of them. That is a familiar political alliance–but an alliance is not just an “association” from being at the same place at the same time.

Obama could have allied himself with all sorts of other people. But, time and again, he allied himself with people who openly expressed their hatred of America. No amount of flags on his campaign platforms this election year can change that.”

When no one cares that their presidential candidate ran with terrorists and racists; developed, supported and funded “education” programs designed to overthrow civil order and the government; and, plans to implement Marxist policies within the government, then we might as well just give up and stop talking about it. There are many brave citizens that serve causes greater than themselves and care more about their country than they do about their portfolios. But, the way things are going there doesn’t seem to be nearly enough of them, so maybe it’s time to just cash it in and fade off into the sunset. I hope people will be happy with their new socialist regime.

…they keep hitting him with the left hook…even a punch-and-judy boxer can eventually figure out a good block and wait you out…then the bell rings or he knocks you flat.

…hit him with everything but the kitchen sink, all day/every day…and he’s given us all plenty of ammunition. But most of all do this:

Tie him to his party.

Why?

1) His party controls Congress, which is at subterranian approval percentages right now. They tied Mr. McCain to Mr. Bush, tie Mr. Obama to Pelosi, Reid, Frank, Dodd, Durbin, Murtha, Jefferson of “cold cash” fame, Waters, Nadler, and the whole band of sold-out, treasonous, obstructionist, high-living, bank-busting morons.

2) In addition to being what I outlined above (i.e., vulnerable, with plenty of sound-bites on record), they’re damned unsympathetic. They’re like something out of a Nast cartoon…it’s just hard to figure out which one is Tweed.

3) The whole Fannie/Freddy/AIG/WaMu/Wachovia/who-fails-next banking melt-down isn’t the fault of Mr. Bush…or even of the “Wall Street greed” in O’Reilly’s populist rants…it’s the work of group like ACORN (African Communists Overthrowing the Republic Numerically), advocates for “new” educational programs like Ayers demanding more earmarks like a baby bird demands worm guts, and Leftist fascist social engineers who think that the “urban” population is down-trodden and must be serviced…no matter what the cost to the Republic (or the portfolios of the Republic’s citizens).

If all they’ve got is Ayers, they’re missing the boat.

Go to character…get on his nerves…let him pull out his “I’m offended” card, his race card, his “tell me to my face” card, etc…get damned uncivil.

What is more uncivil than telling the truth in public?

…the alternative is that the one-note wonders on Mr. McCain’s campaign bus keep sawing at that one unbroken fiddle string, and we get stuck with Comrade Obama and his merry band of socialists probably for at least the next eight years.

…I know…four years…but, after four years of Obama, the country will be so enervated and “changed” beyond all recognition — look up “FUBAR” — inertia will take over….

…crushing Obama is an act of patriotism….

Puritan1648 on October 9, 2008 at 9:18 PM

If there were only a bigger topic to talk about….

Bigger than the judgment and truthfulness of a man who could be our next president? Yeah, if only.

If Obama and him were so close, what’s the deal with there being no pictures of them together?

Who’s going to provide them, Obama? That’s like saying, “How can you imply Obama might have something wrong with him if he won’t release his medical records?”

Jim Treacher on October 9, 2008 at 9:19 PM

Former terrorist? I think if you wish you had done more, that it keeps your card punched.

It’s a bad sign of whatever Chicago has become that this little creep and his bomb happy wife are the toast of the town. Good jobs and model citizen mentions for these two, who should be making license plates for the rest of their lives, or at least rooming with Manson.

Here’s some good B.H.O quotes:

Hussein Obama – in his own words:
____________________________________

“You got into these small towns in Pennsylvania and, like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing’s replaced them. And they fell through the Clinton Administration, and the Bush Administration, and each successive administration has said that somehow these communities are gonna regenerate and they have not. And it’s not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.” — Barack Obama
____________________________________________________
“Anybody gone into Whole Foods lately and see what they charge for arugula? I mean, they’re charging a lot of money for this stuff.” — Barack Obama
_____________________________________________________

“…I am absolutely certain that generations from now, we will be able to look back and tell our children that this was the moment when we began to provide care for the sick and good jobs to the jobless; this was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal; this was the moment when we ended a war and secured our nation and restored our image as the last, best hope on earth. This was the moment — this was the time — when we came together to remake this great nation so that it may always reflect our very best selves and our highest ideals.” — Barack Obama
________________________________________________

“I have become a symbol of the possibility of America returning to our best traditions.” — Barack Obama
__________________________________________________

“You know, the truth is that right after 9/11, I had a (flag) pin. Shortly after 9/11, particularly because as we’re talking about the Iraq war, that became a substitute for, I think, true patriotism, which is speaking out on issues that are of importance to our national security, I decided I won’t wear that pin on my chest…” — Barack Obama
________________________________________________________

“And if that child should ever get the chance to travel the world and someone should ask her where is she from, we believe that she should always be able to hold her head high with pride in her voice when she answers, ‘I am an American.’
That is the course we seek. That is the change we are calling for.” — Barack Obama
_________________________________________________________

“America is …, uh, is no longer, uh … what it could be, what it once was. And I say to myself, I don’t want that future for my children.” — Barack Obama
____________________________________________________

“I had learned not to care. I blew a few smoke rings, remembering those years. Pot had helped, and booze; maybe a little blow when you could afford it. Not smack, though. …” — Barack Obama
_____________________________________________________

“Junkie. Pothead. That’s where I’d been headed: the final, fatal role of the young would-be black man. Except the highs hadn’t been about that, me trying to prove what a down brother I was. Not by then, anyway. I got high for just the opposite effect, something that could push questions of who I was out of my mind, something that could flatten out the landscape of my heart, blur the edges of my memory. I had discovered that it didn’t make any difference whether you smoked reefer in the white classmate’s sparkling new van, or in the dorm room of some brother you’d met down at the gym, or on the beach with a couple of Hawaiian kids who had dropped out of school and now spent most of their time looking for an excuse to brawl. …You might just be bored, or alone. Everybody was welcome into the club of disaffection.” — Barack Obama

“To avoid being mistaken for a sellout, I chose my friends carefully. The more politically active black students. The foreign students. The Chicanos. The Marxist professors and structural feminists and punk-rock performance poets. We smoked cigarettes and wore leather jackets. At night, in the dorms, we discussed neocolonialism, Franz Fanon, Eurocentrism, and patriarchy. When we ground out our cigarettes in the hallway carpet or set our stereos so loud that the walls began to shake, we were resisting bourgeois society’s stifling conventions. We weren’t indifferent or careless or insecure. We were alienated.

But this strategy alone couldn’t provide the distance I wanted, from Joyce or my past. After all, there were thousands of so-called campus radicals, most of them white and tenured and happily tolerant. No, it remained necessary to prove which side you were on, to show your loyalty to the black masses, to strike out and name names.” — Barack Obama

“It was usually an effective tactic, another one of those tricks I had learned: (White) People were satisfied so long as you were courteous and smiled and made no sudden moves. They were more than satisfied, they were relieved — such a pleasant surprise to find a well-mannered young black man who didn’t seem angry all the time.” — Barack Obama
_________________________________________________________

“That’s just how white folks will do you. It wasn’t merely the cruelty involved; I was learning that black people could be mean and then some. It was a particular brand of arrogance, an obtuseness in otherwise sane people that brought forth our bitter laughter. It was as if whites didn’t know that they were being cruel in the first place. Or at least thought you deserving of their scorn.” — Barack Obama

“It is this world, a world where cruise ships throw away more food in a day than most residents of Port-au-Prince see in a year, where white folks’ greed runs a world in need, apartheid in one hemisphere, apathy in another hemisphere…That’s the world! On which hope sits!” — Barack Obama

“I can no more disown (Jeremiah Wright) than I can disown the black community. I can no more disown him than I can my white grandmother – a woman who helped raise me, a woman who sacrificed again and again for me, a woman who loves me as much as she loves anything in this world, but a woman who once confessed her fear of black men who passed by her on the street, and who on more than one occasion has uttered racial or ethnic stereotypes that made me cringe.” — Barack Obama

Keep pressing on the nerve.

It’ll get through to the dozing mass if struck enough.

Voter: Senator McCain it is such an honor to be here with both of you this morning. I am a realtor, witnessing first hand the effect the mortgage crisis has had on many people’s lives. Will you assure us, that as president, you will take immediate action to investigate, prosecute, and names the names of the people actually responsible [crowd goes crazy].

McCain: I will. And it is already a matter of record, that members, Democrat members of Congress, fought against reform, and it’s a matter of record in hearings that they said in hearings that everything was fine. Senator Obama said a year ago that these kinds of sub-prime loans were quote fine with him. And the fact is, that the same people that are now claiming credit for this rescue are the same ones that were willing co-conspirators in causing the problem that it is [crowd goes crazy]. And you know their names. And you will know more of their names – Congressman Barney Frank and Senator Chris Dodd [Booo] are two of them.

Would it help to ease the pain? Ease your brain?

Well, it’s red meat for the base, but it’s hardly an election-turner.

Red meat for the base? Oh Please! As if this is the issue that is keeping conservatives ready to vote for McCain! I realize that McCain hates the GOP base for being too conservative but he and you really need to stop equating social conservative with mouth breathing moron. That label needs to be placed on those who think Ayers ads have traction at this stage in the election and the fools who think it matters to the squeamish among McCain’s supporters.

Star20 on October 9, 2008 at 9:13 PM

Now that strikes me as an effective line of attack, especially since we can’t campaign on current events. But this ad is an incoherent morass that’s unlikely to hold punch for anybody but the base.

It’s why I don’t support the man.

I RESPECT the man, don’t get me wrong. But never in my life did I think I would be pulling a lever for John McCain.

He has to earn this, just like I have to do in life every day. Just like we all do. He has not a clue how that works, I think.

McCain is taking WAY too much for granted, and I believe it stems from his personality. He just likes to assuage the fears, conflict and angst of others, not realizing the whole thing is spinning out of control. Politically, he is a loser.

wccawa on October 9, 2008 at 9:38 PM

As I am sure you know, I’m not one to rush to McCain’s defense. I think he has an over inflated view of his own judgment, and he is a typical Senator. We see this daily.

But he is also a man with honor and he is a warrior. It merely remains to be seen how much of a threat he sees BO to the America he loves. If he understands the danger, how Acorn, etc must be defeated for freedom’s sake then he will answer the bell. He has a killer instinct in him (note: Mitt/FL).

But if he thinks BO is the ebb and flow, I fear he will resign to a “good clean fight”.

Ayers is a good first step, it must be followed up. There are still 527s for 4 weeks. Let’s see how it shakes out.

Spirit of 1776 on October 9, 2008 at 9:44 PM

And if he assumed he had been rehabilitated, why did he deny working with him, and finally only let Michelle O admit the truth of his connection (partly) for him on Larry King one month before the election, after being called out on it?!

Amen. Obama IS all about change. Just not the change that people assume he is promising. The whole Chicago Annenberg Challenge thing was about radicalizing the schools of Chicago in order to indoctrinate the children into the socialist belief system from a young age. The money didn’t go directly to the schools, but to “external partners” who would oversee the spending to insure the “right” ideology was being peddled.

The Woods Fund? Same thing, only more community-based rather than centered on schools only.

The guy is a Socialist from the inside out, since at least his college daze days.

I suppose it depends on how you define “deserve”, but establishing a fairly solid narrative through a disciplined campaign with a consistent message is a bonus.

Hugh was playing a tape of Ayers and Dorn telling somebody (Connie Chung maybe) that this coutry sucks and they wish they had done more terrorism.

This tape was made AFTER Obama knew them.

If McCain wants to make an effective ad about Ayers, he should enlist Thomas Sowell. He says it better than anybody and it certainly takes any steam out of the “racism” charge.

Why not just send Mr. Sowell a cape and call him Superman? It’s as if he is the last hope for white Republicans to ameliorate their racial misgivings.

His presence and posturing negates any complaints or expressed frustration over racism, bigotry, etc lodged by blacks, Republican, Democrat or otherwise. It’s like he gives you the right to ignore or wholly discount other perspectives.

If Obama is “The One” Thomas Sowell is “The Black One.” He has been put forth as a savior for blacks in the eyes of Republicans for the better part of a decade.
